I am interested in coding certification, RHIT, RHIA, CPC, any of them. What is the best way to get these and are there any programs that are less than $3,000.00?

No, I work in a University Medical Center that can't seem to hire enough help. I could even work more than I already do, if all I wanted to do is Work, instead of work to Live😂 The early winter is slow time for 1 of my jobs, so I take a Feb - May gig to supplement that time frame. So in essence I will have 4 jobs this winter. The hardest part of taking PRN jobs is making sure you keep your calendar updated & don't overlap any jobs & time. I also am honest with all concerned that I have 3 jobs, less resentment when they find out & they will eventually.

I actually have 3 PRN jobs. If you don't need insurance it's the best way to be able to schedule yourself as much or as little as you want or need to work. Biggest Plus is you don't have to ask for time off. I have found that you take a PRN or part time job in a "home" department & then float in to other units/departments, or work extra for your home department. In my Hospital they only allow you to one actual FTE whether it is FT, PT, or PRN, then you just float to other departments. Has been great for me, since like to take travel trips with my husband when possible.

Glad you were, but all that garb did not make you more professional or more skilled. I just personally did not agree with the need for wearing a dress, hose & cap to do my job.

The purpose being what? A cap that won't stay on my head, a skirt that shows my ass if I have to get down on the floor to measure chest drainage or empty a foley bag, or perform CPR. Get real! I do not need a costume to be a kind, compassionate, and very skilled nurse.

Yes I knew, it took me over a year on the floor before I could transfer into my speciality, which was surgery. I got to surgery & went as far as a CRNFA (certified Registered Nurse Cardiac First Assistant), stayed in this career for over 20 years, finally left because of neck issue due to wearing/looking through lopes for so many years. I absolutely LOVED that job.

Good Lord! Who went after you? Really, are you surprised that the board did not execute their job, by doing their own investigation? I have found in life, whoever gets to tell their story 1st, just has to be the one telling the truth....NOT:no:

Personally I have found using my struggles with weight loss a good tool, that I can use to help my patients. They seem to appreciate the honesty of talking about the struggle of how to lose the weight. We don't need to tell them they are overweight, believe me they know. We need to encourage them to try to make small changes to better their health, whether that is weight loss or just upping the exercise, quitting smoking....

I have always been told that if I bought my own malpractice insurance it would be used against me, as in, they would go after me personally because of the insurance. I have always felt very comfortable in my 30 years + of nursing being covered by the hospitals I work in insurance coverage. We are human & we do make mistakes, but that is the reason they cover you.

1st of all I would probably laugh it off & say I don't participate or if you already indicated you do, just say I make a rule that I can't give personal information out to a patient. I would never give out that type of information about myself.

LOL:nurse:! I had this experience years ago when I was learning a new role in surgery. I took that person aside & had a firm conversation with her. Letting her know that all of her negative announcements are being told to me or I can overhear her. Politely let her know that you prefer to get some respect, if she has something to say to say it to me. If she continues, call her out in front of everyone, by saying I thought we would agree that you would talk to me about my actions as a nurse, let her know in front of everyone its not okay to diss people if you are not willing to help train.

Gosh do you think that will ever happen. We are not medical staff anymore we are a hospitality group now.
