  1. The University of South Alabama in Mobile has an excellent BSN program. They have a one year program for people who already have a bachelor degree.
  2. Just for those who are tracking.... I took NCLEX-RN in Alabama this week and the "trick" worked for me. I checked 3 hours after I finished the test up until 3 days later when I found out that I passed and I consistently got the pop-up that stated to contact member board. I really felt awful leaving the testing site and like I had failed. This little "trick" helped me hold on to hope and get through three of the longest days of my life. (It also worked for 2 of my classmates.) Best of luck to everyone! RN, BSN baby!!! :yeah::yeah:
  3. I just watched your video. It was wonderful and beautiful! It was also very touching and insightful. Great job!
  4. :yeah:Congratulations!!!!
  5. I was in a similar boat as you. My job did offer Cobra but I could not afford it. Cobra tends to be expensive. I got insurance through the Markel Insurance Company: www.collegeinsurance.com. I'm not sure if your school is affiliated with them or not but its worth looking in to. Its not great insurance but it meets the requirement of having insurance coverage for nursing school and it costs me less than $750 per year.
  6. I was thinking the same thing. We are only allowed an ID and A car key. Nothing else...no hats, no purses, no sunglasses on the head, no pens, no pencils. The instructors answer NO questions during exam time, no exceptions. If your phone goes off, you're outta there with a zero.
  7. Yay you! Congrats on your great grade! Hang in there, be happy and proud...but you are right, don't get over confident. Keep studying. And sometimes our school takes forever to post grades and it is VERY stressful. Good luck to you!
  8. Hang in there! This too shall pass. Just get through one day at a time. Hopefully your husband will be back home soon to help you with the children. You made it through your first semester, don't quit now. Talk to your clinical instructor to help you clear up expectations and boundaries at clinicals. If you are the praying kind, pray. It always helps me to turn the stress over. Get off of here and go study. I get super stressed too and then I think how much I will regret it if I give up and how far I've come, how hard I've worked, and how much money I've got invested. Then I get up the next day and start over. Each day you are one day closer to graduating. Just keep on keeping on. Best of luck to you!!
  9. I don't live in your state so I don't have any knowledge about their schools or reputations. My advice would be to go to the Oregon Board of Nursing's website and look for accredited programs. And then I would make appointments at schools to talk to an advisor for the school of nursing and find out where your are at with their requirements and what you can do to get in their program. Take your transcripts with you when you go. Sometimes it is better to talk to someone in person. Best of luck to you!
  10. At my school you have to get a 95% to pass the dosage calc class. We then take a dosage calc exam before we begin each new clinical rotation and have two chances to get a 95% or you cannot go to clinicals that rotation.
  11. 1000 ml = 1 liter 1,000ml/10,000u x 1,000u/hour = 1,000,000/10,000 = 100ml/hour
  12. I have heard good things about the University of South Alabama's online programs. http://www.southalabama.edu/nursing/index.html For whatever its worth....
  13. Does the question possibly say the dr is increasing the drip BY 500units/hr? 100units = 1 ml The patient is already getting 7ml (or 700 units) per hour, if you increase it BY 500 units (or 5ml) then the answer would by 12ml/hour (7ml+5ml).
  14. Oops...sorry....I put an explanation to your other problem up. Same concept though. 25,000 x 7 = 175,000 500 x 1 hr = 500 175,000 divided by 500 = 350
