  1. https://nurse.org/articles/travel-nurse-pay-caps/
  2. Read in entirety: Nurse attacked, brutally beaten by Elgin Mental Health Center patient
  3. These psych facilities continue to not get it. You staff for safety in Psych. Sue the facility.
  4. At my facility, we don’t have 400mg Seroquel tabs so we give 2 of the 200mg. if a patient only takes 1, I can’t force them to take 2. in my case if they agree to take 1 instead of 2 that’s what they will get and I will chart it. now if it’s a 300mg tablet that I pull from Pyxis but they only want 200mg I couldn’t go pull a 200 anyway so if they refuse the tablet, I’ll chart refused in mar. Haldol, we don’t have 10mg tabs, so we give 2 of the 5mg. If a patient agrees to 1 I will give 1 and chart it in mar. any case we have multiple tabs to make the ordered dose I will give less if patient agrees. Better to get 1 500mg Depakote ER in them than none if they won’t take 3 of the 500mg
  5. Muno, I’ve read and enjoyed your posts for years but in this instance, I don’t even know where to begin to respond. I am a diabetic, wearing a insulin pump right now, intentionally in ketosis, and have been for a long time like many diabetics.
  6. I work in a 36 bed facility. Each nurse gives report to oncoming nurse that is assigned patients. The assignment from shift to *** can vary slightly so you may get report from 2 nurses or even 3+ maybe depending on who did an admission that got placed in your assigned territory.
  7. These fill in nurses crossing the picket line for $840 a day in Chicago. Good money now, but don’t let those 2200 nurses see your face. Don’t cross a picket line.
  8. Difficult to comment on salary without knowing where you're at. 120k in one place might be 150k in another place. All depends on cost of living.
  9. I deal with fake falls all the time. When they do it, we discontinue all narcs. Narcotics are fall risk drugs and we don't want them to fall again.
  10. If I'm reading it right, it's sliding scale, that's just correcting a high sugar so I totally get that, doesn't matter if they eat or not. Now if it was a scheduled 15 units then I would be curious if what I said above my edit is happening.
  11. Why? I'd rather be fired and possibly collect unemployment while I seek new job.
  12. Union hospital on top of saturated market. People get hired at Stroger and stay.
  13. The is no requirement for BSN to obtain magnet status. It is 1 of the biggest lies in nursing next to Joint Commission caring about having a closed bottle at your workstation.
  14. ADN programs at community colleges are extremely difficult to get in to. They are inexpensive and extremely competitive. Accelerated BSN programs are usually expensive, but you'd end with a BSN in the same time-frame.
  15. Every other news source that reported it called her a nurse too. Sadly, the girl is dead. Let's let her be a nurse in memory and not worry about if she was one or not and which news organization reported it.
  16. I haven't read all the comments and I hope someone has already said something similar. Matt Lauer supposedly physically touched. I am a male nurse and I "sexually harass" every single female on my unit and they do it right back. I wouldn't have it any other way, we are family. I have NEVER touched a coworker without her permission and if anyone was ever offended, I would stop immediately with that person. We got a new bladder scanner on our unit and a few of the nurses said "Come on, let's test this thing on you and see that thing you got." And of course I let them. Work would be boring if we didn't have fun with each other. It makes us closer and family. I ask coworkers all the time to show me their "t word." Heck, I did it tonight. Once again, if ANYONE ever asked me to stop, I would.
  17. On rare occasions, I give myself insulin through my shirt, but would never do on a patient.
  18. The 2 biggest lies in nursing right now is that Joint Commission cares about drinks in the nursing station and that Magnet Status has something to do with BSN push. Neither are true.
  19. Another tall I found is Landau 7489. Which Cherokee did you find with 32" Center Back Length? The 4701? I don't know about the stretch. I'm on a hunt too, my 4701's are getting worn out and I'm so disappointed they are discontinued.
  20. Larger sizes don't usually give more length.
  21. Cherokee 4701. I'm 6'4" and plenty of length. It is specifically a Tall Sized Scrub top. EDIT - Unfortunately, this top may have been discontinued as I'm looking around at different online shops.
  22. Based strictly on the 4 things you have listed, I'd tell you Resurrection University.
  23. I would think the scheduled insulin would be for the meal and the sliding scale be for correction.
  24. I don't care what policy is, if I get a 40 on blood sugar, I'm dumping a juice down pts throat.
  25. I'd say around $34-$35. Chicago oversaturated though and cost of living very high. I'm from Corbin, KY area originally. When my kid graduates, I'm out of Illinois. Flex pay $45-$52
