  1. I would take her comments as just being insecure about her own ability to enter the program. *rolls her eyes* Girls like that make me sick.
  2. This Fall semester will be my first semester at GTC.. I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on financial aid. I've already purchased my textbooks at the bookstore (using my financial aid credit) on Thursday.. but I'm wondering how long will it take before they mail you the financial aid check for the rest of your expenses? Thank you and good luck to everyone this semester!!
  3. It's not a requirement for my school.. however, I plan on taking it. I think it's a very good course to take so you have a deeper understanding of medical terminology.. as opposed to just memorizing definitions.
  4. It will definitely depend on your school. At my school, they will only look at the most recent grade and will only count that one.
  5. I think it depends on the school that you're applying too.. However, from what I know, they only look at the GPA of the pre-reqs along with your score on the entrance exam.
  6. Just curious..... do they say WHY you get rejected? Or do they just stamp a big fat "DENIED" on your application? LOL :)
  7. You can work part time hours. Is that an option for you? I mean, financially..
  8. I don't know where in GA you live but Gwinnett Tech offers online classes..
  9. Welcome! Keep us posted!
  10. *this is true for my school. my english 1101 transferred in from a prior school and i got an a in that class. this transferred class/credit (pre-req) will count in the overall gpa of the pre-req courses (only).
  11. Wow. Thank you for sharing their story with us.. :redbeathe
  12. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. i was just curious.. why did you choose a career in nursing? i always love to read everyone's story. please share. :)
  14. I agree.. Math shouldn't hold you back. Some subjects will need the extra effort, extra hours of studying/practicing and that's ok.
  15. Yes, I have an 11 month old at home. The baby isn't the one that interrupt me.. it's my husband! LOL He sometimes doesn't know how to entertain the baby so the baby will end up crying and my husband ends up interrupting me. (>. I will definitely have to find a place to study .. outside of the house.
  16. I like the idea of this Livescribe!!!
  17. I do great writing notes and sometimes re-writing them with additional side notes. Like I said, I've never used a recording device in my previous universities.. so this would be my 1st time trying. I just want to make sure I don't miss anything. :)
  18. Knitting/crocheting myself a few Fall pieces to add to my wardrobe and start getting familiar with Medical Terminology. :)
  19. I am the kind of student that is ALWAYS writing notes.. almost to the point where I try to write everything the professor says.. word for word. Through the years, I've learned to only write down what I think is important. I think I like the way you (ebailey1218) use it. I like the idea of taking note of the time whenever I feel I might've missed something. I've done pretty well without recording my lectures so maybe I'll continue this way unless I feel otherwise.. Thank you!
  20. I've never used a tape/digital recorder at any of my previous schools.. however, I'm seriously thinking of using one during my lectures. I'm not even sure what the school's policy is on using such devices. I couldn't find it in their student handbook. I guess I will have to ask this Saturday during orientation. So my question is.. do you use a digital recorder during your lectures? Do you find it useful? Or is it time consuming? Do you find yourself spending another hour listening to the whole lecture again? Any input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
  21. Unfortunately, I've also encountered RNs like the ones you described above.. in actual hospitals. I've encountered a few that looked MISERABLE and treat you like just another person in a room as opposed to an actual patient who needs care. These same few, are the same ones that won't crack a smile, don't even say hi to you upon entering the room.
  22. I will admit, I have moments of panic. For example, last night I lost hours of sleep worrying about my first semester back in school. Then I have moments where I think about my son and once again I am motivated to pursue this dream, not only for myself and for those who I will care for .. but also to provide my son with the best. I know this will be a challenge but I've never been a stranger to challenges. In the end, I know every worry, every stressful moment, even every tear (because I KNOW there will be some!) will be worth it..
