Too many hats
I have had both rewarding and exhausting days, but today I almost quit. I had 6 patients, 4 were totals, DM, and the same were having acute issues that not been address for days. One pt left AMA today due the discharge process taking so long. I was told in the future by management when med profile is not done correctly, for me to correct myself without call a doctor for clafication because thats common sense. I was blow away about what I was being told. I guess if orders needed to be claifiy, I need to use common sense because apparently I don't have any, and correct orders without consulting a physician.

STILL don't have a job?? Vent here!
Here is my story: Want a job in the hospital after 50 million application no success. Decided to try my luck with LTC. I got a job offer. Here comes the sad part: They wanted to hire me in the SNF hall (great experience I thought) but they wanted me to care for 26 patients ranging from fresh hip replacements to feeding tubes, you name it (all by myself) no take back with 1 CNA and 1 MA that can only pass po meds. The pay was 21/hr...I wanted the job and need a job, but under thoses conditions I sd no...God will bless me with something better...I know he will. Hate to turn a job in this economy Have two interviews in two LTC, so we shall see (hopefully not 26 pts)

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
I took the NCLEX-RN exam yesterday and it shut off at 75 questions. I felt sick to my stomach when leaving the testing center. On the hand I glad its over for now anyway. I look for both tricks: 1st was told on allnurse if the screen turn grey then blue (passed) stays grey (failed). My screen was grey then blue....2nd trick was the pearsonvue. I tried it when I got home 1 1/2 hours after the exam (delivery sucessful) ( its said contact the board, wasn't allow to the cc page). Crossing my fingers and really hope thru this all it come true that I pass. Quick Results is 48 hours and I still have one more day to go...I'm dying here

This sucks!
Yes you can retake your science as many times as you want and they go by the last grades in the A&P new policy became effective right after I put in my application to get accept. sometime in june 07 but remember that if you consider other schools for nursing u will not be consider for their programs is you have taken the classes more than twice.

This sucks!
First of all take a deep breath. Ok now let me tell you my story...sorry for the long post. I just got in to the R.N. program at North Harris. I had a B yes a B in English and A in Pysch and A in A&P 1 and 2. Ok, listen the all campus will accept either A&P 1 or 2 which ever is higher for your points. I had total points before the hessi 7.7. 3.7 for the 3 classes because of the B and 4 points for having over 30 something credits. The rest comes from the entrance exam. Don't listen to other people because some people can discourage you. I also had a C in pharm even though they don't count that class against you, people were saying you probably won't get in because of the B in English and the C in Pharm. I am here to lift your spirits. You can do this, just make sure you have A's in your science if not retake thoses classes, new policy unlimit. Study and review the hessi before taken it because you want to do your best on this test because your last points come from this. Good Luck and if applying at Cy-fair try other campuses because of all the negatives comments that have been made.

I have work part-time jobs even ones inside my home, taken out loans, grants and any money I can find to support us to finish. The classes weren't as hard but when it somes to nursing classes I have no idea. I post as the months go by in Sept. Good Luck and God Bless. If I have made it this far, please believe when I say anybody can do. Never give up your dreams because for some of us that all we have.

Aspiring Nurses: Why not Med School??
Don't ever think you can't accomplish your dreams. I myself have regrets of not pursing med school but after years deciding to go back with kids now I applied to nursing school. I just think for me nursing school is the second best thing to being a doctor. I just hope that I don't get sick of school because I want to pursue a masters. By the way I am approaching 30. Good Luck with any journey you choose.

Nursing School Orientation. What to wear!?
MY school doesn't allow jeans or any type of denim. Anything outside of that you can wear.

Anyone faint their first day of clinical?
Don't feel bad. I start NS in the Fall and if that happen to me I would be OK with that. This is new adventure and sh*t happens, but it kinda funny

need so much advice since i am only a prenursing student
Yes U-H started a nursing program for RN-BSN in Sugarland. My advice is focus on A's at this point to make up for other grades to boost GPA. Also don't let someone tell you that if you recieve a C or two or even some B's that it won't cut because I made into a nursing school where students thought it was life or death if you receive less than an A. I personally have a lot of A's but have receive two C's and five B's. One C was in a nursing class before applying and there were others that said I had no chance. Best advice I can give is have all A's in your science class and keep your eye on the prize. Don't let anyone stray you from it if its your true calling. Good Luck and GOD BLESS because you will need both. ;)

Anyone applying for Tomball 07
I took it at North Harris and it was hard and demanding. I had a lecture exam and math exam on the same day when time to test. I had something like 3 chapters of math homework plus tons of reading every week. I met only once a week for 5 hours. I had discussions online about 2 every week. I had to do research as well. The worst part is if you are rusty on math it will be hard. My professor never taught the math part. She wanted us to learn independent and if you didn't understand something instead of helping she referred you to tutoring. The class is not so difficult that you can not pass but does keep you on your toes. The key is not to get behind on anything especially your reading. The class test were on the computer and the math pencil and paper. I hope this helps. One more thing I had a B average in the class but pass with a C because the smallest mistake with your math even if you understand how to solve. points were taken off leaving me with the C. Ex: If the question ask for how many grams? When answering don't just give the number write grams beside it even though the question clearly stated how many grams. Simple things such as that brought my average down. Good luck. You can survive.
