I completely agree! It's hard to explain what I felt when my test shut off at 75 questions. I was sure I failed and honestly I would have given anything for it to come back up on my screen. I only rememeber that I got lots of SATA and bits and pieces of the test itself. I also got teh good pop up, but am not as confident about its meaning. Either way, congratulations on passing this ridiculously painful hurdle.

the site does say that it is accredited by the nlnac go to http://keiseruniversity.edu/accreditation.php . under the programmatic heading go down to the 10th and 11th paragraphs and you will see what you claimed wasn't there to begin with. it seems like you are very misinformed and are spreading false information. i attend keiser university lakeland campus and so far i've had a great experience. this is like the 4th thread where you have spread false information. i'm not saying this is the best program out there because i don't attend those other programs, but you are giving false information to people that come to this site looking for advice and help regarding a very stressful decision. i suggest telling them to do their own homework and fact checking. you seem so confident in what you are saying, but you are so obviously wrong. as far as a as not being transferable, what constitutes as a transferable degree is an aa degree. hcc says the same thing about their as degrees. many colleges and universities will accept your aa degree because it can be incorporated into many of their programs and you just pick up where you left off. in many cases you may transfer many of your classes taken via an as, but an aa degree signifies you have taken all required gen ed classes such as humanities, public speaking, literature, ethics, etc. an asn degree from keiseru can be transfered to another nursing program because it's regionally accredited. as i said before keiser university is sacs accredited that means it is accredited by the same regional accrediting body as hcc, usf, ucf, phcc and st. pete college to name a few. i did my homework before i decided to apply at keiser because my money and how i spend it is very important to me. yes, the program is more expensive, but some of us have made informed decisions about our education and the cost of it. if anyone out there wants to check for themselves, here is some information that may help you make up your own mind: nlnac - nlnac.org 1-866-747-9965 or 404-975-5000 sacs - http://www.sacscoc.org/ 404-679-4500 fbon - http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/ 850-245-4125

at keiseru they will give you your official start date, but once you start your classes you can get bumped up if you maintain great grades. i was suppose to start my nursing core in january 2011, but i got great grades in micro, psych and a&p i. i'm currently taking a&p ii and i've been bumped up to january 2010. some students lose their slots due to bad grades, some have family obligations and can't start now so decide to enter during the next class and some decide they don't want to do it anymore. just food for thought when applying. good luck.

melbourne campus is accredited, just call nlnac 1-866-747-9965. keiser univeristy ft. lauderdale, jacksonville, kendall, lakeland, melbourne, orlando, sarasota, tallahassee and west palm beach campuses are acredited by the nlnac. please don't assume things and pass them on as fact.

this is definitely how false information gets spread around and people bypass a great program because they read incorrect information. i understand how everyone should be cautious, but statements should be based on facts. i called the nlnac today at 4:55pm and a representative took down my email and responded to my inquiry at 5:09pm. she confimed that the melbourne campus is accredited by the nlnac. apparently the lakeland, melbourne, ft. lauderdale, orlando, jacksonville, kendall, sarasota, tallahassee and west palm beach campuses are nlnac accredited. if anyone has any doubts, i suggest conducting your own research and call them yourselves 1-866-747-9965. if you want me to forward the email to you, just pm me. good luck everyone!

BumblebeeRN, I read where you wrote this on another post, so I emailed the NLNAC today. I am curious as to why this is and I also want to know if each campus has to have its own accreditation. I should hear something soon...

i agree with kayty2339. i am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. take this time to plan when would be the earliest you can realisticly get back in school. find out when the next couple of start dates are and have everything lined up and ready to go. my daughter was 13 when we had our second little girl. i don't know if it's because i'm alittle older now, but i really enjoyed the second time around. i have more patience and things aren't that serious. i jsut got back in the swing of things this past august and my little sunshine is 2 yrs old. it is heartbreaking sometimes because i can't spend as much time with her as i want to, but i put everything on hold for my first child and this time around i'm gonna get it out of the way before life gets in the way of my goals. just hang in there, because before you know it, you'll be back in school. good luck to you.

i do agree that you have to do your research, but not all private schools are bad. everest is definitely a school to be weary of. this school just didn't sit well with me. my gut was telling me to run!!! but keiser university was a whole different experience and i'm proud to be a student there.:redpinkhe

keiser university in lakeland is regionally accredited by sacs http://www.sacscoc.org/ check it out just click on the state of florida and it is also nlnac accredited http://www.nlnac.org/home.htm . i almost went to everest, but i was uneasy about giving this school my money. if you want to go to a private school, keiser is a great choice. if you need the name of a great admission rep just pm me. i just started in august and i feel good incurring this debt. everest is not regionally accredited; they're just approved by the florida board of nursing. keiser accepted my credits from hcc which were english i & ii, public speaking, algebra, world literature, ethics & one of my humanities. i jsut had to take micro, a&p i & ii and psychology because i took sociology at hcc. sometimes people assume things and are not informed. no matter what you do take time and inform yourself because you could be passing up a great opportunity. also when people say keiser they may have heard things about keiser college not keiser university. there is a difference.

