  1. I don’t know what you mean by deflecting responsibilities. I’m not an RN nor BSN. Neither I’m a newbie nursing student. I have been through the whole nursing and back. I’m on the other side of the isle now. I’m glad I did. What I’m saying is, the education is a mess. Wether it’s set by the state board of nursing or not, I do not care. I will change the whole thing entirely if I have my way just for the younger ones coming up. I still stand by my word. You don’t teach people by intimidating them, you teach them as adults, and explaining not reading PowerPoints. You learn by doing not rote memorization. Thank you. Finally someone with a spine and clear vision.
  2. I don't have problems with clinical. If you read my post right, I said you learn by doing not rote memorization without explanation. If you're a good teacher and explain well to your students and teach them in clinical, continue the same and be your best. Don't intimidate those eating their young.
  3. Can you retake a level 2 to get a level 3? My instructor said I can't since I scored a level 2 before. Is this normal?
  4. Most of the professors are always worthless. They don't know how to teach the students besides reading PowerPoint. Can't answer questions when asked, but will *** you when you score 87.8% instead of 88% to pass. I have a plan to change the whole curriculum of nursing in the future.
  5. Of course, "sometimes" but not always. Most of the time, it is not the student. How I wish I can reframe nursing schools' curriculum and the way they eat their young. You don't teach people by being intimidating as a teacher. You teach by explanation and letting the students learn as adults. You don't fail someone a whole semester because they score 87.9% and they need 88% to pass. You don't test students on things you cannot explain to them when they ask you questions. We all know you learn to be a nurse by doing not by rote memorization. It is the attitude of nursing school instructors that sucks not the content of medical knowledge. It is the attitude that 'hey I suffered as a student, therefore I must make your life miserable as my student.' It is that school that doesn't care about the personal wellbeing of its students. Yes, I get it you must know your *** before you can take care of me, but I am not going to learn that *** if whoever taught me doesn't know what they're doing but instead reads powerpoints all day with no given answer to my questions, but instead expects me to memorize for tests. Again, I will change the whole method of teaching and the curriculum if I have my way.
  6. If I have my chance, I will scrap all nursing programs, and rebuild their curriculums.. The stress they place on students is just ridiculous.
  7. Thanks for your input. I wished the probability was higher that would have helped him. But unfortunately, per what he told me, the ATI probability of passing was lower so that really dropped his grade.
  8. You're not a failure. It's the nursing schools that put so much pressure on students with their curriculum and way of teaching that is a failure, my dear.
  9. Hello everyone, I am submitting this for a friend who has been really stressed out lately. What are your takes on this issue? He is done with this last semeseter in an ADN program except now having some issues with the ATI comp predictor. ATI has given him a 60% chance or probability of passing the NCLEX on the first try. Unfortunately, the instructor used this probability as the final grade for the final exam and won't let them retake the Comp predictor. Is this normal? Back in my days, I know we were allowed up to 3 times before we can exit the program. Now, this has dropped this final grade in the class to 82.3% from 95% overall before taking the comp predictor, and he needs an 83% to get a passing grade in the class. The instructor is saying that he would have to repeat the course/semester in order to graduate? I felt this is absurd. Why can't they retake the comp predictor, we all know ATI can be somehow different from what you're thought in class. They did not use the ATI syllabus or protocol throughout the course. What more is annoying is the fact that the instructor is using probability as the final grade instead of his raw percentage in the exam. Even disturbing, is the fact that they can't retake the comp predictor. I would like to know what you guys think of this.. I feel this is crazy. I have no idea why even with the whole pandemic, schools can still stress students like hell.
  10. Go to the bar and drink and stop worrying.
  11. Go to the bar and drink or go do something fun. That thing wont do you a dann good on day of exam. NCLEX is critical thinking.
  12. If you put in like 6 hours everyday, virtual ATI can only take you two-three weeks to finish everything. I mean with going through the learning activities and taking the practice test and doing post-test assessment. For saunders say about a month if you want to finish the whole book. But I sued saunders while in school so I did littel reveiw of systems and areas where ATI think I needed remediation. I also used saunders for ATI remediation as well. The best thing is to practice questions and use saunders and ATI for content where you're weak. Re-read them over. Just follow the virtual ATI plan. They will give you a plan according to the information you provided to them. Goodluck.!!
  13. For virtual ATI, their contents contains everything you need to know for the exam, and their practice test mimic the exam as well. Their predictor and practice tests are way harder than the actual nclex itself. They summed up everything, pharmacology, pediatrics, maternity, med-surg, mental health, and all that in their learning activities. Try it you wont regret it on day of exam. With saunders, I read system by system and did pages questions, and used the CD to practice questions especially SATAs.
  14. The wise one tackle the bull by the horn and tackle it once. What about the unwise? They proceed to postpone to tackling the bull by the horn, and fall short of free mind. My advice. Do the NCLEX now and postpone that vacation.
