  2. i hated med/surg and would never work there. I went into psych right out of school and have never regretted it!
  3. psych nurse=dark and twisty lol
  4. do you think it may be racially motivated? if so you could go that route as a means of appeal. it could be a discrimination thing...
  5. no way was this a hipaa violation. gossip at best.
  6. I agree, I think she was exposed elsewhere.
  7. all the rn's wear black where I work, we all hate it lol
  8. I wouldn't let mother theresa beat me
  9. If they knew that pt was accusatory she should have been a two person approach
  10. we frequently give all of those meds together. we also combine them with seroquel and or zyprexa, they all have different actions.
  11. yes, it is an entirely new order.
  12. I started in psych and never looked back. however, I wouldn't work med/surg if you had a gun to my head! in psych I always get out on time.
  13. the ones that only want to do things on "their" time are doing it because that is the only control that they have at this point in their lives, and it is likely to stay that way. it must be very frustrating to have once been a productive member of society and now can no longer do what you want when you want to do it. give them some control if you can, ask them what time they would like things done and how. that may help.
  14. if the pt is symptomatic absolutely
  15. 1 nurse and 1 peer support for 16 pts? we would have 2 nurses and 3 techs for that. that sounds totally unsafe!
  16. I agree, sounds like a set up to sue you and the hospital.
  17. if I had 20 grand I would happily advance my education!
  18. or the ones that have no interest in the "loved one" until they become unable to care for themselves or make decisions anymore and are in need of someone to manage their money. then suddenly they are all involved.
  19. I use quotes all the time to relay exactly what the pt said. it is perfectly acceptable practice. I think that they are looking for any reason to not pay her the $4000. look to see if this is a pattern. how many actually received the $4000?
  20. I work at a county psych hospital and I know exactly what you are talking about. drug addicts that don't want to work that just come in for meds or to get out of going to jail for something.
