  1. If you did fine in your nursing courses, I wouldn't worry about my overall gpa when considering schools. Most will look at your nursing and science courses only anyway. My undergrad overall was not very high but I made stellar grades in all of my Nursing and science courses and o got accepted into one of the most competitive FNP programs in my state. 3 semesters away from graduating now. Best wishes í ½í¸Š
  2. I have been considering travel nursing for a while. I have 2 years nursing experience. I am a bit afraid to take the plunge. I have no preference on where to go, just would like to travel. My question(questions): Is it worth leaving a full time job? Are the jobs out there? Are you guys finding assignments back to back? Is 2 years enough experience? Thanks in advance....
  3. will accept er as critical care some crna schools have certain icu units that they prefer (usually surgical and cardiovascular). other schools aren't as concerned with the unit you worked in as much as they are the type of experience you had, and the level of comprehension you have walked away with. these schools will accept emergency room / emergency department (er/ed) as long as the unit is a level one trauma center. keep in mind that you're always better off with a more well rounded experience base, and just because a school accepts a certain type of experience, doesn't mean it's their first choice for an applicant. fairfield university, connecticut florida hospital college of health sciences, florida depaul university & north shore evanston hospital, illinois louisiana state university, louisiana new england university, maine bryanlgh medical center, nebraska texas christian university, texas, er experience may be accepted provided you can demonstrate familiarity with invasive monitoring, ventilators, and critical care pharmacology. distance learning available in 10 states. university of michigan-flint & hurley medical center, michigan. you are expected to have a working knowledge of swan ganz and other advanced monitoring modalities and titration of vasopressors (which are not usually utilized in the er). university of detroit mercy, michigan. er is acceptable if you can demonstrate familiarity with invasive monitoring, ventilators, and critical care pharmacology. charleston area medical center school of nurse anesthesia, west virginia. i got this information from http://www.all-crna-schools.com/crna-programs.html
  4. Does anyone know how many they hire per residency?
  5. LWAETHERBY, How did it go? I have an interview for the ER Residency tomorrow at 1pm. Any pointers? To OP- Yes you can apply to just the general RN 1 positions but just call the general number and ask to speak with a nurse recruiter. They contact you by email if they want to interview with you.
  6. i graduated from there in may '09. the net test will test your ability in math and reading. i think you need a 60 on each section. it's pretty easy, well the reading part is a bit difficult. i got 98% on math and 88% on the reading so it's not too too bad. when i applied i had a 3.2 gpa and got in on 1st try so you should be fine.
  7. i totally understand being on a tight budget.i really suggest taking the test at the end of the book while you're at barnes and noble. look for the book prioritization, delegation, and assignment by lacharity while you are there as well. my studying for the nclex included 75 questions a day in review mode from the nclex 3500(these are free online by the way) and the tests from the kaplan book. i did maybe 2 sections from the lacharity book just to get into answering priority questions. honestly what i feel helped the most was the nclex 3500 and kaplan. as i was getting questions on nclex i could remember the nclex 3500/kaplan ?'s and this helped me choose the best answer. i passed with 83 questions.
  8. Thank you for posting that. I'm 5'9 at 120 lbs. Tall and slim(but i have a cute figure, lol). I want some scrubs that are going to be long enough and not swallow all at the same time. I'm looking at the koi site now and was wondering if these tops/pants are long enough. They do sell them in tall sizes. I think i'm going to check them out.
  9. no she didn't. she has a post from earlier that same day saying she is still waiting for her results because she is in california then later posted that msg about having faith. no other message saying she got those results.as i said earlier i commend her for it and do think she should still believe and trust. but... i just wish it wasn't called a "trick" because its not a trick. it just makes sense. if you passed, why would they let you register to take it again? i just think that the readers here that have gone to the cc page want to believe that its wrong and are looking for it to be wrong. in fact it really could be, but i do believe that the numbers speak. she is not the proof though because she hasn't even gotten her results.
  10. she wasn't saying that the trick did not work for her. she is saying that she still has faith in god that she will still pass despite the trick allowing her to go to the cc page. she didn't find out if she actually passed or failed yet, just still praying that the 'trick' is wrong. for me, the trick worked. i passed. i did right after my test up until i found out and i got the pop up box that wouldn't let me go on. i do commend her for her faith though.
  11. i got 12. just found out today that i passed! yay me!

  14. i would suggest only doing questions. you will get to review content while reading the rationales. i would also suggest doing the questions in this order: 1)do a pretest just to see where you are 2)do remaining questions in review mode-i say this because it will allow you to look at the rationale right away and learn what you missed right away rather than going back to it. this helped me. 3)do a final test i didnt find saunders helpful at all. i did buy the kaplan strategies 2010 book for the questions and did nclex 3500 questions. also the lacharity book will help a lot with proritization. i took the hurst review in may but never even looked over any of it after the review. don't overload yourself! that won't help at all. i tested yesterday, july 18th. i cut off at 83 questions. will let you know how it went.
