showering: before or after work

Both. Definitely both. And if I could scrub out my nasal cavity and get the hospital germs out of there, I'd gladly do so.

I am pretty laid back, but I am also one who is very careful about observing those precautions posted at the patient's door. I don't have little ones crawling on my floor at home, but do have a ton of dust from the horse trail behind our house.

I usually shower in the morning for day shift unless I showered right before bed. I will shower rarely after a shift after certain days that warrant it. There are days I will use disinfectant wipes on the shoes before leaving, but then I walk through the rest of the hospital so I wonder if that helps?

I prefer showers after work. I'll do an occasional before work shower if I just didn't have the energy the night before. I can't do showers everyday because of my eczema and dry sensitive skin. I shower every other day unless it was a really gross day then I'll pick up my every other day schedule from there. I do take care of my hot spots everyday. Every morning I pat my skin down with a lightly damp wash cloth, dry off, and follow up with lotion to keep my skin hydrated. I make sure my hair always looks clean because if it doesn't then it becomes a shower day. I keep myself pretty clean.

I shower before and after. I have a colleague who showers on the job right after she clocks out before she goes home.

That would be way too much showering. Shower after work. If you stink the next day before work, you have issues. LOL.

I got a great freak'n idea.....just go to work smelling like a pig. Then when you come home go to bed smelling like a freak'n pig......Aren't choices great!!! Either way, you get to smell like a freak'n pig.......

Also had to laugh at the "only shower if you work out for more than an hour" like who are these people to announce that nobody ever turns into a pumpkin before midnight?

I'm all for avoiding excessive bathing due to an obsession with scrubbing off germs, but hygiene needs are also very individual.

I shower before work after if I have a bad call ie. bed bugs or scabies/lice that is the life of a paramedic that knows that they can do what needs to be done prehospital. Nurses are too restricted in my opinion so I gave it up for less than half the pay to make a difference.

Some nights in the Trauma ICU the showers were before, after and DURING my 12,13 or 14 hour shift !

When I would work I would shower after work. I'm not a morning person so if I can sleep in a little later because I already took a shower, that makes me happy. 😊
