  1. I was looking up unique looking resumes for format ideas and I liked the ones that have a picture of the candidate. But is that too much for a resume?
  2. I'm in California and took the NCLEX the week of Thanksgiving 2019 It took 17 days for my license to post on the Breeze website (however, I had a good PVT pop up at 24hrs after the exam.) I didn't know it at first, but California now participates in quick results (only for RN licensure) So I paid the fee at 14 days after the exam and got an "unofficial pass"

I did Uworld exclusively too and was discouraged with my low scores. But the most important thing is to remediate and go back and make up tests of questions you got wrong. It's important to understand why you got them wrong and learn from them. The scores are not really important because when you start to remediate, you are getting higher scores because you are familiar with those questions already and usually get them right the second time around (see how that can mess up your averages?) I would do 50 questions (all mixed up) and then I would go back and read each rational of both my correct and incorrect questions. NCLEX wants to make sure you are a SAFE practitioner. It's impossible to know everything I got a "low chance of passing" 15% the week before my exam on the exam indicator. But I was diligent in going back on my questions and remediating. I passed! Good luck!
  4. I received a fail letter a couple of years ago with 2 subjects "above passing" and the rest "near passing" At the time, I had taken all 265 questions.
  5. ***Update*** Received license certificate on 12/23, nearly 4 weeks after taking the exam
  6. I would use Uworld and just continue to do questions daily. Review the basic lab values and pharmacology. You can't possible recall everything but if you do questions daily it will keep your brain always working and critical thinking
  7. Graduated in 2006 and have taken NCLEX multiple times. Uworld: the one review that worked for me because I could read the rationales of both my incorrect and correct answers. The important think to do is remediation and make up exams from even your incorrect questions so you understand what you need to know. The best think I kept in mind was that the NCLEX is making sure you are a safe practitioner. You don't have to memorize all types of rare diseases. Understand the concept of what how things affect the body. I loved videos from RegisteredNurseRN.com and NurseJaxx (and c'mon, you need to watch Nurse Blake for laughs) 11/26/19 Exam in CA (I did 265 questions and took up all 6 hours) 11/27- PVT test 24 hours after exam = good pop up Longest Thanksgiving vacation ever... 12/9 - just short of 2 weeks later, I realize "California-RN" is listed as a participating state for quick results! I paid the $7.95 and received PASS unofficial results (my name and license number still hasn't posted on Breeze) 12/13 - I called BRN (35 minutes wait) and a very nice person confirmed I passed the exam and that they will message the licensing department. Shortly after, my name popped up on the Breeze site. *** If you have failed the NCLEX before, don't give up!
  8. I used UWorld, and my tests were low and ranged from '30-'60s. The most important thing to do is to remediate and make up tests from incorrect questions to ensure you are learning why you missed them. I kept thinking to myself (from a YouTube video I saw), "NCLEX wants to make sure you are a SAFE practitioner." You don't have to know all the details of random diseases but know the basics. I don't know how people do hours of studying in one day and be able to retain info. I could only do 20-50 because I would only have time to go back over those same questions and make notes. That's what's cool about UWorld, too; you can type in the letters and print them out from the site. The flashcard option is excellent, too; you can't print them out. I used that flashcard option for the charts in the questions. Closer to my test time, I did start to do 75 questions a day. I started off doing tests specific to a subject (to make sure I covered the basics.) Then I just made up tests using random questions. My predictor test was only 15% (less likely to pass) a week before my exam. But I continued studying and reading all rationale. I passed! Good luck to you!
  9. You are not alone! I have been there many times before and have tried all the review courses. What worked for me was Uworld because I could read the rationale of all my choices, even the ones I got correct. Don't give up! Take some time to re-group and try again. You can do it!
  10. I'm a dork, I didn't realize CA participated in quick results for NCLEX-RN ?
  11. Congratulations! You mentioned you paid for quick results, but California does not offer that. I’m confused how you were able to get those results. I’ve been waiting 2 weeks for results too (after a good PVT pop up) and I’m anxiously waiting for any news
  12. I've often thought of this over the years. There are always the patients that were with you for months at a time and you feel close to the families. I feel like you really shouldn't "friend" patients while they are still in-house. Wait until they've been discharged. Also, if you friended every "special" family, you'd end up with tons of people you look back and think, "who were they again?" Over the years, there will be many families special to you, but maybe not enough to keep the hundreds as friends on social media.
  13. Took it in Cali on June 1st, received bad PVT pop up at 48 hours. Awaiting official mail results (usually takes a week to get the "did not pass" letter) I've tried many courses and this isn't my first exam. But my favorite has been the Uworld questions. I loved the rationale and the test was pretty much SATA and priority like UW. I hope to try again soon.
  14. Took mine on June 1st in CA, waiting for results
  15. I figured we could all encourage each other as we count down to our exam
  16. Took my exam on 1/7/16, and did 75 questions (75th one was correct). Did the PVT on the 5th day after test and got the "bad pop-up" and received the confirmation letter that I failed 2 days later (exactly a week to the day I took the exam.)
  17. congratulations!!!! I, too, have tried other popular review courses but haven't passed the nclex. I started using the Uworld questions and really think the rational helped me a lot.
  18. Congratulations!!! I took mine Thursday and haven't received results. What state did you take it in? We don't have quick results in CA
  19. I would seriously consider postponing your exam until you feel ready. I have taken all kinds of programs and read all the study books. I even paid for the NSBN questions. I took the exam on 1/7 and by far, the UWorld questions were the best preparation for me. The rational for each question is excellent and I was able to make exams for myself that consisted of just priority questions. I felt comfortable during the test because the majority is priority and infection control. This isn't my first time taking the test, so I'll keep you updated :) My exam stopped at 75 questions. I wish I didn't pay for so many review books and programs. They worked well for a lot of people, but in the end, doing questions over and over while reading all rational (even with the questions you got correct) was the best preparation. Good Luck!
  20. Sorry! There IS a rational explaining why the answer is correct. But I wish there was a rational for each of the other wrong answers on the same question to explain why those answers were incorrect. (Like Kaplan questions) It would help train your mind even more on how to answer the questions.
  21. Thank you, loved the break down of what you did to prepare ?
  22. It didn't help me. The answers to questions did not show rational for all the answers, just for the one correct answer. I think it would have helped me to process it better if I knew the rational for each possible answer for each question. The price is great for the amount of questions you have access to (about 1300 all together, includes pre-test). I hate that everything is only online, not printable so you can make notes on certain things if wanted to. I knew that info going into this, but I didn't realize how much it would annoy me to keep logging on to refer to things. I felt the questions were more difficult than the NCLEX (but then again, I didn't pass, so I have other issues too )
  23. Kdoolay,ADN- you are sweet :) I haven't gotten my CPR yet. I was studying in the mornings, reading content and doing questions for about 3 hours. My weakness is that I get distracted easily with "house" stuff (laundry, kids stuff.)
