Pregnant Nurse Caring for a CMV (CYTOMEGALOVIRUS) patient
The client is diagnosed with cytomegalovirus. The nurse learns that a staff member providing care to this client is in early pregnancy. Which is the best action for the nurse to take?

1. Ensure the staff member follows standard precautions.

2. Instruct the staff member to contact the health care provider.

3. Ask the staff member about feelings regarding the pregnancy.

4. Reassign the pregnant staff member to care for other clients.

The RN is in early pregnancy (if that makes a difference). My first thought was to reassign the client to other patients because CMV is among TOURCH which should not be cared for by a pregnant Nurse. But Kaplan said that reassignment is unnecessary and to just "ensure that the staff member follows standard precautions"... The rationale is "make pregnant RN aware of the risks; use standard precautions, do not reassign" For NCLEX what should be the right option?????
