BSU Spring 2013 Applicants
My prereq GPA was 3.73. I basically have zero healthcare experience, except volunteering at a hospital. You should be fine! I think that the admissions people like to see a well rounded candidate (open to new cultures, etc...) so not having a 4.0 or tons of healthcare experience won't disqualify you.

Please help my school search!!!
Yes, there is an ABSN program (at Idaho State University) located near my school as well. They look at prereq GPA, TEAS score and an interview. I was going to apply there to start in the Spring but was accepted to my school (and I wanted to start as soon as possible)

Please help my school search!!!
My school only looks at GPA for Statistics, A&P I and II, and Chemistry along with responses to a few short essays. Oh, I go to Boise State:)

Trying to get into a nursing program, have BS in Bio
esliang, I was in a similar situation not too long ago. I graduated about a year ago with a bachelor's in Health Science, but knew that nursing was where I wanted to be. I decided to go the BSN route because of what I've also been hearing about ADNs having a harder time finding jobs. Almost all of my prereqs were covered under my bachelor's and I only had to take a few classes. As far as the issues that you've run into with the micro and physiology labs, I would say to definitely call to find out. We seem to have both taken the long way around to start nursing, but I think it will all be worth it in the end. I finished up my last prereq in the spring and I'm about to start a BSN program in a couple of weeks. Good luck!! Robyn

Fall Semester 2012
SopranoKris, I took Human Growth & Development online and I didn't think it was that bad. I really enjoyed the material so maybe that's why:) Good luck with all of your classes!!

PATHOPHYSIOLOGY?!!!
For the program I start this fall, we have the option of taking pathophysiology before or during our first semester of the program. I chose to take it before so I wouldn't have another class piled on top of what I'm sure will be a busy schedule. I took the class online and would say that it is not the hardest class I have taken but it definitely required a lot of reading/studying/etc time. I found the material to be very interesting so spending quite a bit of time on the coursework did not bother me. Good luck in whichever route you decide!! Robyn

Pre- Nursing Student + Volunteer Opp.
I currently volunteer at a hospital a couple times each week. The first hospital I called seemed to be annoyed at me asking about volunteer opportunities, so I moved on. I would highly recommend volunteering! I start a BSN program next month and hope to be able to continue volunteering at least once per week. I hope you can get ahold of someone soon:)

Three quick questions
1) what is 'standard' to put on stethoscope id tag? i was thinking first initial, last name? i was just wondering the same thing about what to put on my stethoscope id tag. since i have a pretty common last name, i am unsure on what to put. ?? 2) if you normally wear an underwire bra, do you also wear one at work or do you opt for something more comfortable like a sports bra? sports bras really annoy me so i will not be wearing one of those! 3) glasses vs. contacts in a clinical setting. thoughts? i don't wear glasses/contacts but would imagine that glasses would be easier

Advice on my schedule?
I think you can definitely do it!! Last Fall I had to take pharmacology, nutrition, human growth & development and advanced Spanish conversation. Just make sure you stay on top of all reading/assignments/etc and you'll do well. Good luck with your classes:D
