  1. Hi all, I'm trying to endorse my CA license to Puerto Rico and work there. The CA BRN said that they sent my documents to the Board of Puerto Rico, two different times. Both times the letter did not arrive and this has been going on since July. I asked them how they addressed it and the response was "we KNOW how to address the letter/how to address another Board". They now say I have to re-apply for the documents to be sent again, and and pay $160 again. I will not do this because they will address the letter the exact same way, after which the letter won't arrive anyway. After having called multiple times with the Board on whether there was tracking on the letter, who signed for it there, and whether they can send me a receipt that it arrived, they refuse to give me any information or documents - only that the letter was sent on a particular day. This has been extremely frustrating since it's the only document pending me receiving my license there. I am considering legal action against the BRN, but I want to exhaust all other options first. Does anyone have any advice to offer in this situation? Thank you in advance
  2. Hi, does anyone know how I can work in Puerto Rico as a Californian nurse? I heard that if you endorse your license to Florida, you can work in PR as well. Anyone have any information about this? Thank you!
  3. Thanks so much, that puts my worries a bit at ease -pregnancy is such a vulnerable state
  4. Hi everyone, I just accepted a job in a Corrections setting, it was one of the only job opportunities I was given, now with the COVID situation. This is contract type of work for a registry. Since early last year, I have planned to become pregnant this year around this time (I'm 32 and ready), but I do feel conflicted about being pregnant around potentially violent inmates. Has anyone gone through this, and do you have any advice/thoughts for me? Thank you so much!! -Haarlem
  5. No change in status either, still "in review" and last updated 7/7! Wondering whether they'll send any notification/update at all next week
  6. Hi all, just wanted to open a thread to communicate about Stanford's New Grad RN Residency program. The application period closed on 6/29, and looking at earlier threads, Stanford starts calling for interviews after about a month. One of my friends unfortunately already received a rejection email a few days ago, so I know they already went through 1 rejection cycle. Good luck everyone!!
  7. Hi darlingdt! I also applied for the El Camino Fall Cohort.. let's hope they update our statuses soon! :)
  8. It's stories like these that scare me so much to work in a hospital (I'm graduating this coming March).. I've experienced a lower level of chaos during my preceptorship and was very much overwhelmed, with less going on than what you described.
  9. I definitely see how taking Fentanyl could warp your thoughts (I took it before going under, it felt like my head was spinning!), the thing is I had no pain at all in the PACU and did not take any pain med. I was just a bit drowsy from the anesthesia. The surgeon completely numbed up my nose locally. I still believe what was said was said, but maybe not with the attitude/demeanor that I perceived. It feels like a rock solid memory though, but I want to give her the benefit of the doubt.
  10. Sorry about the replies not being addressed to the particular person - I'm pretty new & believed that "reply" would address it to the person I clicked reply for. I also can't edit them anymore. That being said, I appreciate all of your responses. I believe I heard her correctly and there are really nurses who just don't care. This to me was also evidenced by her grumpy attitude and doing the bare minimum. As I woke up more, she was still just plain unfriendly - even my husband noticed who is always a ray of sunshine, lol. I opened this thread to shed light on the fact that there are nurses like these. But I also want to say that all nurses I have ever met (aside from this one) have been awesome, kind, caring and helpful.
  11. It sounds so unbelievable when I read my own thread, but it is true. This is why I was stuck on this incident for so long. She definitely could've put things in different words, but the entire afternoon she had this attitude. I just realized she also said to me straight that 'this had to happen while doing so and so' (my panic attack). She either had a really bad day or she's missing a vital part of nursing - a little humanity. I also take this experience with me and always, always comfort my patients..
  12. Sorry you experienced that, I also take this experience into my practice. It was actually hard to let this one go because I couldn't speak up for myself, that's probably why. But this topic has helped me gain insight in why certain things were said and done, and it's helping me move past it.
  13. Yeah I would also observe for a second what's going on, but I wouldn't delay it so much so another nurse will actually step in. She definitely didn't seem very happy that this happened while she was doing something else, I remember now her making a comment on that 'this had to happen right when I was doing so-and-so'. Having a family member at the bedside may actually help the patient remain comfortable.
  14. I don't think she was throwing my nurse under the bus, rather, she just told us the truth - that he was allowed in as soon as I woke up - why 'lie'? Other nurses were nearby and it may have confused them as to when family is allowed in. I wasn't a special case - I had a normal recovery aside from that little freakout. But this wasn't a big deal - just an added confusion.
  15. I also did not know this. The person we spoke to just before leaving maybe have gotten it wrong, about when my hb was allowed in. My nurse probably called him in when it was time. You guys have made me feel better about this experience. :)
