  1. It will be ok. You know what you know and leave it at that. Freaking out doesn't help at all and you know that. I took it without studying much. Took the practice test that was in ATI book and once on-line. Scored 84 on the actual test. Not great, but acceptable. Yes, I did have computer glitches and had to reset twice towards the end. Missed a whole page and lost interest. English is my second language so if I can pull it off, I'm sure you can too. Just try to stay focused. Good luck!
  2. Check with the schools in your areas and have them evaluate your transcript. Looks like you did well in the preq classes so it may not be as bad. Some schools here just took those classes to arrive at GPA to get in. Good luck!
  3. If you really want to do it, JUST get started by taking pre-reqs to see how you do. You got to do it for yourself.
  4. I would apply to all if you have all the pre-reqs met and make my decision after acceptance. I'm in the same boat as you are.
  5. I totally agree with the above post. Time and experience will lead the way for you. That's something you really have to do and feel to know what you enjoy doing as a career. You're still very young, use your time wisely Damon. Money isn't everything. It didn't come across in your message why you really want to be a doc or a nurse.
  6. My school doesn't require bio b/f A&P. Only chem. However, from someone who is taking A&P currently..YES...bio will help you out a great deal. A&P is a difficult class even with bio background. Good luck!
  7. Cool...Bo..take full advantage of it. Lucky you!
  8. Great if your instructor allows it. In my school, A&P classes are always full and difficult to get into. Instructors can't take more than what they have seating for. You can freshen up your bio and chem and start studying on your own for A&P if you got the time and motivation which sounds like you do. Good thinking ahead.
  9. Hi there, Here's what I would do... 1st go check out the near by Community college to see what you need to take. Perhaps TOFAL exam to get into taking college classes. This answer your 1st question. 2. Every school is different so you need to go to the Colleges that offers nursing program. 3. From what I know, GED is for those without a high school dipolma. 4. Yes, Community colleges are cheap and good way to get your pre-reqs done or even become an RN. 5. You need to ck with the financial counselor for this question. 6. Another option for you is to become a CNA while going to school to become an RN. CNA is just a semester course to get certified. Good luck!
  10. CracklinRose, Oh dear!!! You are doing AMAZING!!!! Hang in there. You know you're doing the right thing...she's so lucky to have you. You will look back one day and those grades are not going to be as important as the help you gave your cousin. You can always replace your grades, you can't replace the special times you shared when she needed you most. Looks like you have your priority stright. Don't sweat too much over the brain and cranial nerves stuff. Actually, I found that to be the easiest part so far. Those mnemonics are big help to me. You are a STAR!! Best of luck to you. May she dwell in peace.
  11. Help!! Does anyone know of a good link to learn how to pronounce these A&P words correctly? My instructor doesn't go over them but expect us to them. How can I learn if I don't know how to pronounce the word? TIA! :nuke:
  12. Hi, My final exam for A&P 1 is the HAPS exam. I'm wondering how that is like and how best to study for it. My instructor said it is super easy multiple choice questions. That's all I know. Can anyone help me find old exams to study from? TIA!
  13. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer the questions. They were very insideful. Appreciate your honesty.
  14. Thank you very very much!!!! I got them. Must be those pics making the files so large. They sure are helpful!!! YOU ROCK!!!
  15. Please help me decide.... Ok...I'm seriously thinking of dropping A&P1 and retake next semester. It's a lot for me to keep up w/o having any bio background. We're half way through the class and I have a "C". I'll be lucky to pull a B at best and final is cumulative. It sure takes a different study approach. Twenty hrs of study time per wk isn't enough. More importantly, I don't want to go into NUR with knowing only 1/2 of the A&P stuff. So far, my GPA is 4.0 for my pre-reqs and kind of want to keep it that way. What are your thoughts? Greatly appreciate your feedback.
  16. Thanks a million for replying and your encouragement!! Our first test was from Ch 1 to 4. We will start Ch 5 on Monday. Yes, I'm very interested in your notes to get a feel of how I need to go about learning this. My email address is [email protected]. Many many thanks!!! You just made my day by picking me up from the dump.
  17. I'm really bumbed. Failed my first lab test and lecture. More than anything, I freaked out and couldn't remember a lot of the terms. Using Marieb text book. Anyone out there using that book and could help me out with study tips? I can use a lot of help. My professor isn't very good at explaining. Really down right now. Thx.
  18. School started on the 18th of Aug. We have a quiz at the beginning of every class. Already had a paper due and a lab assignment due. First exam is scheduled for the 10th for both lecture and lab. This is a difficult class.
  19. Thank you Sail81. Are you a Jr or a Sr? What classes you found most difficult? Or are they just a lot of work? Are they as bad as A&P classes? What do you like about the program and what don't you like about the program? How are the instructors? Do you work? Is it possible to work at least P/T 20 hrs/wk? Was it difficult to get in? I'm currently taking prereqs at RVC and will be applying for Fall '09. Any tips you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.
  20. Hi, Wondering if anyone here is a student at St. Anthony College of Nursing located in Rockford, IL. If so, I wish to network. Thx.
  21. Decided to take only A&P 1 in the Fall. Yea, I work full time and want to really ace the class to increase my chance of getting into NS. Looking forward to it.
  22. Yes, I'm one of the group for BSN. Will take Dev Psych and Nutrition in June, then A&P 1 in the fall, A&P 2 in the spring, apply for NS (which has interviews and TEAS, takes 50 students/semester), Micro next summer. Hope to start NS in Fall '09. Best of luck to all of us.
  23. Did you mean to say Fall of 2008?
  24. I'm sure it's doable if you have it well organized. I work fulltime and taking pre-reqs also. My two summer classes will start this June and will last for 8 weeks. They are Nutrition (on-line) and Dev Psych which are fun courses. My plan is to start NS Fall of '09. Registered for A&P 1 for this fall and A&P 2 for Spring '09. Microbiology for summer '09 and that's the end of my pre-reqs. I'm doing it with a 3.5 yr old son and a husband who works long hrs 7 days/wk. Crazy..I know but I'll manage 'cause I want it bad enough. Plus, I have a desk job and my work is flexible as long as I get my work done.
  25. I'm in the similar situation as you are. Working full time days. Strongly recommend taking your transcript and discuss your study path with the colleges you're interested in applying. They will do eval and lay out the courses for you. I did this with 3 colleges and draw conclusion on what would best suited for all three. Currently taking Med Terminology at the hospital (not required but I thought it would be helpful and it's free for me). Registered for Dev Psych (pre-req is General Psych which I already have) and an on-line Nutrition course. Both are for 8 weeks. I'm planning on getting the text books early to start the readings. Fall '08, I'll take A&P 1; Spring '09, A&P 2; and Sum '09, Microbiology. These courses are important (thus, taking only one class at a time) in getting acceptance so I want to ace them. I already have college Chem which is a pre-req. Hope to apply to BSN in Jan '09 to start NS in Fall '09. Good luck to you!
