  1. i have been with nightingale nurses for a year now and am extremely happy. i started with only a year and a half experience and i was placed immediately. i wanted only michigan. my recruiter was able to comply with my wishes. i know that up to a month ago that they had l & d positions in port huron, but don't know about now. they have always been available when i wanted to talk to them, and check in with me at least twice weekly. they will provide relocation and housing assistance. you can go to their website and submit everything online (application, resume, licence copies, etc...) or via fax. i am very pleased with them in regards to working hard on my behalf. good luck to you. i hope that you do speak with them. if you want to talk to them, the phone number is listed on the website, nightingalenurses.com.
  2. my last two assignments have been about 3 hours from home. i request block scheduling and rent a motel/hotel room for the days that i am there. and drive home after i am done with a block. i find that i make good money that way and get adequate sleep. i have a corporate lodging card that entitles me to a room rate that is cheaper then standard rates and that helps alot also. i end up paying anywhere from $30 to $40 a nite. that is what works for me. it is all individual.
  3. in traverse city, there is munson medical center. near there is also a hospital in petosky (can't think of the name of it....). also paul oliver hospital in frankfort. manistee is west shore medical center and ludington is memorial medical center. muskegon has mercy healthcare (recently merged with hackley hospital). right of the top of my head those are the ones that i can think of. good luck in your search, michigans economy is making it a bit difficult at this time.... with the recent merger of hackley and mercy in muskegon, they are not doing any hiring at this time. for the rest....i am not sure.
  4. you might want to check your "junk" mail folder or "spam" mail folder.... oftentimes things get sent there when your server does not recognize the sender.
  5. http://attacked911.tripod.com/ omg, that gave me goosebumps. all of today at work, i could not help but remember the devastation of that day and i hope that i never forget. i hope that none of us ever forget. i thank all of our heroes from that day and the days/weeks/months and years after that chose to deal with the aftermath and helped those that suffered from the effects of that day. may god always bless you and yours.
  6. i am as anal as the rest, i iron and crease. i just call it personal and professional pride. i don't knock those who don't, i just feel like i am more professional when i look professional too. it is just a self respect thing for me.
  7. miss missy you are right to always ask when in doubt:yeah:. never hesitate to ask what you don't know about, especially in a clinical setting. with any luck your co-workers will be happy to answer questions. the n-clex is a difficult test, but with study you will do fine. as you get close to graduation, do lots and lots of nclex style practice questions. i think that from march till i took my exam in the first part of july, i probably did 100-200 questions a day. i used lippincotts n-clex study guide. lol i am a horrible test taker and thouroughly expected to have to retake the test. happily i did not have to. i am now in my 2nd year of nursing:nurse: and am still asking a zillion questions. good luck in your studies. karlee
  8. i don't want to come off sounding rude or anything like that, but, this is a nursing licensure exam. all questions are geared towards determining a persons compentency to practice as a nurse. .....so no, there is no other focus.
  9. the questions are selected, based on what previous questions were previously missed. say you are going along and doing fine...and then you miss a sata question. they will hit you again with another similar question to give you the chance to prove your competency. so she may have missed one type of question and you a different type. or maybe you did not miss and she did or vice versa. do you see what i am trying to explain? if she missed a prioratization question, the computer program would continue to hit with the type of question until it was determined that the test taker comprehended or not. i hope this helps you.
  10. check out 8northstaffing. my recruiter is rodger kress. excellent pay. great support....so far have not found a downside...but then again...i have not been with them long. website is same as agency name plus dot com. gotta love a computer and a cell phone...cuz he as only as far away as either. office is based out of grand rapids and he came to see me for initial interview. paperwork was all done online and via fax. the company logo is "it's all about you." that says it all, doesn't it? company pays for orientation (not full pay, but at least they want you to have orientation to the facility). they offer per diem and contracts. check it out.
  11. ok......i gotta ask....what is group one???
  12. I am so sorry that you had to experience this awful event. My heart goes out to you and the pain you are dealing with at this time.

  14. safae, i am by no means an english major, but these are some things that i see just skimming through this. most colleges/universities have an english department that will proofread papers prior to submission. also your computer should have a spellcheck/grammer check on whatever program you are using to keyboard the paper on. check with your school and see if they have the option of submitting a paper to the proper department. one school that i went to we could submit via the library services, and another it was the english department. also find out what program you are using on your computer (word perfect? microsoft word) and find out where the spellcheck option is. good luck with your paper and your future nursing career. karlee
  15. :nurse:Welcome to Michigan, RNCCHP. I am a fairly recent graduate...and I also check the site for non-student postings. Hmmm, maybe we will need sub-topics here....Student postings and Working Nurses in Michigan postings What can we tell you about our Great State? I see by your bio that you are a corrections nurse. Are you planning on going into Correctional Nursing? My husband works at one of the prisons here (Corrections Officer) in Inmate Health. He says that they are "desperately" looking for corrections nurses. No...I am not going there...not out of dislike for the environment...but cuz hubby working there....could cause some conflict and strife, don't ya think ? When are you moving? Please let us know how we can help you.
