  1. I am ready to send my application to EC (LVN to ASN) but is concerned if Texas BON recognizes EC's nursing programs and its graduates. Thanks in advance for all replies.
  2. Congratulations! You're a nurse now!
  3. hi! i know you need to pass cgfns first before you can sit for nclex. nice to hear from someone back home!:welcome:
  4. LVN here, salaried $40,000/yr. plus $35/visit beyond 30 units in a week, plus free car, gas reimbursement and cellphone.
  5. Nike Shox is my favorite, so far the most comfortable shoes for me.
  6. Vnightingale06 here from Las Piñas City, graduated 5 mos. ago as LVN now working on my RN, working as Home Health nurse.
  7. I don't know if there is Fresenius Medical Care in Florida. Here in Texas, the co. provides training for the inexperienced but will have you sign a contract for 2 years before you leave the co. or pay the cost of training. :)
  8. The best of luck to you! If I did it, so can you! Just put your heart into it. Keep us posted.
  9. I passed the NCLEX the first time I took it.
  10. thanks for all the replies. as for the free cellphone, I use it for coordination of care with the pts' MD when needed and to call the office to report anything that needs to be reported to my supervisor, patient wise.
  11. I'm an LVN and working as a home health nurse. My pts. are geri who were recently discharged from being admitted in a hospital. I visit them to assess and do teachings on disease process, medication, S/SX of illness, med SE and sometimes do wound care, administer insulin. I enjoy my job now compared to be in LTC facility and I love driving to pts. homes especially when the co. provides you a service car, free cellphone, and gas reimbursement.
  12. I used to work in a nursing home but it just wasn't for me. The day I quit my job in LTC, same day I got hired in a home health care co. as a full time employee, salaried, you get a car, free cellphone and gas reimbursement. What more can I ask for. :balloons:
  13. I'm doing part-time home health care and paid $30.00/visit.
  14. I have one since I started my LVN program last year (reduced the bulk of my backpack by 2 books - Taber's dictionary and Davis' Drug Guide) and now, working as an LVN in a Long-Term care / Rehab gave me an advantage having a PDA since I use it before calling DRs., anticipating any med or lab test orders. It served me well and worth it.
  15. Graduated 2 months ago and my starting pay is $17/hr in a nursing home here in Texas.
  16. I'm so sorry! I agree with The Commuter. I'm a new LVN grad with no experience. I walked in and fill out an application form and was hired on the spot. Pay is not bad either for a start, $17/hr. I understand how you feel but you need to stay motivated.
  17. Well actually, there are some opening in the DFW area for correctional LVN but afraid to apply because of the fact (this may sound crazy, forgive me) it is a correctional facility.
  18. Airway should always be the first!!!
  19. i dunno how this will help but in mosby's nursing diagnosis handbook, there is this nursing dx for financial crisis in the home environment which is impaired home maintenance r/t to insufficient finances. goodluck on your paperwork!
  20. Thanks for the advice IndianapolisNurse! I really appreciate it.
  21. Hello All! I just graduated Aug. this year and passed my boards last Sept.2006 but until now I haven't landed a job inspite of sending out my resumes and filling in application forms from companies that need LVNs. I'm getting upset! Because of this, I thought of applying in a staffing/temp agency that hires nurses but dunno how it is like in terms of assignment and most specially the pay. Do these agencies have a cut (percentage) from the pay you get? PLEASE HELP!!!!
