  1. Congrats kllj0315! Did you do anything special to get such a quick NCLEX test date?
  2. I am starting clinicals in the Fall 2011 and I was not given the opportunity to move up to an earlier start date. I also know people who are starting Spring 2012 and they haven't been given an earlier start date either.
  3. Passed South Carolina CNA Exam on 11/6/10 Skills: Handwashing Weight Nail Care Turn Patient on Side Elastic Hose
  4. Congratulations, it sounds like you can handle anything that comes your way. Be proud!
  5. Monik Sims replied to kagkat's topic in General Nursing
I used to do volunteer work with teenagers and I spoke on this topic often and the best resources is going to be the library and the local health department. You will exceed the mininum requirement of 5 sources if you go to these places.
  6. Yes some of us do! I have to double up no matter what I am wearing. Consider yourself lucky that you have never had this be an issue!
  7. Thanks Barbie! I received mine today as well. I see that Fall 2010 clinical students have first priority. My clinical start date is not until August 2011. Monik
  8. Barbie, I just spoke with Judy Jones and she said the interest card for the Fall 2010 Evening/Weekend Clinicals will go out in the mail soon. Can you let me know when you receive your interest card and I will do the same? Thanks! Monik
  9. Thanks for the insightful post Katie803 and Sahm02.
  10. I am married with 1 child and my mother is moving from across the country to help my husband with my son, while I study. I think you should move in with your mother.
  11. Congratulations!
  12. I bust out laughing when I read this. I know that becoming a Nurse is very important to me and others and everyone wants to make sure they do everything right which in some cases can lead to extreme behaviors.
  13. Congratulations! Your story is inspirational and heart warming.
  14. I remember when Doctors could do what you just described. I wonder if someone forgot to tell her that the laws had changed.
  15. Have you looked into Art Therapy? I went on indeed.com (did not plug in a city) but I found Art Therapists are employed at LTC facilities and children's hospitals. Good luck on whatever you decide!
  16. I am a Workers Comp claims adjuster and this is definitely a Work Comp case. You should hire an attorney. However, employers do have the right to fire you if are out of work for a significant amount of time. For the employers I work with, they fire people after 180 days of being out of work.
  17. Since nursing is a career change for me, a back up plan hasn't even crossed my mind. I am going to pray and if nursing doesn't work then I will cross that bridge when I get to it.
  18. I remember trying to read my Ultrasound Tech's facial expression when I was pregnant. She didn't show any expression at all. I thought she was being expressionless on purpose because she was trying to hide that fact that something was wrong. Nothing was wrong she was just doing her job. Speaking as a patient, we create all types of scenarios in our mind no matter what. Try not to be too hard on yourselves. It's us not you! LOL!
  19. I think Medical Terminology provides a good foundation for future A&P courses. I am taking Medical Terminology now and I see how it is going to benefit me long term.
  20. Sahm02, how was the evening program? Did you keep your day job while you were in school? I went to Part 1 Orientation today and my clinical start date is August 2011 but if they open up an evening program, I can start Fall 2010. They will not let students know about the evening/weekend program until April.
  21. If you go to indeed.com and put in LPN for Columbia, SC http://www.indeed.com/jobs?q=LPN&l=Columbia%2C+SC maybe you can find something on there. Good luck on your search. Hang in there!
  22. Thanks Katie803 for that good advice. I was contemplating when to complete BIO 210 and now I definitely know that I should take everything I can before I start in the actual ADN program. I am starting medical terminology next week with Touchet.
