Question about scrubs

Published

I'm taking a CNA course in a few weeks and they require us to purchase all white scrubs (eeeek)! Is it okay to wear a tank top or cami under my top for some extra coverage?

** i don't really have any nude colored bras to wear under a white top...anyone know where to get a nude tank top/cami?

It is very advisable that you wear something underneath your scrubs, or you might bend over and give your little old man pt a show! Since you are wearing white scrubs, I'd stick with a white or skin tone tank or tee shirt. Double check with your school to see what other colors or styles might be ok. Good luck!

Also, consider matching your underwear to your skin color. Anything other than that will show through white (even white underwear).

Try walmart, belk, target, dillards, etc. I don't know what is in your area, but any of these will have nude bras or cami's. Personally, I wear white cami's or a white t-shirt under all my white scrub tops.

Also, good luck in your class.

Target, Walmart, Old Navy, and probably even department stores like JC Penny should all have nude colored tanks and tops.

No one ever complained in my nursing clinicals about wearing something under my uniform/scrub, so it should be okay to do that. I wear men's v-neck t-shirts under my uniforms. Get a couple sizes smaller than the misses/junior size you already wear. They're cheap - 3 to a pack. Also keeps any perspiration from "leaking" onto the underarms of your uniform/scrubs.

Also, I agree with the advice above to wear skin-colored underwear so it doesn't show thru. Good luck!

I get cold easily and always wear a tank top under scrubs.

Jockey makes a very good tank top. The cream color is my favorite. You should be able to find them in the lingerie section of most department stores.

The tank top is invisible under my scrubs.

they also make some nice brands of white scrubs that say *can't see thrugh me* thicker material. I would def go with that for the pants!

def. wear something under your scrubs.. ALWAYS leave an extra pair in your car.. You will need them one day I promise! white, tan or nude colors work the best under white scrubs!!!

Get them loose fitting. They aren't made of spandex and were never meant to be form fitting.

On a related note, I'd suggest wearing pantyliners to work. Stress can upset your menstrual cycle, and the very last thing you ever want to have happen is to have an accident like that.

fun fact: white scrubs are completely see-through when wet. I had to run across campus in mine during a Florida downpour...passed several people on the way...got to my car and realized you could clearly see my skin and my underpants!

glad those days are over! good luck!
