It was exactly the same for me too! Taking the pre/co req's were required in order to get into the program which is highly competitive to get into. Take all the classes you can while you are waiting and make the best grades that you can. It took me three years but I finished all the required classes and I'm about to start my second semester of nursing school. Hang in there it is definitly worth the effort and the wait! It is a very exciting journey! The "unknown", I thought would kill me before my first day of class! I was so nervous and excited, but soon it became routine! I am about to start my second semester and cannot wait! Nursing school is alot of fun and you learn so much. I have met some really great friends too. I like everyone in my class of 60 (although sometimes some people need extra attention and can rack everyone's nerves from time to time.lol.)we all help each other and are rooting for each other. My instructors are wonderful and they are pulling for us as well. I feel so blessed to be in nursing school and especially the place I am at in my life and I hope you will feel the same! I have only been through one semester but here is what my school recommends; Scan your readings first going over the bold topics,etc. Then read your readings before class. During class lecture follow along with the ppt. or whatever method your school uses. Go back over the same material again while it is fresh on your mind. If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to ask for help in understanding whatever it is. I will admit that I used to read all of the reading material but for the most part test questions come from lecture and power points given by the instructors. I am going to try to read more this semester because i believe there is a lot more material that we will be having to know this semester! Good Luck to ya and have fun! From what I understand these schools are not accredited schools and the prices of going to these schools are double or triple the price of comm. college. I would definitely research and explore what you are getting into, before you decide to commit. Good luck to you, please let us know what you find out.

I think what you mean is .45% NaCl (half normal saline) and .33% NaCl (one-third normal saline) which are hypotonic solutions used to provide free water and treats cellular hydration.They are used to promote kidney waste elimination and should not be used for patients with third spacing. I'm a student myself so let me know if I am wrong about this!

While I appreciate your feelings about the Hesi A2, I really did not feel that the test was THAT difficult. I did not use any resources whatsoever. I took the TEAS test for another school and felt that it was a much more challenging test. I just want to say that someone reading this post should not be discouraged, the most difficult part of the Hesi A2 was the A&P portion, and if you have taken A&P you should be good, besides all schools don't require all of the sections of the test. Just sayin...

Congratulations! I know how exciting this is for you! I am about to start my second semester of nursing. I love nursing school and I'm sure you will too! While it is challenging and nerve racking, it is wonderful learning all the new skills and clinicals are great! I am not a big fan of paperwork but it comes with the territory! I will be enjoying family time since we all go back to school on monday! I have been organizing, laundry, rearranging and cleaning all week! I think we will do some last minute shopping and eating out tonight, but then doing absolutely nothing but bein' lazy until sunday evening! Enjoy!

I think it depends on the state that you live in. In tx you have to get approval from the board of nursing if you have any criminal history (anything other than traffic tickets) in order to take the NCLEX. Your school should have information about it. Good Luck to ya!:)

I bought my books @ the school's bookstore. Our bundle is what we need for two years of NS and comes with all but one of the books and all the cd's that I need. I did not want to take the chance of not getting my books on time plus I get financial aid and it is just easier to but them on campus!Oh and the book company gave us a coupon for a 10% discount which saved around $70.00.

Hang in there! I bet that you are nervous because you were late, but Murphy's Law prevails at the most inconvieniant times! I agree that nurses have to be professional and your trainer is just trying to be helpful!Don't let it get to you and kill 'em with kindness (everyone, pts especially) and they will grow to love you!:cool:Have fun and learn, you can't go wrong!

It took me three years but I finally got into NS! The first year, I took one or two classes at a time, i went full time the second year but also moved. Because I moved and changed schools the requirements and prereq's were different and so I had to take yet more classes before I could apply to the program. I did finish those but it was too late to apply by then, but finally I was able to apply and got accepted! Now I start NS in less than a wek now and it is one of the best feelings ever! I feel like I have worked so hard and have accomplished alot and still have a ways to go! My program is two years (4 sem) it will be worth it though! You can do it!:)

I had A&P I and A&P II both combined 4 cr hrs each!

I start next Monday too! It can't get here fast enough! I am nervous as well. I know that NS will be demanding for me but I know my family will have to get used to it as well. So I am ready to start our new routines and get going on this great challenge I have before me! Super excited and more than ready! Good luck to all us future nurses!

I used to live in the Waco area so I have actually looked at Temple College requirements. I think that every point helps in such a competitive career choice. If you are already moving then,why not? I moved from that area last year and next week I begin my ADN program next Monday! YAAAAY!!! It was a difficult road to get in but well worth it!:yeah:Good Luck!

Awww You poor thing! I think that most of us have moments like that at one point or another! I wouldn't sweat it! I too have performance anxiety especially in a room full of strangers, but look at it this way, your fellow nursing students will be in your life for the next two years so just consider them friends. Realize that EVERYONE makes mistakes and to err is human, don't be too hard on yourself you are just learning, as time goes by it will get easier! Good luck to ya!

Each school does have its own requirements on which sections that must be taken. At one school I went to A&P was not required but at this school it is! Good Luck to You!

Yes! I know just what you mean, I start Aug.22 in ADN program and it is all I can think about! I am elated and excited and cannot wait to start but then there is Ms. evil sitting on my shoulder throwing doubts my way... Am I really smart enough? Will I be able to cope with the stress and be the nice nurse I want to be or will the stress get to me and make me act like Nurse Hatchet or something? Will I have some kind of family emergency that will shatter my dreams? What if I don't know what I am expected to know already? OH. I could go on and on! I will be so glad to start so I can get on with my life.. The NOT knowing is killing me!!!!

I am starting Grayson County College ADN program on Aug.22! I am excited too! My gpa is a 3.45 and I took the Hesi and it was 84.9% overall. Good luck everyone! I am very anxios to start the program but I am getting more nervous as the time approaches!
