  1. I would definitely recommend going in person. I sent my resume and applications to various places via the internet and I would never hear anything back, EVER. One LTC facility that I worked at in the past, hired me on the spot when I went in to fill out the app. Go check out some facilities in person and you will find something, for sure!! Good Luck!!
  2. *Try not to stress or over-think. *Get a good night's sleep. *Get to the testing site a little bit early. *Make sure you have all the paperwork you need to bring. Good Luck!
  3. I know you said you didn't want LTC, but maybe you should give it a shot. Most LTC welcome new grads and pay better than other facilities.
  4. $24.69/hr at my LTC facility in NY.
  5. I actually just went for a job interview last week. They gave me a 50 question test with about 5 calculations on it. The test was multiple choice, it was extremely easy. The calculations were very basic, no reconstitution probs or anything like that. Good luck!
  6. i'm sorry to hear that you failed, but whatever you do, do not become discouraged! i highly recommend exam cram, i found that their practice questions were most like the nclex. good luck!!!
  7. I had lots of pharm and 3 math problems.
  8. i passed!!!! :clpty::dncgbby::dancgrp:
  9. hi everyone, I took the nclex yesterday and the computer shut off at 85. I'm hoping based on the previous posters that this is a good thing. I had a lot of SATA, about 15 (i lost count), 3 math problems, lots of prioritizing, and a bunch of pharm. I hope I passed!!
  10. When I took the NET there was only math and reading comprehension. I would recommend buying a some sort of review of basic math book. The reading portion of the test was much harder IMO. We only had 30 minutes to complete it. The one good thing is that there is no nursing stuff on the NET. HTH Good luck!! :wink2:
  11. Hi everyone! I'm taking the NCLEX-PN on may 22nd. I'm a first time test taker and I'm very nervous Good luck to all!
  12. Wow. Everything that you described sounds just like the LPN program that I was enrolled in, except that the average age was about 35 lol. I mean these women were extremely catty, always whispering and starting drama. Ugh, I hated it! We also had some rules, such as no cell phones in class, but they only enforced when they felt like it. Maybe you can alert administration as to the unfair treatment. As for you, Keep your head up and don't let anyone bring you down. Just 'keep your eyes on the prize' so to speak. Envision yourself graduating from your program and walking outta there with your head held high. Good luck! :)
  13. hi scrape! i took the net in order to gain acceptance into my lpn program. there is no 'nursing stuff' on the test at all. it is just basic math (decimals, fractions, mult, div, etc) and reading comprehension. i must say the reading portion was much more difficult than the math only because they allowed us 30 minutes to complete it, which was not nearly enough time to finish. whatever you do: don't leave anything blank!! good luck!!
  14. Hi! I've heard about ISU, but I don't think that it is accepted in my state (NY). I know that excelsior is accepted by the BON, are there any other distance learning programs that you know of?
  15. Hi all! I'm sorry if this is posted somewhere already, but I was wondering if Excelsior has an LPN-BSN program. I just recently graduated from an LPN program and I want to start on the LPN-BSN bridge a.s.a.p. Any info would be greatly appreciated!! TIA
  16. I just recently graduated from my pn program. During the first year of the program which wass 6pm-10pm m-th I worked about 30 hours a week. Then for the second half of the program, which was 8-2:30 m-f, I only worked 12 hours a week!! In the beginning I tried to work more hours, but I just couldn't do it. School was just WAY too much work. I definitley started to fall behind so I had to cut down on my hours.
  17. Hi MomInTraining! I did not attend the school that you are applying to, but I was wondering if you were taking the NET exam. That was the pre-entrance exam that we had to take to get into my PN program. For the NET exam there was no 'nursing stuff' on it whatsoever. It was basic math (fractions, decimals, etc.) and reading comprehension. It also tests you on your stress levels and things that deal with your personality, such as, 'You study better in groups: Agree or disagree.' If I were you I would contact your school and find out what test they are administering (If you don't know already). I hope this helps, you'll do great!! Good luck!! :nuke:
  18. Oh wow. That makes me really nervous :uhoh21:. I hope you passed!! Good luck!! Keep us posted!
  19. They asked very simple and basic questions, such as, what characteristics do you possess that would aid you in your nursing career and why do you want to become a nurse. They also want to make sure that you will be able to commute to the various clinical sites so they'll probably ask you something about that. Good luck!! You'll do wonderful!
  20. Hello, I just graduated from a BOCES LPN program and most people used a backpack while a few used one of those rolling ones (These are a little annoying, people were always tripping on them in the hallways.)
