I am in Triton's RN program, It is tough but fair. As far as the LPN program they have informationals almost monthly you should contact the school for more information. Also You live in Humboldt, have yu considered Wright College they have an excelent LPN program and it is available to take in the evening. but you still need the pre reqs regardles. best of luck to you and feel free to message me if you have any inquiries.

In illinois one would have to provide proof of licensure or group affiliation before one would be allowed to get a special placte.

With more people insured there will definitely be a need for more nurses; however Hospitals are no longer places of healthcare and well being but places of business that must turn a profit in order for share holders to be happy. Healthy patients are no longer the goal of most hospitals now they just want happy clients. It will be a minute. I believe it will only take one major lawsuit against a hospital on negligence to be won by a former patient to kick the smart owners into gear. SN: There needs to be a cesation of hospitals trying to find the cheapest labor possible.

more than likely if the school you are entering is not accredited. Check with the programs you are interested in to see if they take credit from where you are considering going.

Hi, I am also in the west suburbs. Two programs that I know of for sure that have online curriculums are Olivet Nazarene Nursing Schools in Illinois, Masters in Nursing Degree | Olivet Nazarene University, and Chamberlain Nursing School, Earn a Nursing Degree Online or On-site | Chamberlain. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology in 2007 and now am beginning an ASN-RN program at Triton College in Melrose park. I was accepted to Olivet however the pricetag was to steep. I decided on taking the community college route as it is much more affordable to earn RN certification. I will enter a BSN completion program afterwards at a savings. You should begin a dialogue with different counselors to see which program might be best for you. If you decide to go the ASN route then there is College of Dupage http://www.cod.edu/programs/nursing/index.aspx, Morton College http://www.morton.edu/academics/aas.asp?nav_id=a4_1, and Triton College http://www.triton.edu/Home/ . Just to name a few.

Ms. Pot meet Mr. Kettle... You began as an ASN/ADN and yet you want BSN to be the entry? By your logic a becoming the likes of a Plumber, Electrician, Locksmith etc should also require a Bachelors minimum in order to be considered "professional".

I get the frustration of you NPs who did the hard work and now have to compete with the degree mill NPs. But in defence I see many Hospitals that have partnerships with the likes of Chamberlin, Walden, etc for continued education of their nursing staff. what gives? I have no desire to be an NP, however If CRNA proves too long to obtain I still intend to earn an MSN/MPH.

the patients are great, but their parents are one horror story after another.

Location is a huge factor in having a shot at being hired as an ADN another id networking. I've noticed that there are alot of hospitals dropping their Magnet status so just keep your nose to the grind stone.

It appears your place is adopting the retail way of doing things... in retail like staples,walmart, sams, etc. they ask you for your availabilty then in the same breath ask you if you can be "flexible". god forbid you are in school and not into making a carreer of being a sales associate or cashier with said company.
