We did this to ourselves. Exploitation has sprung from our own desperation. Many nurses already lost dignity because they let this thing happen to them. What happened to 4 years of hard work, sacrifices and suffering during college life? How about the sleepless night we endure for the board exam? The funny thing is, we're already aware of this picture, but many still involve themselves to this kind of activity. C'mon, get a life! We didn't obtained our license just to be slaves. I know many of us are desperate to find a job, but this doesn't mean that we should do desperate measures like this. If we stop this garbage system, ee can hope for a better future for all of us here in the Philippines.

Anybody knows a cheap place to take the bridging program? My uncle will be financing my studies and I don't want him too spend to much for me. I don't have any relatives there so any suggestions would help. I will be finishing my 2nd yr. of paid work this august, then I'll be preparing my requirements for ahpra. Hopefully, next year I could start with the program. Thanks..

Hi guys, I lost track of this thread for about a year so here's a couple of questions just to refresh my memory. Right now I intend to migrate to Oz (again!) with my family, I'm practicing right now here in the Philippines for almost 2 yrs. I need to look for a better paying job so I have to leave nursing. My question is, does ANMC or any state (regulatory commission) require a specific yr of experience before they allow any IEN to take the BP? For those who took the BP recently, how much is your average spending every week?/month? Thanks and God bless to everyone.

Updates.. The hospital has undergone its' inspection for the permit and the chief nurse told us that the permit would probably be issued on Feb. 8. Dry run of operation will be on Feb. 10 and the blessing for the hospital will be the day after that. As I said, trainees will be deployed on Feb. 10 (if everything goes smoothly). Additional staff will be needed for Mt Carmel after the deployment. There are 2 things needed for future applicants to get hired: 1. You could put Jesus or any other powerful being as your reference or 2. You did very well in college giving you a certification of being a geek.

AFAIK, they freeze hire for the meantime.. Trainees will be deployed on the 3rd week of Feb, hopefully. OPD will open first then other departments will follow. Unless they will require additional staff, they will resume hiring. This will all depend on the hospital's census. Anyway if you really want to apply just drop by at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Medical Center (sister company) here at San Fernando, Pampanga. They are in need of additional staff nurses here. They just deployed around 20 new nurses last week and I think they will be in need for 10 more. Some of them will be transferred to Lourdes - just tell the HR that you are applying for Lourdes. Goodluck on your job hunting.

I don't really know how long the training would be but the first batch came in 2nd week of July. Haven't ask them about the examination but as far as I know, there will only be interviews. And yes, they do have their own nursing school but only 6 students passed the NLE. Anyway, I think there will be another batch of trainees after this. There will be a dorm for nurses, but as of now, they don't have it yet.

Updates regarding Our Lady of Lourdes International Medical Center Training for new nurses have started. Hiring is still ongoing but they prioritizes their graduates. I'm thinking of moving there if they also have dorms for nurses - just like their hospital here in Pampanga. Dorm is 300/month. I'll have to confirm this first. Our medical director told us that the hospital will begin operation, tentatively, on October - last week or early November. If anyone here who'll undergo the training, just post here or drop by the ICU. We could have our mini EB and don't forget to bring something for me.. Ü

Well, for me I would only take this exams if I am prepared and sanely serious about going abroad, more specifically, USA.. Ielts has a 2 yr expiration period so it will be invalid after the time frame.. With your situation and if given that you have an agency that would help you, with absolute certainty, find a job in the US, I will take NCLEX.

I think they will begin operation next month.. They already pulled out some of our nurses and orderlies to work there. But I'm not really sure when they will start. Anyway you should try to inquire there or here if you want to. Regarding the other hospital in Angeles, I don't have any idea about it. I think they are already close for any nurses. Anyway, you will pass by the hospital if you'll be coming from San Fernando. You won't miss it. San Fernando and Angeles only have 1 main road. It's so unlikely for you to get lost. Gudluck.. HTH

My co-worker is taking her masters at PWU - Philippine Women's University. Fees are reasonable, around 10k - 13k per semester. In addition, you also have to take your major exams personally at their classrooms. So that would be a problem for you, being based in UK, unless you're willing to spend. I'm also looking for an online based graduate program but it seems UP and PWU were the only one offering this.

It's still better to try. I currently have a job right now and no future plans of applying to other hospitals. Experience is my priority right now. Anyway gudluck to you. It's really difficult to land a job nowadays.

I think the one in Angeles is currently hiring. The hospital's name is Sacred Heart Medical Center, i think. You should have exceptional credentials to get hired, or the other route, you should know someone, powerful enough - you know what i mean. The other hospital in Olongapo is our sister hospital. Gossips roaming says that it will operate this October but I don't know if thats true. I haven't see the current status of the hospital yet. There is a hospital here in Angeles, Pampanga that will be opening this year (I think June). It's a teriary hospital. Try to consider it. Some of my fellow nurses here came all the way from Olangapo and Baguio. There is also a hospital I know that is currently being constructed in Olangapo. It's also a tertiary hospital but I don't have any idea when will it be operating.

I couldn't disagree more, a school's passing rate doesn't concern or relate to its students. One good example is the recent board exam. Kindly check how the topnotcher's school performed and see for yourself. To TS: Let's hope for the better..

Hehehe.. Don't you think it's time for you to carry yourself and be independent?I don't think you'll be accompanied by your maid when you get out of the country.. IMHO, I'll stay with my current hospital because in government hospitals, "in reality", practice is very different - You know what I'm talking about. With that to consider, I don't think you could call that skill enhancement. On the other hand, cases are extremes and you will be managing them and that gives you edge. You'll be seeing and assisting in different procedures (at least you'll be getting idea of the procedure). Just follow your heart if you can't decide. :heartbeat HTH!

NLE has a 25% certainty of competency (4 choices - 1 correct answer) Passing it on some luck could be a possibility, but I doubt if one could guess all the correct answers that requires him|her to pass. I think one needs 60% of what the top notcher had. Upper 40% of those who sat for the exam usually made it. Just my 2 cents. Unlike NLE, Nclex is an adaptive test and has a 95% certainty of competency before one pass it (most of the time). If one could pass NLE on pure luck I doubt if he|she could pass Nclex. To threadstarter: Don't get me wrong, but if she failed NLE for the 4th time, I think she should consider going back to school or changing her career path. We must admit that nursing is not for everybody, just like other profession.

Basic trainings that most hospitals in Manila requires (as what I noticed): 1. IV training 2. BLS training However, as what the saying says, "The more the merrier".

I've been in the ward for 3 weeks then for some unknown reason they transfered me to the ICU. This november 08? If yes, then there's no license your you to renew.. The test is just the first step for you to have the license. The second is oath taking (although some bypasses this) then the next one is for you to register in the roster list of nurses. Congrats!
