Have you heard of Private Duty Nurses in St. Luke's Global City?
Yup...you could say that.... its all worth it... and then some! We are doing just about the same kinda job we used to do in the ICU and get PAID for dioin so. Unlike when we were staff nurses... we get "allowances" if u know what I mean. Plus we get to meet "BIG" people... from Politicians, celebrties, as well as Notorious personalities... Get to travel at times with them....Australia, Guam, Singapore, etc... all expenses paid. The sick needs their nurse with them right? We are at the fore front of Private Duty Nursing. ALL Professionals. No caregivers or undergrads... Just pure critical nursing.... If u are that... I suggest u apply...if not.... gain experience... then apply again. Good luck!

Rate is P2000-2,500 per shift depending on the care needed. Our org is basically "in-Patient" services only. Meaning we dont go outside of the hospital to take care of patients. We've got a steady flow of patients inside the hospital that we seldom need to go out. If we do go out and extend our services at home...it's because they are VIPs, politician, famous and rich people who pays us even more. Sometimes travel abroad with them.

ICU RN to PDN: Is there Glory in Private Duty Nursing?
I understand where your coming from. You came from a batch of unprecedented volume when the demand for nurses abroad slowed down. You must really want to go into Staff nursing first before going private duty, but cant. The risk your taking is enormous. Your work may be laid back now...but what if infection sets in....pulmonary aspiration? Congestion? You must be able to see tell tale signs before it could all be critical. Pls be very careful. Do ur research. Listen to his lung sounds and heart beat on a daily basis. So u'll know something's wrong even if we don't know what crackels sounds like. Or irregular rythm. At least something's a little odd and you could ask one of his doctors. Just a suggestion my brotha. God bless!

ICU RN to PDN: Is there Glory in Private Duty Nursing?
I was an excellent ICU nurse in a very reputable hospital here in the Philippines. Like most of us here...we are highly affected by the long standing retrogression in the US. My priority date is March 2006. Needless to say I've been waiting for more than 5 yrs now if you include the reviews and the exam. I dont want to start applying again to different countries simply because of all the time and effort we placed in our US migration dream.... But I cant stay here in the Philippines as a Nurse and take care of my family earning 10K a month. Minus the tax and medicare...about 4K every 15days, if you have overtime. My wife has been the breadwinner for quite some time now and we all know how that feels for us guys, ryt? Enter PDN (private duty nursing). I HAVE TO GIVE UP MY POST AS A SENIOR ICU STAFF IN EXCHANGE FOR PRIVATE NURSING DUTY TO RICH SICK INDIVIDUALS. Don't get me wrong. The work is basically the same. Easier even! 12 hr duty for one patient doing what i regularly do in the ICU ( manage the ventilator, Suction ET/Trache, Turning, Morning care) (sometimes as easy as hourly monitoring) and none of those crazy paperworks and nagging boss or endorsement procedures. To top it all...I earn 4x more than what I do before. 40-50K easy in a month direct to your hands! 60K if you dont take offs too often! WOW right? Down part is...I'm not a hospital nurse anymore. I'm employed under my patient who pays my salary on a daily basis. Which means my hospital will not give a COE for my work as a PDN, wc could also mean our US dream. Is there GLORY as a PDN? Is it easy buck just to earn a living? Or am I just a family man making the best of what he can do for his family? A lot of NURSES has been trying to get in where I'm at ryt now...but why do i sometimes clamor for what they have? My company is hiring PDN right now and I sometimes think if they know how we feel about entering this field.... Can you share you insights? PDNs out there...Do you feel the same? Hospital staff nurses..do you envy us...or pity us?

Hiring of PDNs will soon end at St Luke's Global City. They are finalizing the list of applicants na for re-training. For those interested to still practice their Nursing career here in the Philippines and still earn as much as 40-50K/month easily...I highly advice you give this a chance and yoiu wont regret it.

@tweety I CANT pm YOU YET! So it means I cant give you their contact nos. I tell you what, being an ICU nurse is a plus. But your drawback is that you didnt come from SLMC but from the province. Still, try it. Get their contact nos when you call trunkline of St. Lukes, connect to NSO, then ask them who to talk to when applying for a PDN position. They'll be sure to giv u the nos. to call coz they dont have an opening for staff position. Good luck!

Sorry sugar plum....this is kinda one place you can't learn on the job. You gotta have experience when you get into sumthin like this coz your gonna be alone. You'll call the shots and your patients will highly depend on you. Monitoring Q30min for critical patients is normal. There is nobody to turn to for help...either you know what to do or u dont...sorry..

the best way to know the PDN contact number for SLMC is to call their NSO and ask for the number of their President. They'll be glad to help unemployed nurses.

@ Khaye you could reach their coordinator at Landline *******. You wont regret it... Im doing practically the same chores as when I was in the ICU...and getting paid THIS TIME AROUND! hehe... hope you get thru! See ya. @ Sugar plum.....I dont know how you can be hired. Even if u get hired, i don't think ull be confident enuf to handle patients by urself. You wont get training on the job per se, coz 1 isto 1 ratio and you need to perform with no possibility of asking someone how to do stuff. Staff nurses wouldn't give u the time of day coz they know ur being paid A LOT to know already how to read CVP, GCS, etc... I suggest u have experience 1st then apply again.

I have not resigned too. I tried it out to get a feel of it. I liked it. Its the same stuff I get to do at ICU....only this time I get PAID..hehe. They made it pretty clear that it wasnt a part time job for the ff reasons: 1. Its a 12hr shift...what else could be done after your shift other than sleep? 2. It pays a lot more than ur current job...so which should be ur part time job? 3. You are on call...whenever you on deck and a patient requires ur expertise they call you. And big bucks daily ..yippeee!! I see why they would want an experienced reliable nurse. Rich and powerful people are their market....you really have to know ur trade. The plus side is you get to meet these people. Sometimes take you in. Travel and stuff. Money is no object compared to the love and care you provide their love ones. 1yr 1/2 is ok. I guess...Wc hospital? What unit?

Well are you experienced RN? What field? How many years? Thats what they asked me when I came to inquire. They're really experts caring for specified patients....the rich, the powrfull and the famous. Just let me know if you fit the profile and PM me...ill give you their email or sumthin.
-
Have you heard of Private Duty Nurses in St. Luke's Global City?
Sorry, toxic sa duty eh...Thanks for the querries Doza. Are you a nurse too? What hospital? You're right. They only hire experienced nurses...more than a year to be exact. (got to be... im aplying eh and not old) hehe.. But wrong about one thing...you can apply even if ur not from St Luke's. Yes, they would prefer past St lukes employees but not exclude everybody else. You need to come from a good tertiary hospital ata and a good unit (ie Critical care) I have talked with their President and Im really interested.... I mean earning as much as 2k -2.5k a shift! That's unimagineable! Didnt kno I could earn this much without leaving the country. That's why they are stiff in accepting applicants...VIP patients all the time. They're mass hiring daw for a fresh pool of PDNs...let me kno if ur interested...ill give the number thru PM. God bless>

RN becoming a caregiver
I salute ur desire to practice ur profession. It shames me to hear that BSN-RN has to choose between a volunteer Nurse or an earning caregiver. I thought I had it bad already....choosing to be a PDN. Kudos to your decision!!
