  1. I can tell you first hand that CC has not gotten rid of any LPN's are are actively hiring LPN's even on specialty floors. I am a new grad LPN without any medical experience and I was just offered a position on Friday. I attended their Nursing Job Fair. There were several positions open. A classmate of mine was also hired there. I am going right to the RN program, as they offer many benefits...you can even obtain clinical hours while working.....and they pick up a lot of the cost if you agree to work for them for a few years.
  2. So do you look for openings on-line and then go apply in person, or just make a list of all the places you want to go, and start going there? I like the idea of collecting a bunch of applications, and then go back the next day to drop them all off....I need to change my way of applying....applying online has gotten me NO where quick. Tomorrow I will pound the pavement.....
  3. I just posted something similar to this on the LPN/LVN board. I have only received 3 phone calls and I have sent out over 50 resumes. I have a pending offer with one facility and the other is still actively considering me but has not finished their interviews yet, it has been two weeks, but it is a MAJOR hospital in this area. I am in the NE OHio region, up near CLevealnd. It really STINKS...I am getting so discouraged. I graduated in December.....and NOTHING yet.
  4. Hey there...I feel your pain. I just graduated in December and we had to do Arnette....let me tell you DO NOT let your Arnette scores take over your mind set......I did just that and my last 10 weeks of school were HELL. I passed by Arnette standards, but not by my schools standards. I am a 3.8 GPA gradaute...had almost all A's my entire time. My school had the same standards....you will not graduate....which is simply NOT accurate...they just will not sponser you to sit for your NCLEX. BUT my school made us remediate....with 3000 questions, and then you had to take the Exit Hesi. Arnette is a lot harder than the NCLEX and the HESI. According to Arnette I only had a 25% chance of passing!!!!! YOU WILL DO FINE, Not only did I get a 1100 on the HESI (which predicted 95% chance of passing NCLEX, but I passed my NCLEX with 85 questions. DO NOT LET THOSE TESTS STRESS YOU OUT....it is not worth it.
  5. I passed my NCLEX on 2-11-09....since that time I have been sending at least 1-2 resumes online a day. I have only received 1 phone call. I am so baffled as to why I have not received more. My resume is good, had it checked by a professional....I graduated with a 3.8 GPA, and I am IV & Med Certified. I have only personally applied to 3 places. I am still being considered for the one job which is a MAJOR hospital in my area....and I have a pending offer with the other place....but I am not quite sure I want that job. BTW I am in Northeast Ohio. My questions are .... 1. How long did it take you to find a job? 2. What resouces did you use to find opportunities? 3. Did you apply only online or in person? Please feel free to ad any information you feel will be helpful. Thank yoU!
  6. My daugther has her first dance class Tuesday night, so after my massage, we are going to dinner, and then her class...so it will be a nice relaxing evening.
  7. Ok...thank you for the tips. I wll NOT look at anything before the exam. I will stop everything by 12:00 noon on Tuesday. I will eat some eggs, 1/2 whole wheat bagel, and 1/2 bananna and a cup of coffee....then take a piece of fruit to snack on if I need a break during the test and of course a bottled water..... Suzzanne, what drugs can you recommed that I look over this weekend.....other than BP meds, insulin's? Any other suggestions? x AND do you think doing 300 questions a day until Tuesday is too many?
  8. So does anyone have any suggestions of things to do the day before the NCLEX? Foods to eat, activities? I keep hearing to NOT study the day before.....do you recommend this? I am going to get a massage the day before for sure, but what else? Also what kind of breakfast do you suggest? I test at 11:00am. I planned on getting up at 8:00 have a cup of coffee at coffee shop near the testing site, look over some last minute material....and then go in......any thoughts, suggestions, tips would be greatly appreciated!!!! Thanks! Shannon
  9. We actually have been doing question cards by Saunders, and have gotten through almost all of them. I have the Saunders Book...and doing the CD. I thought I had a different book....but it is Saunders....We graduated on December 19th, so it is just a little bit over a month since graduation. One of our classmates found out today that she passed. She took it yesterday at 11:00am and it was posted on the OBN this morning about 11:05am. She only studied the Saunders book, and only very little. We had intense NCLEX prep classes, and had to do over 3000 questions to be eligible for graduation....The MEDS are my most worse fear.....lab values are ok....I think. I will go over those this weekend.....thanks for the help!
  10. Actually, nothing much. We all had a Rayfield Review together....when we will still in class....we just finished December 19th....I kinda took the holidays off....and did nothing (shame on me) Took my exit HESI on Decemeber 22, and then just relaxed.....and about two weeks ago we started just doing questions.....asking each other questions, going over our Rayfield book.....etc. I am going to go get the Saunders book today, and try to get through the whole book of questions, and read the rationals for all the ones I get wrong.....any other suggestions?
  11. Hello everyone...I am new to this site. I came looking for support and help. My classmate and I have been getting together to study everyday for the last 2 weeks. We test on Wednesday and Thursday next week....we have Saunders, and Silvestri....we have been just doing questions, anything else anyone can recommed to get in this weekend? I am going for a massage on Tuesday...(I test on Wednesday). I am SO scared.....and Nervous, and I kinda just want it over with..... THanks in advance for any info you may offer. Shannon
