  1. I have been working for a year at a job that I love. When I was hired, I was given the RN pay scale which showed step increases based on years of employment. I had a stellar review recently and the 2024 wage scale was posted today. I assumed I would be moving to Step 2 ( was hired as a Step 1) but my manager told me that I will be staying at Step 1...forever and that it is company policy for RNs to remain at the step into which they were hired and never move to the next step. This feels completely bizarre to me. I will still get a raise, but I feel misled and manipulated. Am I wrong and just misunderstanding how step scales work? At the hospital I worked at previously, RNs moved up a step on the scale every year.
  2. Is it possible to take all prerequisites online, and if so, what schools offer the courses (including labs) that we need? I live in WA state and am hoping to go to Everett Community College if that makes a difference. Thanks!
