  1. Yes, lucky for them. But don't loose hope. If you got high marks on that exam (not just a passing and ho-hum grade of course, but way higher than the average score), they will accept you. Even better if you got it perfect and with less than 10 mistakes. The top scorers of their exam are sure to be in the next batch -with or without endorsement. They will be wanting a brilliant gem than an "endorsed" lackluster. Trust me on this.
  2. Not true. They give chances to those who got high grades in their exam (90% above, if I'm not mistaken). Same goes with RN-Residents applying for the staff position. They want quality nurses too, you know. They don't. But I might be mistaken and they've changed their rules. Try to call the training office for confirmation.
  3. Thank you for the information. I'll go to PNA/UST as soon as I have free time from work because Manila is very far from my place. Where, by the way, should we look for her in UST? Does she have her own office there?
  4. I agree that we are also to blame for this. I am one of those who availed of a paid training in hopes that I will be hired afterwards. It's nothing but a money-making scam...getting the hopes up of their trainees, even saying that if they worked hard and got good evaluations they will be considered for employment then dismissing them as soon as the next batch of trainees are ready to replace them. Imagine, not only getting free labor but earning as well. In all fairness, I learned something about patient care and being a staff nurse. I'm grateful for the experience. What I resent is that we have to pay for that experience... The receipts for the training is still with me. If our lawmakers or any organization need evidence, I'm willing to hand over those receipts. I humbly request that all of you who underwent paid trainings do the same. Hold on to those slips of paper, they might help us.
  5. Yes, this is a resolution - a calling for an investigation into this matter. I am not an expert in legal matters but all our laws who are in effect went through the similar process so I have no cause to be not hopeful. It may take a long time for this to be resolved...that's why we nurses have to unite and stand up so that our voices will be heard. We need to put an end to this abuse.
  6. Philippine Senate (P.S.) Resolution No. 166 Introduced by Senator Pia S. Cayetano A RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE APPROPRIATE SENATE COMMITTEE/S TO INVESTIGATE, IN AID OF LEGISLATION, THE ALLEGED EXPLOITATIVE PRACTICE OF SOME HOSPITALS THAT EMPLOY REGISTERED NURSES AND NURSING GRADUATES AS "ON-THE-JOB TRAINEES" (OJTs) INSTEAD OF HIRING THEM AS REGULAR EMPLOYEES AND WITHOUT GIVING PROPER COMPENSATION, AND THE ALLEGATION THAT THESE HOSPITALS CHARGE THE NURSES ADDITIONAL FEES FOR TRAINING, WORK EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION. Here's the link to the full document. I'm so glad that some actions are now being made to put an end to our exploitation.
  7. There are some hospitals that hire male nurses. Like I said before, I have male friends who are working as nurses there. One of them just left last April. Maybe in SRO they don't accept male applications but in other agencies they do
  8. Oh, that's just sad. I feel bad for those who got duped and shelled hundreds of the thousands of pesos for this lot of thieves (if they are indeed proven guilty)
  9. Well, you told them you're willing to cancel your trip if it'll muck up everything, right? I think you're still good.
  10. I'm so happy for you because you made it despite the financial struggles you've been through. Congratulations! :)
  11. Lol. How true. I also went to their orientation and I find it too good to be true. A load of **. Thanks but no thanks! I'd rather do hard work without spending huge amount of money from my parents' pockets. The money one spends as a volunteer is far less than what one would've spent here.
  12. What's so wrong with being a guy? I have two male classmates who are working in Riyadh right now...and their salaries don't come cheap! :) After I've earned the required experience I'll try my luck there.
  13. I'm assuming you haven't considered Middle East countries such as Dubai, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. The latter, I heard, just requires 1 year experience. If you just ignore those stereotyping rumors and prejudices about those countries, especially Saudi, then you'll do good. Try to apply directly at POEA.
  14. Now they're using Holiday Inn! LOL. They're so pathetic.... Here's the email they've sent. Basically, it's just the same: Sending money to them BEFORE the actual "interview coaching" (whatever that is). Fellow nurses, please don't fall for these scams... You have to see the actual faces and names of your potential employers or their agents and their offices as well before paying anything. (actually it's much better if there are no fees to be collected) Anyway, what they're offering is too good to be true... ------------------------------- REMINDER: Please READ & UNDERSTAND this email message, it is advisable for you to PRINT it.
