I'm suddenly not so hopeful anymore, after reading everyone else's stats :(

Only Positive Thoughts!

Thanks! There's nothing I can do about it anyway :)

Hi all!

I applied to the BSN program (as a second degree).

overall GPA: 3.89

prereq GPA: 4.0

TEAS: 93

I also applied to a bunch of other Bay Area schools (and 2 in San Diego).

SFSUs cost really appeals to me... But I've heard rumors that their program isn't quite what it used to be.

does anyone know someone that has recently gone through it?

I'd be interested in hearing about the same. I know they changed their curriculum so that patho and pharm are integrated into the different subject areas instead of being taught as single subjects. In theory this sounds like a good idea, but I wonder how it's been working out. They also did away with the traditional preceptorship; I believe you still spend focused time on a single unit of interest at the end of the program, but instead of having one preceptor you might have several nurses that you work with.

Did anyone else apply for the SFSU/Sequoia program and get an interview? I'm trying to prep for mine.

Does anyone know if they hold interviews for the msn application? I don't recall seeing anything about it.

Hi eabaunza,

No interviews are held for the msn application at SFSU. If you don't mind me asking, which specialty did you apply for? I applied to the CNS: Community/Public Health.

Overall GPA- 3.945

Prereq GPA- 3.97

Overall TEAS- 90.7%

Volunteer- 250 hrs @ local hospital + 150 hrs ER @ SFGH

Goodluck guys

Hey master641215,

Thanks for confirming my suspicion about the interviews.

OAN, I also applied for community/public health specialty.

No problem. I wonder how many applicants there are total this round, let alone the amount of us who applied for that specialty.

Hi Everyone,

Just to update those who applied to the ELMSN program, I emailed SFSU and was told there are 20 seats and that we should be hearing back around mid-April. I know it's been said here that there are only 10 seats so I'm not sure why I was told 20. Hopefully there are actually 20 seats! Even 20 is quite competitive...good luck everyone!

Thanks for the update, leeezy.

I was told at the info session there were only 10 spots, possibly due to funding. It would be great if they got additional funding for this year, even if it is only 20 spots!

On another note, I was thinking of creating a SFSU GMSN 2015 thread. Would anyone be interested in joining that one, or is this thread appropriate enough?
