Yes...Stats in the fall for me also! Was thinking about taking at the community college in my hometown as I would save about $200. I just have to make sure it is equal to UTA's course. I also have the HIST classes to take but I think I will enjoy those. You are right about other giving good guidance on here. It was the comments on here that made me finally decide on UTA! I will let you know if I do get a FB site going (but so far, not allot of interest).

Thanks much amyrnfa for the reply! I will see if I get a bit more interest in a FB page and if I do, I will create a page. I know it would be easier for me to check in there than here. If there doesn't seem to be an interest, I would LOVE to stay in touch with you! Engl Comp II is first on the list form me, then Tech Writing. What I am most dreading is STATS!! Once I make it through that, I will be a happy girl! Tami

my belly is full of butterflies as i am starting university of texas arlington rn-bsn program june 4th! i would love to have a resource of other rn's in the same boat and besides this wonderful site, i thought fb might be a nice avenue for connecting. would there be any interest if i created a group? i did see a thread where someone else attempted to start a group but it does not appear it came to fruition (as evident by the post and by me being unable to find on fb)! let me know what you think! tami:)

Need ideas to reward nurses that successfully pass their CCRN
We give a .50 cent an hour increase in pay for national certifications. The nurses love it!

Let me get this clear
For all the old bats, battle axes and newbie RN's, as an RN and nurse recruiter for both a union and non-union hospital, I will tell you how I come up with the wages I offer candidates. ALL NEW GRADS come it at the same wage, $30.00. This is for both the union and non-union hospital. Experienced RN's come in based on a variety of factors; EXPERIENCE as an RN (I also consider and give partial credit for relevant, previous experience as an LPN/LVN, CNA, Resp Therp, etc). EQUITY in the unit, ie...I have to consider the RN's currently working in the unit. I do my very best to fairly compensate an RN for her years, skills and experience but I also have to consider what the RN's on the unit who have the equal amount of skills and experience are making. It does not sit well with already employed RN's to have a new RN (with equal skills and experience) brought in at a higher wage. CERTIFICATIONS that are relevant and above the requirements for the job such as; CCRN, AORN, TNCC, TEAM, etc. The union hospital does have a cap as to what I can offer RN's, this being $38.50, which I find a bit frustrating. I feel an RN with 20+ years experience, who has an excellent work history and references, deserves more. In my non-union hospital, I have a bit more flexibility, which I appreciate. I always try to put myself in the candidates shoes and being an RN myself with 20+ years experience, I want them to receive a wage they are deserving of. P.S. - I do not contact other area hospitals to find out what they are offering candidates. While there are market evaluations in regards to what other hospitals of similar size are offering, we do not confer with them directly.
