  1. So, I just got hired at a skilled nursing facility..YAY! I am just wondering what is the best way to first approach my can's? any tips/pointers on what to say initially in order to keep their respect and maintain a good relationship with them? Thanks!
  2. I just had a tb done yesterday at my pcp's office. It was intradermal.
  3. Very true! Thank you! The place I'm working at is a skilled nursing/rehab facility. Good luck with your new job as well!
  4. Hi All, I'm super excited and enthusiastic about starting my career as a nurse!! It is what I have ALWAYS wanted to be! I just landed my first job as an LPN and I am very nervous. I start on the 23rd. I feel like I forgot everything I learned in school. I know there will be a culture shock, but is there any advice anyone has? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
  5. hi all! So, i just received my theory test back and FAILED! In order to pass i needed at least a 73%. We have 4 tests and a final this semester and we need to pass the course with at least a C. I am feeling so overwhelmed considering the grade of my first test wasn't the best either (75%). My question is, how do you guys study? I have been reading the outlines that my instructors give us for each competency. Any help would be great! Thank you.
  6. Hi, just want to get some opinions. This is my instructors first year teaching. She is only part time teaching, has a full time nursing job and is going to school for her masters. She has cancelled clinical about 4-5 Fridays now and the last 2 Fridays were consecutive. I feel like this is going to nip us all in the butt and we are going to get kicked out of the program for her carelessness. If my group doesn't open our mouth and tell our school then I feel like the facility we are at is eventually going to call the school. Being a novice nursing student, I feel like I am missing out on education. I don't know if I should report her and if I do then my whole group will be in trouble! What would you do?
  7. For my school, we used a clean technique and the packing had to be applied moist but not soaking wet.

Absolutely! It won't hurt. I want to eventually be a CNM as well! I'm only and LPN student currently. I'll get there though! I think you should go for the doula position.
  9. Congrats! Now in my 6th week of clinicals and just started passing meds..learning injections next week. Still feel more like a CNA.
  10. This patient ate in her room, but I think it would have been common courtesy to let the woman finish eating before I started 1. Moving her around and 2. Undressing her to apply cream. I just feel it was especially rude of my instructor when she came in the patients room with me and started barking orders at other students to assess the patients bottom as well. This is my instructors first year teaching, but she has been a nurse for like 7 years.
  11. Sorry for the spelling errors! Dang iPhones!
  12. Hello! So, during my clinical rotation this week, my patient was eating lunch. My instructor wanted me to apply cream to her bum. This would require me to transfer the patient from her wheel chair to the bed. I told my instructor the patient was in the middle of her lunch but she insisted I do it at that moment. I apologized to the patient for interrupting her lunch and she said" ya that was dumb!" Ishe then refused the cream to her bottom. I towel as though I should have waited until she was done her meal before event transferring her. Was my instructor in the wrong?? I treacly believe so.
  13. Hi All, So, I'm from MA and currently going thru an LPN program. I know I want to pursue my RN/ BSN and possibly MSN. However, my fiancé and I have been planning (for a few years now) to move south, specifically GA. We've been looking in the Peachtree City area. Just wondering what are the best schools to continue my nursing education? Or any other advice for the big move would help. My program ends August 2013. I would really like to further my education before I get a job in the field. As an LPN in MA, hospitals aren't hiring. Most of the jobs are in LTC and such. Thanks for your time!!
  14. Hahaha I am pretty shy but I can put it aside most of the time..thank you for your help!!
  15. Just reading your suggestion put me more at ease. I will definitely try this! Thank you!
