Finding CNE course for RN license renewal.
Does bsn courses count towards cne credits? I read on the BON website that academic courses taken towards a degree in nursing will count but has it worked for anyone here? I just want to be sure.

Health Insurance rates...
I ended up getting insurance for myself with blue cross blue shield of Texas for $110/month. I am generally healthy and don't go to the doctor often so I chose a plan in case of emergencies or a catostrophic event. Deductible is 2500 then coinsurance is 25%. Out of pocket limit is deductible plus 3000. So most I would pay out of pocket annually is 5500 of something bad ever happens to me. I hope I chose a decent. It also covers preventative care 100%.

Health Insurance rates...
Is it better to get insurance through your employer or just buy it yourself? I don't have any insurance as of right now but want to get some sort of insurance in case something happens. I am single with no kids so it would be just for me. When my employer had open enrollment it stated it would be give or take $130 per pay period so that's about 260+ a month. When I looked at individual insurance plans online. There were plans for give or take $150 a month.

The University of Texas at Arlington
This is my last week in the research course. Sometimes it can be a pain waiting for other group members to do their part or wait for a response for an assignment. I'm so glad it's almost over with this class. I'd rather do the assignments individually. This fall I'll be taking an elective co-op class, vulnerable populations, capstone, and govt. I haven't had any other problems with the program. I'm just ready to finish the program.

UT Arlington Online RN-BSN July 2, 2012 Hopefuls
Usually there is discussion board or quiz due in the middle of the week like wednesday. Most assignments and papers are due Saturday or Sunday. The assignments are divided weekly so for instance in week one you would have discussion board usually due Wednesday and then maybe a quiz or paper due Saturday or Sunday. I work about 5-6 days a week, 8 hr shifts and I did not struggle with the assignments. I would work on them after work or on my day off. I suggest you get a calendar and mark when everything is due and then use time management to figure out when you would set aside time for school

The University of Texas at Arlington
I started the nursing courses in January and have been taking 2 nursing courses at a time. I also remember in the course map it just said that no more 2 were allowed to be taken at a time. I don't remember hearing the academic advisor tell me I could only take one at a time.

Academic partnership requirement at UTA
Students from out of state are admitted. Some of my classmates are from many states all over. You do not have to be partnered with any participating hospitals. I think that is for the on campus bsn program

Nursing Research Course
I've started nursing research this week and I am beginning to stress out! I wish they could've done this course without the group assignment because it sucks having to wait for other students in your group to respond and not knowing if we will make our assignment deadline in time.

Wait for bsn to job hunt or not?
Thanks for your input everyone, really appreciate it. I already know that many hospitals might not take pedi home health as experience but I will try anyways. I am going to get my ACLS and PALS just to make myself stand out and see if that will help. There are so many different things you can do in nursing. I'm still indecisive about which to do! But I'm leaning towards ER and kinda been thinking about nicu.. Still unsure lol. Thanks everyone again

Wait for bsn to job hunt or not?
Hi everyone, I graduated in may 2010 and began doing pediatric home health in September 2010. I am still soon pediatric home health and currently in school to obtain my bsn. I will finish with y bsn program this December. I want to work in the hospital setting but don't know when I should start looking for positions. Should I wait till I finish my bsn or should I go ahead and try now? I am leaning towards an ER position. I am willing to get ACLS and PALS certified if necessary. Thanks for your input in advance.

UT Arlington Online RN-BSN July 2, 2012 Hopefuls
I'm about half way through the program. Hopefully I will finish by December. I started in october but had a couple pre reqs to do. I started the first nursing course (professional nursing a & b) in January. I've been doubling up and taking two classes at a time because I want to finish quickly and get my bsn done and over with lol. So far it isn't too bad. Some assignments may be time consuming but you just have to manage your time and put aside some time to work on assignments. But overall I think it's a good program, it's organized weekly and they tell you what's due each week. I don't think the assignments are hard but some may be time consuming on how you work and do your assignments.

Each week there are assignments, discussions, quizzes, etc. due on certain days. I would take your laptop on vacation if you have one or if you can't then you might have to push the start date to the next one

Need some advice regarding sequence of classes
I think you should take your general classes first. You can't start professional nursing (first nursing course you have to take first) without taking english comp 1 and 2 first. And you must take statistic before nursing research and technical writing is a pre req to one of the courses i forgot which one. I would get those general ed classes out of the way first then you can take any classes in any order afterwards. Except professional nursing must be first nursing course and capstone last

Capstone
Can you take Capstone with a General Ed class? When i first receive my course map for the program, it said: All nursing courses and general ed classes must be taken before Capstone and Capstone must be the last course taken. I was hoping to take it together with Govt since the dates will overlap each other so that i can finish the program by the end of fall 2012.
