Nursing shortage in Texas
Thanks for responding. Can you tell me why these hospitals are having trouble staffing nurses? I'm just curious.

Nursing shortage in Texas
I know this is an old thread. I just want to ask if there is a nursing shortage anywhere in Texas that hospitals in the area are considering sponsorship of foreign nurses. I know that it's become very difficult to seek employment in the US for foreign nurses and I read somewhere that there still is a shortage in certain areas. I want to be proactive in trying to find a job and if you have any suggestions, I would really appreciate it.

Took NCLEX on December and I still don't know if I passed!
I just have to air this out. I took the NCLEX in Manila December 8 last year. I figured I'd receive my results in the mail approximately three weeks to a month after that especially because of the holidays. Unfortunately, January and February passed and I still haven't received a letter from the Board so I called them up and I was told they mailed it December 16. I told myself I'd give it two more weeks so I waited and yup, still no results. I called them up again and I have to tell you, it's not easy getting a hold of them. I had my address changed to a California address and requested that they resend my results. The lady who answered the phone told me she'd pass along my request to the person in charge. I asked if I needed to pay anything and she said she didn't know, but she'd inform the other person about my concern. My aunt receive a letter on the mail asking for $10 so that they can mail it again. She wrote a check for $10 and sent it along with a letter I wrote requesting for the copy of my results. The check cleared in Feb 24 and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I know it's not their fault that I didn't get the letter, but it's just been too long of a wait and I'm dying here! It's been almost three months! I want to be able to move on with my life and this uncertainty is making it hard for me. How long do these requests take to get processed? I'm not sure I can endure another week of this.

what is the right answer to this question??????
Correct me if I'm wrong, only universal precautions are necessary for HIV+ patients. So there shouldn't be any problem if the pregnant nurse was assigned to that patient.

November Nclex Test Takers Waiting For Results In California
I'm a Filipino too but I don't have SSN. I just took the NCLEX so that I can move on from all the exams before I try to find a job as an RN. I took the exam December 8 and I was told the wait would be around 3 weeks by some friends so I still have a few weeks.

Took NCLEX RN stop at 75 twice & FAILED.3rd Time stop at 75 AGAIN & got the POPPED UP
I am curious why the NCSBN Learning Extension is not mentioned very much in this forum. I found it really helpful and I also found the questions in the quizzes and chapters similar to some of the questions I got in the NCLEX-RN. Plus, the 3-week program only costs $50 if I'm not mistaken. This is more for people who know the content but need practice in answering NCLEX-type questions.

just took the test
^I don't think it's the first try that counts the most. These review programs help you learn how to go about answering questions and at the same time, learn things that you might not have known about prior to the program. The important thing is to try to go deeper and understand the rationales instead of trying to memorize the answers to specific questions because obviously the chances of getting the exact same questions on your nclex exam would be very slim. I'm no expert and I haven't received the official letter yet, but I firmly believe that nursing or not, that's how you make full use of your time (and money) on these review books and programs.

November Nclex Test Takers Waiting For Results In California
Can we revive this thread for all those awaiting results from California BRN? Has anyone else received the results from the mail and when did you take the test? Thanks!

Getting NCLEX-RN results in California
@bruzee28 - Couldn't they just tell you if you did pass or not by phone? I think that's just cruel. You've been waiting for over 7 months for those results. Or aren't they allowed to say?

Taking the NCLEX in MANILA (Help please)
Anyone taking the NCLEX anytime in October or November? I haven't received my eligibility yet, but I'm expecting it soon. How's the schedule? There's a rumor that the testing center is backed up for months. Is that true?

Could you please be more specific about the nightmare you are pertaining to? I'm asking because some of my friends submitted their application to an agency that's supposed to let them work in Dubai.

Question about Angeles University
Yup. They consistently have a decent passing rate and I noticed that a lot of their students made the top 10 during the oath-taking ceremony.

Arroyo announces 'NARS' for unemployed nurses
From what I read, the NARS program is only for registered nurses 35 years and below that have not been practicing nursing for at least a year and are residents of the areas they identified. They're saying the 8000 is enough because the participants will be in their hometowns so they don't have to spend much for board and lodging. I would actually be okay with the 8000 if I lived anywhere near the municipalities included.

If You were Me, What Will You Choose?
Yup, most middle class households here have maids. Some even have three or more if they have kids at home. Best of luck to the thread poster.

Share Your NLE Scores
Mine was 87 86 79 77 86 and my average is 83. I just got a copy of my scores since I took the November NLE.

For those who have taken the NLE more than once
I'm sorry, but I disagree with what you're saying. I don't believe it's pure luck. You might be correct in saying that the board comes up with their own rationales, but they're still based on theory. Doing well in quizzes doesn't guarantee that a person has the necessary analytical skills that being a nurse requires. In my opinion, that's why some people who are supposedly considered the smartest in their class, still fail in the NLE. Being bookish doesn't count for everything. You have to be able to apply what you have learned. Think about it. Why do students in some schools continually get a good passing rate while others don't? You can't claim that it's just because they're lucky. That would be plain wrong. I didn't go to one of those prestigious schools, but I know what I know because of pure hard work. I don't agree that my passing the NLE is based on just luck. I would probably consider going back to school if I failed for the 4th time. If not, after getting a copy of her scores, concentrate on those subjects that she didn't do well at. Surely, she didn't fail all parts in all those four takes.

If You were Me, What Will You Choose?
i would stick to the secondary hospital. it's so difficult to find work these days i think it would be a mistake to give up your job without assurance you'll get absorbed in the government hospital you're talking about. but that's just me.
