So when you did EUKAN how did you do the labs?

I hope you will post your experiences, as I'm hoping to get into a cohort in summer or fall of next year. Finishing up my prereqs now.

Excelsior is not accepted in all states (CA for one) and you need to check their website and your State BON before enrolling. It is a financially reasonable and doable program - just do your homework.

Videos and youtube help a lot - I also listen to audio of A&P as I fall asleep at night. There are lectures on itunes university too that you can listen to in the car. It sounds like you have a really high study load in addition to A&P and that this is the first time you've taken classes in a while. I would consider dropping something - maybe English because it will require a lot of time and writing. You want good A&P grades.

They are all in SoCal. I was told two years ago that they wouldn't consider me for the program because I lived in NorCal. So... I love to SoCal. I have heard on this board somewhere that this is someone who lives in NorCal and is in the program and comes down for all the clinicals.

They don't, but I found it will probably be easier to get into this program than any public LVN to RN program in CA. I can't afford a private LVN to RN program. I'm finishing my prereqs through Straighterline and my application stuff is already in. After I finish my prereqs I'll take my TEAS and hopefully get in.

I just really wanted to get it out of the way before I started. It's not my strongest subject and I didn't want to start at WGU having to do something that scares me :)

I want to take an online biochem course before I start at WGU. Does anyone have a good one at a reasonable price? Thanks!

That's where I wanted to go, but they required one year of Med Surg experience in the last so many years, and I didn't have it

The website at the CA RN BON has all the accredited programs. So of them do have other schedules. National University near Modesto has one night a week for classes, then weekend clinicals. You might be able to find someone to do the commute with on the evening class. I know several from the Sac area who commute one night a week.

The Western Governors program is partially online. The clinicals are in sim labs and at sites. It is only available in So Cal, not Nor Cal, at this time.

Correct - it isn't possible for anyone who enrolled in Excelsior after 2003. You can, however, practice in CA through a federal job with a license from another state. Military hospitals, federal prisons, some Indian agencies, VA, etc.

Intereresting - I just started Straighterline because work will reimburse for it. I'm going to look at EDUKAN - hadn't heard of it.

No, you do not get an ASN with the 30 unit option.

Is this for instate or out of state?

If you did your due diligence at the beginning - you know all that about the risks. For some it is the only option that will fit into their life. I am always amazed at those who really slam Excelsior. If you don't want to take the risk, don't! But why drag it down for others.

Did all of your group pass the ATI and graduate?

Thanks Mitczak, I appreciate that link. I didn't know there was a link to all the states' boards. I live in CA and they are awful about nursing programs. Fortunately I'm not worried about working in CA, as I'll be moving after I get my license in another state.

Yes, I understand the clinical info, as I've read it all. However, I've also heard that people where finding it difficult to get their clinicals set up, that's why I asked the question here.

I know this is an old string - but I just heard about this college. Do you know if it's still a good online alternative to classroom programs? I'm in CA, but I'd gladly travel for clinicals.

You can always work in those states in federal facilities (prisons, VA, military, etc.) with a license from ANY state.
