Have you heard of Private Duty Nurses in St. Luke's Global City?
Yup...you could say that.... its all worth it... and then some! We are doing just about the same kinda job we used to do in the ICU and get PAID for dioin so. Unlike when we were staff nurses... we get "allowances" if u know what I mean. Plus we get to meet "BIG" people... from Politicians, celebrties, as well as Notorious personalities... Get to travel at times with them....Australia, Guam, Singapore, etc... all expenses paid. The sick needs their nurse with them right? We are at the fore front of Private Duty Nursing. ALL Professionals. No caregivers or undergrads... Just pure critical nursing.... If u are that... I suggest u apply...if not.... gain experience... then apply again. Good luck!

Rate is P2000-2,500 per shift depending on the care needed. Our org is basically "in-Patient" services only. Meaning we dont go outside of the hospital to take care of patients. We've got a steady flow of patients inside the hospital that we seldom need to go out. If we do go out and extend our services at home...it's because they are VIPs, politician, famous and rich people who pays us even more. Sometimes travel abroad with them.

ICU RN to PDN: Is there Glory in Private Duty Nursing?
I understand where your coming from. You came from a batch of unprecedented volume when the demand for nurses abroad slowed down. You must really want to go into Staff nursing first before going private duty, but cant. The risk your taking is enormous. Your work may be laid back now...but what if infection sets in....pulmonary aspiration? Congestion? You must be able to see tell tale signs before it could all be critical. Pls be very careful. Do ur research. Listen to his lung sounds and heart beat on a daily basis. So u'll know something's wrong even if we don't know what crackels sounds like. Or irregular rythm. At least something's a little odd and you could ask one of his doctors. Just a suggestion my brotha. God bless!

ICU RN to PDN: Is there Glory in Private Duty Nursing?
I was an excellent ICU nurse in a very reputable hospital here in the Philippines. Like most of us here...we are highly affected by the long standing retrogression in the US. My priority date is March 2006. Needless to say I've been waiting for more than 5 yrs now if you include the reviews and the exam. I dont want to start applying again to different countries simply because of all the time and effort we placed in our US migration dream.... But I cant stay here in the Philippines as a Nurse and take care of my family earning 10K a month. Minus the tax and medicare...about 4K every 15days, if you have overtime. My wife has been the breadwinner for quite some time now and we all know how that feels for us guys, ryt? Enter PDN (private duty nursing). I HAVE TO GIVE UP MY POST AS A SENIOR ICU STAFF IN EXCHANGE FOR PRIVATE NURSING DUTY TO RICH SICK INDIVIDUALS. Don't get me wrong. The work is basically the same. Easier even! 12 hr duty for one patient doing what i regularly do in the ICU ( manage the ventilator, Suction ET/Trache, Turning, Morning care) (sometimes as easy as hourly monitoring) and none of those crazy paperworks and nagging boss or endorsement procedures. To top it all...I earn 4x more than what I do before. 40-50K easy in a month direct to your hands! 60K if you dont take offs too often! WOW right? Down part is...I'm not a hospital nurse anymore. I'm employed under my patient who pays my salary on a daily basis. Which means my hospital will not give a COE for my work as a PDN, wc could also mean our US dream. Is there GLORY as a PDN? Is it easy buck just to earn a living? Or am I just a family man making the best of what he can do for his family? A lot of NURSES has been trying to get in where I'm at ryt now...but why do i sometimes clamor for what they have? My company is hiring PDN right now and I sometimes think if they know how we feel about entering this field.... Can you share you insights? PDNs out there...Do you feel the same? Hospital staff nurses..do you envy us...or pity us?

Hiring of PDNs will soon end at St Luke's Global City. They are finalizing the list of applicants na for re-training. For those interested to still practice their Nursing career here in the Philippines and still earn as much as 40-50K/month easily...I highly advice you give this a chance and yoiu wont regret it.

@tweety I CANT pm YOU YET! So it means I cant give you their contact nos. I tell you what, being an ICU nurse is a plus. But your drawback is that you didnt come from SLMC but from the province. Still, try it. Get their contact nos when you call trunkline of St. Lukes, connect to NSO, then ask them who to talk to when applying for a PDN position. They'll be sure to giv u the nos. to call coz they dont have an opening for staff position. Good luck!
