  1. Flight nurse or anyone, I have two gen eds., micro and humanities to complete. If I sign up by 10/2 for the Special, do I have to complete the two gen eds within the year? Should I sign up, start the nursing courses, and worry about the two gen eds later after the CPNE?
  2. afqn, i have printed them off, if you would like, i can mail you a copy. let me know your address. consider it a belated x-mas gift. email me your address: please do not post email addresses in the public message boards. others can email you from your profile. thanks- bbfrn, mod
  3. Thanks so very much, you've earned your spot in heaven writing your experience and notes. Merry Christmas!
  4. Excellent choice! We're all in the same boat. Manage your time to study, bring flashcards with you wherever you go. You'll be fine.
  5. Florida, You can finish any general classes by taking CLEP tests (go to google and type in "CLEP") you obtain your study materials and take the test at a college near you, you pass or fail. If u choose to go through Excelsior College, they accept some CLEP classes, some not. You can take any classes for nursing up to and including Nursing 1 without enrolling. Enrollment is about $895. You have to find your schedule to study and stick to it while working, otherwise family, etc. gets in the way. You'll do fine. Also If you call admissions at Exc. they are helpful at answering questions. Reading thru these threads answers a lot also.
  6. You should have received your results right away. Wherever you took the exam, contact them and inquire. Good luck hope you passed; I'm sure you did!
  7. You can go through Excelsior.edu and if you have any generals to finish take them through a community college or CLEP classes. Then taking Nursing Class 1, Class 2 is withheld b/c you are an LPN; pay to enroll in the college and work on Nursing Class 3-7 at your own pace. You can do it. Take breaks to "smell the roses and treat yourself" then you'll feel better when you return to your studying. You will do fine; I think the same of myself and I'm 48.

  9. Calliotter3, Just wanted to let you know that I did purchase that Micro book on ebay and they accepted my bid. Thanks so much for your helpful information. Deb
  10. Good Job and well done!
  11. What a nice feeling, Good Job!!! I don't like math either.
  12. I live in MN and worked at a hospital clinic as a Cert. Medical Ass't. When I got my LPN, they did not take anymore LPN's so I found a homecare position with pediatrics and I love it. A lot of the LPN's in the hospital took on a HUC job so they didn't lose their pension and 401K. I did not want to do that, I enjoy patient care. I believe the hospitals are replacing LPNS with PCA's who are LPN's and RN's in their clinicals, at least my hospital is doing that.
  13. Florida, I love Fort Walton Beach Florida, I visit my mom in Destin every Feb. Good Luck!

  15. Callotter3, Thanks so very much for the info. I will look for the micro. However, I have tried to get onto Yahoo groups and it doesn't appear to let me and says that I have to be a student of EC. I will check again and see if I can get on. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. Deb
  16. Lunah, Thanks for the input, I will contact EC and find out which gens they accept for CLEP, I have only a few.
  17. RNWanna, It's okay, just dust yourself off, forgive yourself and you'll feel better. You will do just fine, tomorrow is a new day, read new material and read what EC is requesting you to review and study. We're here to help!
  18. Smir or anyone? Has anyone looked into the CLEP classes for generals? It's either pass or fail. I'm short a few generals, costs only $70 to take the test and you study with their study guide. I'm looking into both CLEP and EC and then going to the nursing courses. Thanks for your input if anyone has any advice. Deb
  19. Good for you, you've worked hard, must be a great feeling!
  20. Hello nurse mo1986, What books did you use for sociology besides LA notes? did you use what EC recommended? I applied and awaiting for response from EC very soon! Debsikins
  21. Brookah, Wow! I'm proud of you with your diligence and hard work! Must be nice to be near the end. Did you work while studying? How long did it take you to do the nursing courses? I work 40+ hours/week; I'll have to fine time to cut my hours. I'm short a few generals and thinking of doing Clep and then start the nursing courses. Applied and waiting for EC response. Let me know the date of your CPNE, you will do fine you're already a pro! Deb
  22. Akanini, I have seen that quite a few people are using the Chancelor study guide. Where do you obtain the chancelor study guide from? Or, if anyone else knows, I would appreciate a response. I am reading everyone's notes and taking in a lot of information which will help me decide to pursue Excelsior. Thanks!!!
  23. I am looking into EC and am an LPN. Where do you find and purchase the Chancellor's guide? Thanks for your method of studying sounds good, I did the similar technique studying for my LPN Boards.
  24. I am looking at getting started with Excelsior also, I have read past Allnurses that you can go to Ebay and type in "Excelsior College" and the section under "books" and look for LisaArends notes on a CD (Nurse with a syringe). Everyone passes with these notes they're about $10 a CD with a lot of information to help pass the test. Good luck!
  25. BigKenny mentioned that Lisa Arend's CD's are great for notes and a learning tool. I looked on EBAY and can't locate them. Can anyone help? DEBSIKINS