when i was looking for a private nursing school, i toured with everest and all their program offerings like a/c repair or something kind of turned me off. the fact that they are not sacs accredited and are not nlnac accredited made me nervous. when i asked about this, the admissions representative said "we are accredited; we wouldn't be able to offer the program if we weren't." what she meant was that they were approved by the florida board of nursing and this is not the same thing. i was about to resign to going the lpn route when i decided to tour keiser university (not keiser college). it is a private school, but it's sacs accredited which means i could transfer my credits to usf or any other school that is regionally accredited, it's also nlnac accredited which usf is not. they accepted most of my pre-reqs, so i only had to take microbiology, a&p i & a&p ii and psychology because i took sociology at hcc and they require it. so my total cost drops down to like $24,000 for a two year rn degree. so far i like my classes and i can't wait to start my nursing core. they claimed my nursing core start date was for january 2011, but once my credits came in i've been bumped up to august 2010. i finished up my micro, i'm currently taking my psychology class online and i'll start a&p i on october 23rd. after completing the rest of my classes, i hope to be bumped up to may of 2010. i know the cost is high, but keep in mind that if you have them, some of your credits will transfer. once i'm done i plan on transferring to the university of tampa for my bsn.

i go to keiser university lakeland campus. do you mean keiser university or keiser career college? there is a huge difference. not sure about medvance, but keiser university is regionally accredited http://www.sacscoc.org/ , nlnac accredited http://www.nlnac.org/forms/directory_search.htm and is also approved by the florida board of nursing http://www.doh.state.fl.us/mqa/nursing/nur_edu_info.html . i know that medvance offers the lpn program, but keiser university offers the rn program. i'm happy with my decision because i know i can transfer my credits and i'm at a school that is fully approved by all the required accrediting bodies. you may see some things on here about keiser university that are not true or may be said about keiser career college because people just say keiser. i did my own research instead of just relying on what others may have heard and i'm glad i did. i know the $$$ is on the high end, but i made a fully informed decision. i toured a different private school that was only approved by the fl board of nursing and not regionally accredited or nlnac accredited. i didn't want to go to a school that didn't have all the things i wanted. i hope you make a fully informed decison and good luck to you.

hi mark! i know exactly what you mean. i am taking an intensive microbiology class in one month. we do 5 hours a day of microbiology and the first week we had a 6 chapter test. we just had our second test on monday and it was on 5 chapters. i realized quickly that i had to ditch the index cards because it was taking to much of my time. i just make sure i memorize all the main concepts and definitions that i can. if there is anything that i am having trouble memorizing, i go to the textbook and read as much as i can on it. if the book references other pages, read that too. it will help you understand and remember the concept. concept maps really work, too. luckily for me and my fellow classmates, our professor hands out a packet on each chapter we're going over and they include many concept maps, terms and critical thinking questions. best of luck to you!

i've also been bumped up. when i first applied this summer they said my nurse core would be starting jan 2010; but once my transcripts were evaluated, i was bumped up to fall 2009. the dean said that they re-evaluate all the applicants every month. as you pass each class with a satisfactory grade and maintain a minimum 3.0 gpa you get bumped up. i'm fully expecting to start either january or may of 2010. i have 4 gen ed classes i need to take first. this semester i'll be taking a&pi, a&pii, microbiology and psychology. kwest210 i hope to pick your brain a bit about your progress through the program. best of luck to you all.

yeah, this is a typo. the book actually has a couple typos, but overall it worked for me.

yes, it's the only book i used, but i also used geography4kids.com to go over the earth science. i think the science was the most difficult for me. i must admit that i was surprised to see so many earth science questions. my best advice is to relax. i used up almost all my time for the math section becuase the first two questions through me for a loop. i spent so much time on them instead of coming back to them. i realized that i had lost my stride when i kept multiplying the same thing over and over again. i just decided to get a grip and just skip any other questions that frazzled me. once i did that, i finished the math with a few minutes to go over the ones i wasn't sure about. congrats itsirkmr! i'm glad i did as well i did. it was four of us taking our test and two of them finished like 40 minutes before the other girl and i did. i was thinking to myself, either they just guessed at many of the problems or they're pretty good. thank god i was able to acknowledge my thoughts and then just set them to the side.

yeah, i agree. i had barely 2 weeks to study and my scores were reading 92.5%, math 86.7%, science 70%, english 85.5%. my overall was 84.1% i say that to say this; all you have to do is brush up on weak points and then relax. i got my first degree years ago and it's amazing how much of that stuff actually sticks. i guess it all depends on the school. the program i'm applying to requires a certain passing score for each section. if we fail a particular section, we just retake that specific subject over. this is a great opportunity, but we can only take it twice; the initial test and the retake.
