If I may-- I understand that navigating all your options can be confusion and overwhelming. I would not recommend that you do a direct entry MSN program in which you would obtain an entry level RN license. This path is very expensive and you will not achieve anything more than you would would taking the BSN route. You do not need a MSN to gain entry into a DNP program. If you know before hand exactly what specialty you would like to pursue as a NP then a direct entry MSN program may be a better option for such fields as Family, Peds, or Psych. Most acute care NP and CRNA programs will require experience in specific units.

Yeah most colleges have that 5 year stipulation. And unfortunately even if you complete a LPN program prior to going back to a BSN program you will still have to fall within the 5 year period for your science courses.

If you currently hold an Associate Degree in Nursing and enter directly into a MSN program then courses that you normally would have taken to move to a BSN will be worked into the program. So in the end the education will be the same. Some programs will even award the BSN at a certain point into the program.

I would say that this very program specific as well as if you are attending part time or full time... The program I attended was some days would be mornings - some mornings to afternoon - then finally our clinical days would be 6-8 hours plus driving time (then time to complete care plan.) Students that worked in our program generally had part time jobs that were mostly evening type work.. such as wait staff or nurse aides and the such... I would recommend reaching out to current/past students of your program or the program staff directly. Best of luck.

Sorry to say but will probably be a tough sell.. most of the requirements are those of the clinical sites that you will be in and not of the program alone... best best is to reach out to the program ASAP for a specific answer. At worst they may defer you enrollment by a semester.. Best of luck.

If you have the time and an aptitude for sciences then it should be fine.. I took Microbiology and A&P at the same time without any issue... A in both courses. Best of luck.

CA mostly likely does not have a specific requirement for a course named "capstone" however there is a requirement that you must be a graduate from a board approved nursing program and if the program that you are attending has a requirement that you must pass a "capstone" course in order to graduate then I'm afraid that you will need to pass this course in order to sit the NCLEX. All federal student loans at the graduate level are in fact unsubsidized loans with the yearly limit being 20,500. I am not familiar Minute Clinic... but unless your program director is willing to guarantee a job after graduation with at least a matching (if not higher salary) then they have no right to say anything about the decisions that you make in regard to your and your family --- IMHO

Then feel assured that most of the $$ that is paid to these sites goes to the administrators of the site. Very little (a very small % of what a student pays) goes to the preceptor. ?

If PearsonVue allowed you to pay for a re-test and your state BON is requesting an application re-examination then chances are high that your 1st NCLEX attempt was not successful. You will receive a candidate performance report regarding your exam that will indicate how you preformed on each of the testing content areas - passing, near passing, or below passing. Any state that you apply to will require documentation of completion of an approved nursing program... such as an official transcript.. If the program that you attended has now closed --- is this something that you will be able to obtain?

I'm confused --- were you awarded a degree? or are you simply referring to the ceremony where your names are called and you walk across a stage to receive the case you will eventually place your diploma in?

Sounds like the students are called into a room - given a clinical situation - then graded on their performance.

Make sure to research and apply for the HRSA scholarship. If you can get this then you may not even need those private loans :)

I think that you are very wise to double think this plan... please consider that 88$ thousand is a huge amount of debt as you start out your career... and 1/2 of that is going to be private loans that do not always offer the same protections and advantages as federal loans may such as income based repayment plans, forbearance if a life event makes it difficult to make payments, public service loan forgiveness if you happen to work in a participating facility during your repayment period.. Also have you looked into qualifying for 40k in private loans? Have the credit score necessary and most will require a co-signer.. have someone willing to take on this responsibility on your behalf? There is nothing wrong with taking the longer (more cost effective) route to your goals... I myself changed careers in my late 40's... attended a 2 year BSN program at a local state university then also went on to earn my FNP (again local state university) both these degrees combined did not cost me 70k and I was able to pay cash with planning and saving --- continue to work PT.. and tuition assistance provided by my employer.. Today I'm working full time... enjoy my job... and have no student loan debt hovering over me. Think it through -- as it is evident you are doing -- then make the best choice for you based on facts and not emotions. Best of luck.

You could either get your nursing degree and apply to a military loan repayment program or you could enlist and serve the minimum amount of time necessary to qualify for the military tuition grant program and/or the GI bill. Best of luck.

I find it hard to believe that any physical assessment text would not give the expected normal findings per system along with the abnormal ones. You may have to find them chapter by chapter instead of a handy dandy list form that can simply be copied and quoted into a paper. Best of luck.

Another consideration is that I had a couple classmates that found themselves in this situation and they ultimately found a LPN program then did the LPN-RN bridge.. all are now paid/working RNs with one currently in a APRN program... so keep your head and spirits up.. this is not the end of the world.. Have you tried the Hurst review course? It is very content based, covered system by system, and as I recall provided some pretty good testing strategies. A study plan like this combined with practice questions will help to identify weak areas in which you can go back to text books for a more in depth review and have you more prepared for the this next NCLEX.
