  1. I took it under Lone Star community college, I was too afraid to test under UT's code. I'm not even attempting the TEAS test, I have heard it's way too hard, more than the HESI. Due to my low score on Math, I can't apply anywhere else until I pass that section of the test. I can only go to school in Houston, I'm a mother of 3 active kids! And I'm also working at a dental office while attending school. I'm completely done with my BSN prerequisites, everything is done, I even took pharmacology for nursing and my GPA is really high. I'm definitely going to study harder for the Math portion, keep reviewing and practicing until I can do a good time on the Math section, that was my biggest problem during the test and I ran out of time, I had to guess the last questions. I'm thankful regardless, I think I actually have a shot at this, I just need to keep studying. I did really good in the other sections. I was heartbroken but I learned my lesson.
  2. After having all of my classes completed for the BSN of nursing, and a GPA of 3.85, it breaks my heart to realize I was so close to make it to nursing school. Unfortunately, I did not pass the Math section of the HESI, my overall score was 88% because the rest of the test I made it in the 90's. My A&P section was a 90, my critical thinking 950 and the rest was ranging between 92 to 98, but during the last section (the Math part) I made a 64 . I was completely heartbroken!!! I ran out of time, and I had to guess the last 15 questions, I concentrated on the A&P and critical thinking part of the test, instead of Math. I learned the hard way, and I will try again next round of applications. But for now, I wish everyone the best! Good luck and stay strong!

  5. Could you please let us know what is the schedule? The hours? Thank you
  6. I also want to know the information!
  7. Me too! I ordered it on Amazon, I'm excited to receive it.
  8. Wait! I thought you could send your scores to any school you wanted through the Elsvier's website, you have to pay a fee and wait a couple of weeks. I'm also a LSC-Kingwood student
  9. Thank you everyone for sharing your experience and helping others. I will be applying to UT-Houston for their Nursing program and I am really nervous, I finished everything as far as my classes but I left with 4 B's (unfortunately) two of those on my hardest classes, Medical Microbiology and Chemistry. The rest I have all A's, I am hoping I can score really good in the HESI and be able to have a good chance to get into the Spring 2017 semester. Wish me luck! I get terrible anxiety while taking tests and I am also ADHD. Hopefully everything would work out in my favor. Please send prayers and positive thoughts I am scheduled to take my HESI test at Lone Star Community College at the end of July.
  10. You're going to have to contact the school directly, and explain to them your situation. I'm not sure what they will say, but there is a waiting list and I'm sure they're all waiting for a chance. Good luck and keep us posted!
  11. Do we need the Biology section and the Learning styles to apply to UT-Houston??? They didn't mention those sections at the information session. Please let me know? Thanks!
  12. I am in the process of doing the same thing. I like to give myself some time in case it takes a little longer.
  13. A drop of advice; The sky is the limit! Keep on moving forward and reaching out for the stars, live your life to the fullest and follow your heart, your dreams will become true. Good luck in your journey, don't waste another minute, your time is now.
  14. Congratulations to everyone! I had a wonderful semester as well, I made four A's in A&P II, Lifespan, Math, Nutrition. I have 4 more prerequisites left to get into school for my BS in Nursing.
  15. You should definitely go to law school if you have a passion for it. No one can make that choice for you, but yourself. I know a couple RN's who went to law school and landed great jobs here in Houston. If you decide to go to law school, make sure you have a high GPA, good recommendations, and be on the top 10% of the LSAT's. Like everything else, you have to work hard at it and have really good grades. The jobs are available at least here in Texas. The good schools are available and the pay is so much better than staying as a nurse. But ultimately it will be your decision on what to do for your future.
  16. I'm usually so busy with my own test that I have never noticed what goes on around me. On those few seconds I happen to look up during an exam, I have seen people cheating, or I thought they were cheating, but that is none of my business. I am more worried about myself and my test that I really don't care what others do, at the end of the day, everybody will be taking a proctored testing for the NCLEX, only the best will be awarded with the proper credentials. I am more of the mentality "not my monkeys, not my circus"
  17. There is no need to be rude when someone asks for advice on this forum! Why attack their grammatical errors, and assume that English is not their first language? Completely ridiculous! If you don't have anything nice or positive to add, please refrain from posting assumptions. To the original poster: Don't get discouraged, I know at least for Texas schools you have to wait 5 years after failing a nursing program, and it might be really difficult to get back in. Try to work something out with your school, and most likely you would have to wait the 5 years to reapply. Wishing you the best luck in your endeavors.
  18. I think having a baby during nursing school is going to be hard no matter what. That baby will need you, and it will be very difficult to manage everything else during that time. You would be more challenged than the average student. I think you are the only who can decide what to do, but please reevaluate your priorities. Ask yourself what is more important in your life? Good luck!
  19. We are all in the same boat! I'm a mom of 3 kids and I decided to go back to school. I have a previous degree in dentistry but now I'm going to school to become a nurse. I have one semester left before applying to 2 nursing schools in Texas. I worked part-time, I really don't have to, but my husband and I decided it was better if I focused on my classes, and getting good grades. He is more strict that my parents were! I have to get good grades! I think he cares because most likely it will help me in the future, to establish a study routine and better studying habits. I have a great support system from my husband and my kids(they're young but they understand), they know mommy has to study most of the time during the week and sometimes weekends as well. I'm still able to take care of them, cook, clean, take them to their activities and volunteer at their schools. Honestly, being a mom and being more mature has made a difference in my life. They are my support and my strength, I don't think I could do it without them. They cheer along the sidelines and they can see the sacrifice we all make for our future. Hang in there! It will get better, have a plan for your future and set the pace of your steps towards your goals. Be gentle with yourself and get some rest.
  20. Thank yo uso much for this post! It was truly a life saver and the help that many of us needed. I have lived by your words, and hopefully the outcome would be admission to the program. Congratulations on your nursing journey and soon to be nursing graduation. I wish you the best in your nursing career, thank you for sharing your knowledge, I will be forever grateful.
  21. Great! I made an A on all of the science classes except Chemistry, I made a B after a lot of tutoring! In general, out of all of my prerequisite classes, I have a B in Statistics, Philosophy, Sociology and Chemistry. I'm afraid that's not good enough. I haven't calculated my general nor my science GPA yet. But 4 B's out of all of the prerequisites it's not that bad...right?
  22. Thank you, I would also be applying to TWU-Houston, I'm a mom and I really can't go further than Houston to school. I'm not to sure about LSC nursing programs, for the last 2 years they have been having a NCLEX passing rate below 80%, currently they have warnings with the BON.
  23. I'm currently finishing my last prerequisite classes for the nursing program at LSC-Kingwood. I was wondering what classes and how do I calculate my Science GPA? I started studying for the HESI and I'm scared deathless! I would be completely done with my classes after the Spring semester, that's why I feel that the Fall 2016 is the best time to apply to the program. Any recommendations? Thank you
  24. Thank you for all of the information. I will be applying for the Summer 2016, I'm about to finish my last 3 prerequisites for the nursing program. I'm extremely scared about the HESI test and the application process. Congratulations to all of the people who got accepted and to the ones who didn't, don't feel bad, keep on trying and moving forward.
  25. A question! How do I calculate my science GPA and my general prerequisites for nursing GPA? I'm taking classes at LSC-Kingwood. Thank you!
