Need prayers please
Hi guys, My 17 year old son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia on 1/18. The prognosis is very good, but the induction phase of chemo is pure hell! He's already lost 20 pounds and was diagnosed today with C Diff. If he loses any more weight, may need to consider a feeding tube. We are very hopeful for a quick remission, so any kind thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

DNP vs MD
- Am I stupid for giving this up?
I agree with the posters who urged the clinic job. I only worked in the hospital as a LPN, but quickly found it was not for me. My whole RN career so far has been in clinic, and I can't imagine ever going back to hospital work. Love the clinics! It's stressful some days, but it's a whole different kind of stress. And believe me, there is plenty of work to do at my clinic, very little time for chit chat. Also sounds like it was be easier not woking nights/holidays/weekends with the kids.- Nurses do you love or hate your job?
I have a love/hate relationship with my job: Love working with my docs..they are the best Love developing a bond with the patients who are nice and treat us with respect Love hearing "you are my favorite nurse" from my patients Hate dealing with the patients who are just mean and nasty no matter how much you do to try to help them Hate hate hate dealing with insurance companies- Still Angry at MAs playing nurse or PA
I believe you said the Dr already told your wife she could stop the med at any time? So why does it matter if she decreases to 5mg before stopping? I'm not seeing the big deal here. If the wife is not upset, I wouldn't worry about it.- just yapping
Mine was on the 8th. I wish I turned 25 instead of 35 :) Happy Birthday!- "Nurse" wins powerball
When I was a LPN I called myself a nurse. Now as a RN I call myself a nurse. If I won Powerball I'd call myself a RETIRED nurse:clown: and never work again!- Highest INR....
We had a pt at my clinic a few weeks ago at 17.9. She came in complaining of pain in the side of her tongue, she was bleeding into the tissue. We only gave her PO Vitamin K and the next morning her INR was back in normal range.- I finally did something right!!!! Or other nursing success stories
:yelclap::yelclap::yelclap:Good Job!!- Is It Possible An LPN Can Make More Then An RN?
Touche'......Well stated.- Is It Possible An LPN Can Make More Then An RN?
OP, I honestly don't blame you. You could say it's none of your business and move on, but that's hard to do. I was a LPN for a long time too, and I didn't go through all the extra schooling to make less money than other nurses with the same amount of experience. Kajunnurse, you stated that it takes everyone on down to the cook to take care of the patient. Does that mean the cook in the cafeteria should also make as much as a nurse? Just checking.- I need 50 ways to get out of my med surg job.
Hope you figure out what's best for you...good luck!!- I need 50 ways to get out of my med surg job.
"Maybe she is using the internet on her break." You're right, I didn't consider that. She said it's a very boring job, so I just assumed she was on the computer during work.- I need 50 ways to get out of my med surg job.
This is jus my 2 cents, but I would never (ever) just send an Email to quit my job. It seems very unprofessional to me. If you can't give 2 weeks, you should always go in and talk to your manager and be honest. Maybe then they would consider a rehire in the future. I also don't really agree with being on the Internet while I'm at work. Not trying to be rude, just my humble opinion.- Tired of being FAT and having low self esteem
I felt just like you about 2 years ago. All I ever ate was fast food. Was up to 225 pounds and couldn't breathe just walking up the stairs. It's a miserable feeling. The first thing I did was go through my bank statement and look at how much money I was spending every month- the amount was astronomical! I decided that I would no longer eat out, then I would instead spend that money on new clothes once I felt better. I increased my water intake, changed from drinking regular soda to only diet, and really increased my fiber intake. Changed all my white breads and pastas to whole grain. And once I lost a little, started walking on the treadmill. It took awhile to lose the weight, but today I'm down to 165. You can do it... I believe in you!!!- Where is the caring and advocacy for ME when I really need it????
I'm so sorry u were treated that way. Sometimes it does feel like all we do is bend over backwards to help others- I'm sorry there was no one there to help you in yout time of need, not very compassionate of them.- Office nurses ARE real nurses!!
DogWmn, it's so funny that you mention seeing the patients outside the clinic. While I don't get calls at home, I do see my patients eveywhere! One night I had a woman take off her shoes and socks and show me a rash on her feet while I was waiting in line at my sons parent-teacher conference. And I usually can't go to Walmart without getting a few questions!- I was questioning whether I wanted to be a nurse from the threads on allnurses.com
Allnurses is where we come to vent. That's why a lot of the postings you read can be so negative. I think for the most part nursing is a very satisfying job, but like all jobs, can be very difficult and frustrating at times. Most people are still going to try to act very professional at work even the days that totally suck. That's why it's so important to be able to come here and vent later. You should base your decision to become a nurse on what you want to do. Don't base it on a bunch of negative comments on a website.- Medical Billing and Coding and RN
I think it's absolutely great knowledge to have if you're working in a doctors office. When I call Insurance companies to do prior authorization for a CT or MRI, you have to have the proper ICD-9 and CPT codes or they won't even start the auth. I have worked at many offices, and coding has always played a part in my job as an RN or LPN.- Why why why don't people understand...
It doesn't help that on the news they keep saying "contact your doctor right away if you have flu like symptoms so you can start antibiotics immediately". I sit here and yell at the TV each time I hear that!- Hey!! I did it! I am an RN!! WooHoo!!
Good Job!!!:yeah: - Am I stupid for giving this up?
