I'm really happy to have found a job on a skiiled unit in a beautiful facility, but I have a question about ratios-- does this sound OK?The patients are not super acute-- no vents, a few IVs, some wounds, but mostly post MI-- that sort of thing.
Ratio 14 patients per nurse, 7 for CNAs.
Thanks.
My background is hospital-- acute care so I am used to less patients.
Count your blessings! Most ratios are 20+ to one nurse...on long term floors even higher especially on 3-11 and most CNA ratios are 10/1 or 12/1

7 residents per CNA and 14 pt per nurse? Lol are you dead and in heaven??? It's got to be too good to be true. :) Once corporate finds out it gone lolol.
Yep...to good to be true!Leaving for work in a bit and I will have house supervision (48 beds) 26 pts myself with 10 or more being complex with mulitple wounds, IVs,treatments etc, I will probably have 3 or 4 cnas for the house and an lpn with 24 residents of her own.
Wow! That sounds tough-- house supe and 26 patients!

This Ratio is just a teaser it will get worse soon Good Luck.
Yep !! Too good to be true !! I am in a wonderful facility too and until recently I had 55 folks ...2 with trachs and 3 tube feeders all by myself...on the 7a-7p shirt. Luckily it is a nonprofit facility and were listening when we said it was too much. I do have help so my team is 30 but as the only RN inhouse for 2 of my shifts I still have 55 to watch over. So count your blessings !!:balloons:
I have been working on a skilled unit at an upscale facility for the past 2 years or so. When we're short-staffed, the CNA sometimes must take 25 to 27 patients by herself. When the CNA has that many patients, it means that the nurses must help out with answering some call lights, toileting, or giving the occasional shower.Ratio 14 patients per nurse, 7 for CNAs.
You are so very fortunate to have the aforementioned ratios.
