  1. I know IRMC does that. You apply thru STARS. Not sure about the other local hospitals. I have gotten scholarships thru stars, and almost everyone I know in the program has too :) I fill out a million each time...and then you wait forever, but its worth it! There is something else called workforce solution and they give you like 10k (not sure exact amount but it was a lot) to complete the program but you have to qualify, and like me, it sounds like you do not.
  2. If you can do basic math, which I am going to assume you can since you got in you will be more than fine. Until advanced, there are just 2 *formulas* and by then you will be super comfortable going into critical care drips. I bought the Math for Meds, and manual of IV therapeutics and have never cracked either one open.
  3. Kinda 2 years. lol I started Jan last year, will finish in Oct if all goes well. We take summer 2 off. I love the test book! Still use it although not as much as at first :) I have to say this one, Advanced, has been my favorite. We did a rotation in the ER, which was the only place I could actually ever see myself being a nurse. That was the icing on the whole semester. I also really liked maternity, but only bc L&D was exciting. Postpartum was blah. Here's a colace, next, here's a colace, next.....lol Ask anything you like :)
  4. Congrats guys!!! You have quite a ride ahead. I am currently in advanced, with one more class to go! Finally getting somewhere I have to say I have been really impressed with IRSC...instructors are amazing, warm, helpful even the ones you may be warned NOT to take lol I have to agree with the enjoy your summer advice especially if you are high strung, high stress (like me!)
  5. An A! I just got my first B ever now in medsurg
  6. May as well try. I find a small group, just me and one other person to be helpful....but more than that I don't learn a thing.
  7. A monkey could give shots, Nurses are so much more :)
  8. Run, kayak, we frequently visit my parents and friends out of town :)
  9. Wait. Absolutely wait.
  10. I was going to suggest that exact same book as not.done.yet. It is worth every penny, and I think it's only $16!
  11. I would say more ppl in my program have kids than don't. A lot of them A students still. Me included. It can be done.
  12. Our physicals and shots shots shots were due after the mandatory meeting, we got the forms and information there. So excited for you guys!!!! lol
  13. Here is my advice...learn to IGNORE. Let's say she drops out this time again and she's gone and life is great! There is another one of *those* around the corner. You will work with one, have one for an in-law, a patient, or maybe all the above lol.....learning to shut it out now may benefit you in the long run
  14. Awesome! What a great area of pt teaching, maybe you have found your calling :) Be the *take your dang ab's as prescribed* police. Educate your patients, family and friends about proper ab usage....someone needs to.
  15. Congrats guys!!!!! :)
  16. I'm 3 semester in now, and still have a 4.0 :) You can do it!!!
  17. Ours too! 600 applicants, 35 accepted and great reputation! It's nice to see so many in good schools :)
  18. My first fundies test was a 98!!! Wooooooo!
  19. Seriously I think you should enjoy your time off while you can. Put the books down.
  20. I was just browsing thru this site, and one of the posts from earlier this year said there were alternates with 3.8's. Also, it looks like per the college's website at least, that the CNA req will be starting Fall 12. You should be good if you get in for Spring :)
  21. Also, our program has online as well as an option, I think that's pretty standard. You still ovb have to attend lab, and clinicals. However, be warned, internet classes are not for everyone. I have see A students struggle in the online classes.
  22. I can only answer a few of those, and mostly with what I have heard and do not know first hand. hopefully someone can clarify. Keiser is around 40K for an RN degree I believe. I think that is insane. I attend a state college, and I am paying about 10k for everything. Pre req's included. And I think it depends on whether your Keiser location is accredited as to if the credits will transfer? Someone correct me here. That being said I have read enough about private schools and heard the horror stories about NOT being able to transfer a damn thing that you probably couldn't pay me to attend one. As far as acceptance req's, my institute looked at GPA yes, but they accepted students based on a point system, which is different everywhere. For the class I got in with, there was a total of 215 possible points, and the cut off was 195. 35 students, 600 applicants. Very competitive. I have heard Manatee has a good program :) Maybe go and talk to someone, with your transcripts and see where they think you stand...what you could improve etc...
  23. That would be a no-no for my school. Hair and all its pieces must be above collar. But I would def ask someone at your institution :)
