  1. Hi cumberland40! Congrats! I just have a question.. You said you will be graduating this May but you are selected already. Does that mean your application has already been viewed? I also will graduate this May, but NAvy Nusing corp recruiter told me to come back after graduation.. That's why I haven't been doing anything but waiting. Did your recruiter said it's okay to apply before graduating? Sorry to bother you these questions, and I really thank you in advance!
  2. Hi I'm from Philadelphia and the situation is same up here as well. Hospitals don't want NEW GRADS!! Then how are we new grads supposed to get experience and move forward?
  3. I'm almost finishing my BSN at Jefferson University and desperate for a job, I went to the on-campus job fair for TJU students early this March. I've talked to many hospital representatives -that I'm a RN with no experience graduating this May with BSN- and the replies were same. Hospitals are not particularly looking for a new grad, there are very narrow openings for new grads, or that I might want to look through the web site for updates on career opportunities, etc. I felt so bad. Even Jefferson nursing recruiter said that they are not hiring any new grads right now. I've heard the same thing last October when they held the on-campus job fair.
  4. Hi, I'm thinking of going to Navy as a nurse after graduating this May. It seems like it takes awhile to "get orders." Do you get paid while waiting? Or is it okay to work somewhere while you are waiting to get orders? I'm afraid that I might go broke before I can work as a Navy nurse. Someone with insight please help..?
  5. I'm in Jefferson's RN-BSN program right now and I'll be graduating this May of 2009. The job market is kinda bad nowadays and that worries me a lot but what can I do.. I'll just keep apply. Wish you the best luck with everything!
  6. Yes, I was able to schedule my interview after they received all the documents. They emailed me about it so you should check your email after turning in all the necessary documents. For me, I got 84 on my NET when I was attending previous college. Jefferson took that score so I didn't have to take another NET to get in. I don't know the minimum score for Jefferson. Sorry! Good luck with you.
  7. Hi Suzanne4, thank you for your insight. I was wondering if you actually can tell me where I can find the list of those 14 hospitals in US that does offer H1-c visa. Thank you in advance!
  8. Hi! Good luck on your study! I also heard good things about Jefferson so far, that I will get hired 100% the moment I graduate. :) The school's got a very good reputation indeed. My interview experience was very similar to yours. It took about 10 minutes - to my surprise- and about after very 'formal' six questions, I was accepted. I even asked the lady, "Am I (already) accepted?" cuz it was so quick!:chuckle
  9. Hi, I'm a new grad RN going right back to school for BSN at Thomas Jefferson University for fall '08 (RN-BSN program). I just had an interview today and got accepted! I found the people at Admissions very nice and professional. Although people who handles the documents and papers (the transcripts, application, essays and other stuff) said that they have lost my copy of license couple of weeks ago,,, but after more than 10 calls they have found it somehow. So after all my info was in thier data system, which was a day after, I got an email to set up an interview which I thought was quick. I hear that generally they handle matters very efficiently if it's not anything like scholarships or financial aid. Personally, I chose this school over other schools because of its flexible class (I can take it online or in-class or mix), location (center city!! lots of history, culture, fun and interesting people), reputation (more than 100 yrs of service only in health care). - I also heard that they have very good clinical instructors. :) I might be able to give you more specific info once I go to the orientation and actually start the school. Just keep searching on different schools and hope you find the best one for you!
  10. congrats! I'm sorry I have no suggestions about the interview,, but I was excited to see someone going to Jefferson University, couldn't just pass by. haha- Are you going there for the RN-BSN program? I applied for RN-BSN for Fall '08. I'm anxiously waiting on the news-whether I'm in or not. Hope you have a great interview! Good luck!
  11. Thank you so much for your detailed explanation! I actually graduated from 2yr college and have RN license. I have my OPT that will expire this year December. (since I graduated Dec 07) I plan to go into RN-BSN program this Fall semester so that I can stay in US. But I'm not sure if I get another 1yr of OPT when I finish RN-BSN program. Do you know anything about that by any chance?
  12. Do you know how long it takes to actually get green card for US educated RN with 2yr degree who has OPT? I guess sponsorship is needed to begin with,,right?
  13. TRUE..... I'll be so nervous and scared if I'm "hitting the floor runnig" when I don't know anything! haha Thanks!
  14. Is it just me? Traveling Agencies don't want anybody with 0 experience. They say at least 6+month..
  15. I think you'll be the first one to get into the program because 1. you'll be done with all of your pre reqs before Spring semester 2. your GPA's awesome!!! and I believe your NET score's pretty good...:) Just go and get the application ASAP and do whatever they tell you to do. Wish you the best luck!
  16. OMG SAME HERE!! I'm a new grad (Dec 07) in Southern Jersey and I applied to 7 places..and zero call backs.... I'm so depressed. I thought maybe because it's NJ so I applied to PA and NY license. I'm not sure whether it would help me or not but better than not trying I thought. I'm not gonna give up.. At least you had 2 interviews!!
  17. http://www.njnsinc.org/conventions/state.php you can find all the info about the convention here. registration is closed as Hydakins said but you can pay on site which is much expensive.
  18. I'm so sorry, I can't imagine losing someone that I truely love. It must be hard for you and your family.. my heart goes out to you..
  19. I'm a new grad who sent an application to a hospital about a month ago.. That was Jan 12, and then about a week later I gave a call to find out application status. The lady I talked to was very nice and she told me that she's still waiting for different staffs to reply and that she would call me back if there's any progress. I haven't heard from her since and I'm very anxious cuz that place is 'the' place I want to work.. A week ago I passed NCLEX. So I left a voice message saying that I passed the board.. I still haven't gotten anything from her or the hospital. How long does it generally take for the hospital to contact an applicant? Or do they not want me? Should I wait longer or should I apply for other hospitals? I don't know what to do..
  20. CONGRATS!!!! I passed the board on Feb 6, so I know your feelings!! I also had the weirdest 75 questions.. I seriously thought that I was gonna fail...but I did not! so, put up your feet, eat some, drink some, and ENJOY!!!
  21. I'm going there also! I've never been there,, but I graduated two month ago and I have hard time finding a job.. so I'm gonna see if going there will help me.. Good luck on yours!
