  1. I feel your pain...it sucks when your own family members don't support you... Maybe she is jealous because she wants to be the only "successful" one in the family. I know it hurts but don't let one person change your path-prove her wrong...and make sure you go out of your way to thank her for her motivational words when you graduate-
  2. Hello: No the school can be NLNAC accredited or CCNE not both... Good luck in your job search
  3. I believe it's the teaching style not the teacher... Actually one of the best professors I ever had was from another country-he had an accent and was from Russia. But he was the BEST ( he taught A&P I and A &P II)-he explained everything and NEVER read from power point..yes at times it was difficult understanding him but he would always crack jokes that "Russia was getting in the way of teaching." Nursing is mostly self taught anyway...the teachers cannot spoon feed information and I've had my share of crabby teachers...but don't lump every foreign teacher as "bad" teachers. Good luck
  4. [COLOR=#003366]Abdullahc3 Honestly I would study what prefixes, suffixes, and roots are-I used a medical terminology book to study-I would study this for a good two weeks-
  5. Cayman Islands-best diving!
  6. Look at it this way-you will have to work at least 15-20 more years right? Well I'd rather be doing something I love- I'll be in my 40's before I finish-and I really don't care. Go for it!
  7. Congrats-don't worry about what people say...a lot of people have no intention of becoming an RN, they love being an LPN... Do what's right for you
  8. Once I pass the NCLEX I will continue...why wait?
  9. Yeah well if she fails because of this teacher...she will have to start over-and she will REALLY not have a leg to stand on-the school administration will think she is "bitter" because of a failure. OP: I really feel for you...I hope you look at all of your options. But as for my two cents..why would you want to give money to a school that doesn't care about you and allows their teachers to be bullies??
  10. I was in a similar situation and I withdrew...you have more guts than I..my question is, will this teacher become your clinical teacher? The reason why I'm asking is the teacher can fail you and you will not have a leg to stand on-all she has to say is you are not safe around patients...this sounds to me like a no win situation. If no one at your school is going to at least investigate..well I'd rather drive 2.5 hours to a school that will treat me with respect-
  11. Well there's a lot of people who are NOT negative.... Congrats!!!!! Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing! We knew you could do it. (had to add a cheesy face)
  12. Red35 replied to BBB<3's topic in General Students
Nice scrubs! Mine are white with black pants (thank goodness) because the school used to make the students wear all white..
  13. Name: Red35 Galen or NJ college of nursing June 2013 or July 2013 End June 2014 or July 2014 (12 month program) Feeling..this isn't my first rodeo-attended an RN program and withdrew due to complete disorganization so I'm nervous because I would like to finish. Also, a little mad I'm not in RN school. But I want to be a nurse so I have to take a different path. Good luck to everyone.
  14. I loved the site...I used it too.. Too bad I found it in A & P II-I received a C in A & P I lab...
  15. Merihen: Yes I realize that....just trying to help...I was going to attend Galen but when I called several colleges and universities, they told me the same thing....NO we will not accept any credits from Galen because they are not NLNAC accredited.
  16. I do not get wrapped up in drama.....my teacher does though...I do not understand why some teachers believe they have this "power" and can make some students life a drag....in theory I have an A...but she literally follows me around in lab and tells me "I can fail a student and there's nothing he/she can do about it." I have come to the conclusion that nursing school is the military...some nurses have no right being teachers...
  17. I'm taking Pharmacology now...I bought Mosby's drug flashcards (3rd edition) and it has helped a lot! They have cartoons and the drugs are divided into catergories...even when I'm not sure on a test...I remember the cartoons and it has saved me... 3 weeks ago...I had a 76.8% and now I have an 85% (we have a test every week)
  18. Sorry.....Sac isn't the same as NLNAC
  19. Failing....my first clinical starts in two weeks....my clinical teacher cannot stand me and she is looking for any reason to fail me....the anxiety has been overwhelming
  20. Also, I might add Galen is NOT getting their accrediation-If a school is in candidacy status for NLNAC-it is required for the information to be on the NLNAC website-they are not and I'm sorry but they have sold that story for years-I was going to attend Galen-I called the NLNAC and they told me no Galen hasn't tried to obtain NLNAC status-they are members of the NLNAC but that's it..... I called the NLNAC is Janaury. I personally have never heard anything negative in regards to Galen but I do know employers are starting to weed applications out -stating that the applicant must have graduated from an accredited school// Good luck
  21. I attend a for profit school.....let's just say it has been "interesting." My school is NLNAC accredited but I should have chosen a community college or university-I do not believe I'm getting a quality education.
  22. I'm in my 3rd quarter-or second semester of nursing school- I have a B in Pharm and an A in Fundamentals....I start clinicals in 3 weeks-EEK! It's hard but I study almost every day (I take a weekday off to do housework) We do not round and we do not receive + or -
  23. NO, everyone does not gain weight. In fact I've lost 5 pounds...I make it a point to exercise at least 4 times a week. I've been doing this for almost 2 months and I've noticed a big difference in my stress level. I pack nuts, fruit, protein bars and protein shakes for school. I also make PB and Jelly sandwich or turkey on rye.
  24. All that wiggles isn't jello Beauty is skin deep but stupid is to the bone-this is my favorite saying....why? I say it when I want to slack off and not study-it usually gets me to hit the books Fake it til you make it
  25. I'm jealous!! Congrats!
