Need advice on my uniform fit
I had the same problem with L and XL...I bought 2 of the large and 1 of the XL for the uncomfortable days lol....Either way, I'm not too happy with the way that brand fits either. The womens shirts sort of bunch up too. That said....wooooo I start Monday!!!

How long is your commute to nursing school?
About an hour and twenty, depending on traffic :) I won't know about clinicals until they get schedule, but they are all over, with the closest being about an hour away... With 3 kids at home, I look at it as much needed down time. :)

How to deal with unsupportive people.
I agree with this totally. Only your actions can show her that she is...umm...misguided in her attitude. You may also want to find a way to let her know that yes, you respect her thoughts and that you appreciate her concern, but that right now you are doing something for you and your children and that support is what you need. My mom is quite like yours, always looks to the negative, and I have to handle her with "kid gloves" and explain that even if she had to fake it a little, I needed her support and that if something bad DID happen, she could do the "I told you so" dance for a year! Good luck to you!

Microbiology - Summer 2012
Ha!! I feel the same way! Seriously, bored, I've read 2 books, caught up on tv (thank you Netflix!), and that's it, I am just wallowing in my boredom! I think my obsessive behaviors have migrated into my education! Lol

Microbiology - Summer 2012
I start Micro June 25th...I'm pretty excited! I love all things science! I have my books, and since I have such a long (and boring!!!) break, I may look up the syllabus and start reading it. I know, biggest nerd possible alert, but really, I have nothing better to do somedays at work and it will help me stop counting the days until I start the nursing program in August :) Good luck and can't wait to see how we all do!

I just can't get motivated.
I read a book once that said to envision the end before working on the beginning. That really helped me in my study habits. When I don't feel like doing something, or writing that paper, I look toward what I am working for. Goals my first semester of prereqs: just prove to myself that I could actually do it. My second semester: keep that high GPA and even make the dean's list and get into that honor society ( I did!!) My third semester: keep up that high GPA so I could get into the nursing program. Those small goals and envisioning myself reaching them helped me gather the motivation to get it done. If that doesn't work, reward yourself :) Say, if you finish that paper, you get one free day to play! Best of luck to you!! Also...I am 35...that is just a number! :)

Nursing...Decisions, Decisions
I would do RN vs. LPN. I know some people VERY happy in their LPN positions, but also know quite a few who are working extra hard to get their RN and wish they would have gone straight for it. You are already working in the field, so if you know that it's what you want to do, I would suggest jumping in with both feet! As far as the ADN vs. BSN, it would have to be a personal choice. Personally I went the ADN route, but while taking my prerequisites, I have also takes the prerequisites for BSN so I can get my license, and a job(!), then go back (taking online course through Texas Tech-guess that depends where you live) while I am working to get my BSN. It just depends what you have the time/desire to do! Best of luck to you!!

I'm interested in nursing but not sure...
I'm not sure about where you want to go to school, but at the school I am going to you are in school most of the day Monday-Thursday with class 2 days and clinicals 2 days. So I know go 5 day. It's pretty much a full time deal. But I would suggest calling your prospective schools and just asking them. They are all usually pretty available to answer any questions we have. Good luck!

Getting impatient
I am like a person crazy with impatience! I know it's not rational, because like you guys, I have a couple/few more weeks to go. But I still check the mail with a little blind hope that there will be a letter from the program :) I have the patience of a toddler in a puppy/candy store... Good luck and I hope you get the letters you are waiting for soon with great news!

OK sorry everyone
Admitting you may have been wrong is a very mature thing to do. I have to admit, I am ADDICTED to my phone, it is with me All the time. HOWEVER, it is on silent (NOT vibrate, silent) at all times, and I do not text, or even check my texts except for at break. I understand what you mean about different generations and this being the tech gen, but being an adult, you know when to put down the phone. I am very close with my family as well, and they are close enough to me to respect that I am in class and not to text me during. You may be correct in you ability to multitask (although with your teacher's noticing your texting, and your grades, I highly doubt it), but think of the others around you. Believe it or not, a student who is tap tap taping on their phone constantly does get distracting. Best of luck to you and I DO hope that you do well in your classes.

Is it possible to be too emotional for nursing?
That story broke my heart! And at the same time reinforced why I want to be a nurse! Thank you for posting something so personal and please know that your story has had a great effect on me. Also, best of luck to your friend having (or have already had?) twins!

Nursing School 2012
Have you heard back yet? I don't expect anything until the end of April, but I will still obsessively check that mailbox daily :) Good luck! Where are you applying to?

My Teacher Hates me!!!!
This must be some sort of troll...BUT I have had classes with students just like this! Rude, disruptive, entitled, and just plain annoying to people who really want to learn and don't think it should just be given to us. If it, in some bizzaro way, is not a joke, then I would suggest growing up, putting away your phone, and take a good hard look at what you really want out of life. This isn't high school, and it's not free. Also, the whiny aspect of the OP makes me cringe!

Going Crazy!
Congratulations!! Very happy for you! :) :w00t:

Summer 2012 - Check in
I'm going to just focus on Micro this summer. I absolutely love all things science, but I have heard this is a harder course. Being that I am insane , I wanna keep my 4.0 science GPA and this seems the smartest way to go, plus I've already done all of my other prereqs and coreqs (finishing the last half of A&P II now). Good luck everyone!!
