Your issue may not be studying. You probably have the content down, however, a huge trick to success on NURSING exams is knowing HOW TO ANSWER THE QUESTION YOU ARE BEING ASKED. A lot of times tests are not content based; they are based on ANALYSIS AND APPLICATION. You have to know how to apply the content to the situation. I suggest you read the chapter in an NCLEX book that discusses how to break down a question to know what it is asking you to answer. A lot of times the answers seem to make no sense at all but when you break it down to what it was asking you to answer in the first place, you can understand where you are going wrong.

Qsmoss - Breathe...relax...release...You will do just fine. I think the real issue is confidence. Like one of the above posters said, there is simply not enough TIME for us to learn everything we need in nursing school. Along with that, clinical is a requirement of ALL nursing programs, be it LPN, ADN-RN, BSN-RN. There is simply not enough space to be able to ensure of that either. Everyone has to get those hours where they can. That being said, I think you said it also, nursing school gives you everything you need to go out there and get the job...the job is what gives you what you need to succeed. And you have to make it the best for you. That is why it is so important to ASK questions, even if you think its a dumb question. You may get met with frowns or snarky comments, but I would say, 'With all due respect, I understand your frustration in having to train a fish out of water, but you were once in my position, and I still need to know the answer.' LOL But be confident in your abilities. Be confident in your capacity to absorb new knowledge. You were successful all throughout nursing, after all, look at you, licensed and with a job. The proof is in the pudding that you can MORE than just do the job. In time, you will be able to do it with your eyes closed. Just be positive and keep your motivation high. Good luck to you OP.

The new job that I just accepted yesterday pays $28/hr. Prior to that, I had an offer for $24/hr. I'm in Detroit, MI.

Also, FYI, doing the PVT does not require you to input any card info. If you are directed to a screen for payment, that is indicative of possible failure.

I'm starting my first job Monday. My advice for you is to be eager to learn. Remember, nursing school gave us what we need, real work experience is going to enhance upon that. Be hands on during your training. Watching is fine, but remember, you ARE the nurse now. These are things you are going to have to do as apart of your job so you don't want to just watch. Dive in, let your preceptor do the coaching, not all of the work. Come prepared. Remember the rules of prioritization when managing your time. Do not be afraid to ask questions, but also come prepared so that you can answer some of those simple questions yourself. Bring a clinical procedure book, bring your drug book. All of this advice I am giving you I plan to use myself. I'm very determined to be successful so I hope this advice works for you!

Thank you! And trust me, you are doing the right thing but continuing to push! I always notice, it's the pushy ones that get the results! Have you made any follow up phone calls? Sometimes, when you make yourself known to people, they tend to remember you once they start pulling applications.

Just yesterday I commented on someone's post about how I was beginning to feel a little dejected in my job search but I wasn't giving up. I prayed last night before bed, and when I woke up this morning, I got called for an interview! I had my interview at 12 and by 12:30 I was offered a job!!! It pays $24 an hour, and I'll be working full time afternoon shift! I just want to let everyone that is still in the hunt know, do not give up! I know how stressful it can be. To be on your last leg, desperate for that phone call, for that interview, to get your foot in the door so that all of your troubles will start to go away. I know how it feels. But your blessing will come to you. I am a firm believer in God. I know everyone doesn't share the same beliefs and I am not forcing mine on anyone. But just know, everything is in divine order. What is meant for you, will definitely be yours. You might get a lot of 'No's' but your 'Yes' is on the way. I put in at least 40 applications over the past 4 weeks. I just knew someone would call. But day after day would pass, yet no calls. On Monday I called a particular facility and the receptionist informed me they were not hiring. But something pushed me to go in and fill out the application anyway. I filled out the mundane application (trust me, you fill out one app, you've filled out them all), left my resume and cover letter, and smiled graciously when I was told, 'We'll keep your application on file and if a need comes, we'll give you a call!' Of Course you will, I thought to myself. So I continued in my search until Wednesday, and I decided to give myself a break. I prayed, a lot, and told God I was feeling low, but I'll keep working and be patient because I know He has something in store for me. And boy did He! 8:23 this morning I got the phone call that changed my life! And you know what, it will happen for you too. Just keep pushing. Fill out every application for every job that you are qualified for, even some that you think you may be! You'll be surprised at what comes your way! I am praying for all of you!

Good Pop Up = 'Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Please contact your member board for assistance. Another registration cannot be made at this time.' There is not a "Bad pop up", however, if you get taken to the payment screen while attempting the trick, that indicates probable failure. Neutral pop up = "This candidate currently has results that are on hold." Indicates neither a pass nor failure, but you may be waiting to find out for a while.

I'm just outdone with some of the remarks in this thread. OP I truly apologize that you are getting some of the feedback that you have gotten. I really hope that you can look past the negative. Do what your heart is telling you. If being a nurse is what you want to be, then pull yourself up, dust yourself off, RELAX RELAX RELAX RELAX RELAX. Take a refresher course. Get a study buddy. Take the NCLEX again, and PASS IT! You can do it. You graduated nursing school, obviously you have what you need. Learn how to use what you already have. Good luck and God speed. Prayers up for you.

As long as your status says 'Delivery Successful', then the pop up your received indicates that you have indeed passed! Congratulations!

Jeez it sure can get rough here on AN. I think the OP has a right to vent and be upset. Face it, if it were either one us that have already earned that all-precious nursing license being so poorly treated, we'd be ticked too. I've seen plenty of people get ripped to shreds on here for disturbing someone's vent. Let's give her the same courtesy and let her rip one. After all, a lot of us are still students, too. I took the test last Monday. Had 85 questions, at least 35 SATA, 5 ordered response, one EKG, lots of priority. Good pop up. Quick results Wednesday. License number posted by Friday.
