  1. Advanced Patho Vs. Pharm

I took Advanced Assessment and Pharm at the same time. I think if I had added Patho at the same time I would have caved. I was working full-time also.
  2. need advice again...please give input

  3. (b) a Texas NCLEX candidate has approximately 75 days to take the boards as specified by their ATT (Authorization To Test). If this is not done by the expiration date, the candidate will forfeit everything- cost of the NCLEX, application for licensur...
  4. I don't want to get into a long explanation (and I do not teach for UH), but the BON can make visits to schools for many reasons. Sometimes the school can ask for the visit as well. I am sure that the students and faculty will appreciate any advice t...

  6. Any insight on Centura?

Argo, are you currently working in Vail? I have often dreamed of working there....would love to work there in the summer! Do you know if they have "seasonal" positions?
  7. Asking for Opinion/Advice from TEXAS

Seriously you should all invoke safe harbor. Safe harbor protects your license from sanction during the time the issue is undergoing peer review, but it does not protect you from civil liability. When you invoke safe harbor it must be done before acc...
  8. How long was your NP program?

Mine was a post master's program.....started in August 2007 and finished in May 2009 while working full-time. I got so little sleep that I think I really hurt my brain! Took about a year to "recover." Pace yourself!
  9. Housekeeping wish list

I suppose I am lucky, everywhere I am affiliated with has good housekeeping personnel!
  10. Is APN realistic at my age?

I went back to school in 2007 at 53 for a post-master's FNP. I finished last year and passed certification just after my 57th birthday. I think I have a lengthy career ahead of me, so I say "Go for it!" and Good Luck!
  11. AANP Certfication Exam ( I failed it)

Please don't feel like a failure, it is a tough test. I have been a nurse full-time for 33 years and have worked in critical ICUs and almost 20 years in the ER, as well as having taught for over 26 years. I took the AANP exam last October, and I agre...
  12. Patient 'found' my number on the internet...

I am more disturbed by the OP's reaction than I am to the patient calling him. I think you need to get a grip, and learn to manage your own emotional response to such situations. I would not want you for my nurse if you are not able to control yours...
  13. Does Anyone Know Anything About Nix Hospital In San Anotonio?

Just a chuckle,...I was born there 56+ years ago. I didn't know it was still there! Good luck! There are many nice places to live, just ask around. As noted before, there are many nice parks, shopping areas, and people are generally nice!
  14. Friedman Assessment Model (anyone have the long form)

Oh I hated this assignment!! Our teachers did not help at all with this, I had to search like crazy to find it. I have been a teacher for 27 years and I have never left a student "hanging" to find a resource. I won't do the work for them, but I certa...
  15. help me with answers to test

I agree that if we give you the answers you will be less likely to read the rationale that goes along with gaining the knowledge. Looking up the information not only will garner the answer but also help you learn how to find answers to questions in t...
  16. TWU Houston NP Program

My Master's degree was a pilot project that they did back in 1988 in Family with education track, no advanced practice for me at that time (it was available, I just didn't think I would ever use it, HA HA!) Times have changed! Everyone has a differe...
  17. TWU Houston NP Program

I completed a post master's program for FNP from TWU, and thought I was well prepared. Of course, I am the type who works myself silly to do well wherever I am. I think that most of the time one takes away as much as one puts in. It is a good program...
  18. Question about post CVA and blood pressure

    oops, patients
  19. Question about post CVA and blood pressure

I found the following which may be helpful, and it shows the rationale for taking BP in the nonaffected arm of stroke patints. http://www.anesthesia-analgesia.org/content/82/2/437.2.full.pdf
  20. I work with a DUMB nurse!

I am not as concerned about the person's crazy stories as I am about the unsafe care she gives, and the perceived incompetence. Document as was noted by someone else on here, and follow the chain of command in your facility for reporting unsafe beha...
  21. Any ideas how to pass medsurg?

Try to read and study for overall comprehension, then work on application of knowledge to scenarios. Check to see what kind of computer programs your college has to help you as well as online services provided by many of the textbook providers. An NC...
  22. Teaching to Nursing

I think you should investigate the possibilities. You said that the teaching shortage is a sham, and I will tell you that many nurses will tell you that the nursing shortage is a sham. However, I think that the push for nurses is just a little ahead ...
  23. I have done everything that I have
  24. I bet they thought they hushed everything up.

Sorry for the typo, I am just submitting an opinion, no need to get testy.
  25. I bet they thought they hushed everything up.

I think the most serious point is to reiterate the importance of not discussing patient care issues in public (or anywhere for that matter!) It doesn't say, but patient names might have been revealed, or worse yet, what if a patient's loved one was r...
