I'm a CCBC-Frostburg ATB student. Frostburg has been pretty good so far, I'm in my second semester of the second year, never had to go to FSU campus for anything, classes are set up in an easy to use way as long as you're familiar with online classes...

NANDA helped me as a first year student prioritize and form a plan of care...we've moved away from it in the second year though.

I smell infected/necrotic foot wounds all day (I work for a podiatrist) and I still prefer that to the smell of hospital food and that weird scent old folks get when they haven't had a proper shower in a few days.

What an awesome thread! I'd just like to second the part about not making promises that you aren't directly responsible for. Discuss any special accommodations with staff BEFORE assuring the patient that we can meet whatever needs they have.

Shea Moisture's raw Shea butter lotion does the trick for me. It's very thick so a little goes a long way. If my hands get dry to the point of cracking, I use bacitracin on them until they heal.

Unfortunately, I know a few people who would distrust a male peds nurse. The world is a messed up place...but if that's what you want to do, go for it. Don't let that horrible misconception hold you back.
