  1. uhm, just wanted to ask these so i'd have a definite answer, is it really a must to enroll in a review program before taking any of the qualifying exams? wouldn't reviewing by yourself enough to make one pass? are there certain stuff that you'd only get the info if you enroll in a program(not referring to the leakage or anything!), like where to take the exam, where to pay and the likes...
  2. most of the schools you mentioned do not accept non-fresh grad applicants.. one of the few i approve of are UMAK, Delos Santos, UDMC/SACI since these are the school's that i was able to inquire with.. am currently with SACI since it didn't give me much of a hassle when i was applying for nursing..
  3. the government isn't doing anything about it as far as i know.. she's actually focused on the Call Center Industry since this is the one bringing in much of the jobs for newly grads and OSY's here.. she's just after a colorful SONA with regards to the economy.. blech!!
  4. just wanted to know.. how much are hospitals paying now here in the PI? i learned from a friend that nurses' salary is only 8k in st. luke's.. is this true?? no wonder most graduates prefer to work in call centers since the pay would be double that amount for newly grads.. this is one reason why most nurses go abroad instead of sharing their knowledge and skills here... tsk!
  5. i don't think private hospitals would bend the rules just because she, as the president, signed a law. what would happen to the hospitals if these people who signed promissory notes would leave and never come back to pay? it's not just the hospitals who would be affected, think of all the people working in rank & file.. if the hospital would go bankrupt then these wage earners would surely be affected as well..
  6. just my two cents.. if you're referring to PCHS which nearly had all the board takers last 2006 in complete dilemma then i don't suggest you enroll there.. i do have a neighbor who is graduating this october from that school and she told me that there are tons of problems that they're actually encountering these days.. given the scandal and the lose of integrity of the school she's just hoping for the best after she graduates. i pass by St. Joseph's College along E. Rodgriquez Ave. almost everyday and i notice that they do have CNA(clinical nursing assistant) course and the usual BS Nursing course and their base hospital is St lukes.. i don't know if they do have graduates already or even board passers to boot but you can check them out and see if they would credit some if not most of your subjects.. goodluck!
  7. ^ right... my stand as well....
  8. in any site or account wherein you need to enter a username and password, i think it's but natural not to let anybody know your username and password. that is because you need to protect whatever information you may have placed there. if you give them your username and password then they would have total control of your account. i wouldn't sign with that kind of angency. just my POV...
  9. honestly, what i would suggest is for you to research more on the schools/colleges/universities around your area so you can get the pros and cons of each.. i may give you my opinion but it can also confuse you so just do more asking and inquiring.. you can also try umak.. they have a ladderized program for 2nd coursers.. i really like it there!!
  10. thanks for understanding... :) like what you said, it really depends on the student... i can say that myself since the school am enrolled right now isn't really that great as well.. i just decided not to transfer anymore since it would affect my transcript.. this is my 3rd school since i started schooling way way before.. hehehe... let's just strive to be better students that what's expected of us.. correct? hehehe!!
  11. thanks for understanding... you're right.. it all depends on the student!! take care and goodluck!!
  12. with all due respect, i didn't mean to generalize all the students.. as i've said it all depends on the student's interest and efforts to be able to get high grades and pass with flying colors.. i just sited the experience i had with some of the students before.. i was also told by a friend who has a friend currently studying there that when her friend tried to have her grades evaluated in other schools, they said that her 1.0 grade is only equivalent to a 3.0 in other schools.. how they were able to gauge that is beyond my knowledge.. i was just curious why the student from lanting was able to give that comment about her own grades.. she is actually encouraging my classmate to transfer to lanting since she said that she doesn't have a hard time getting high grades even if she doesn't really study hard.. i just told my classmate if that's the case then she's better off where she is right now and just strive harder to pass all her subjects.. i am also impartial to the appearance of the school or the facilites of the school if it's airconditioned or not.. what am just trying to point out is the testimonies of the students in that particular school... regards!!!
  13. @rookieq sure no problem... will try to answer your question thru pm if i can.. hehehe!! goodluck on your search...
  14. go and check with pamantasan ng lungsod ng makati.. they have a great program for second coursers and it would only take you two years to finish... goodluck..
  15. Like some of the posters here, i also came from PWU edsa though i didn't graduate there. i can say that the professors before would be more competent as compared to the professors they have now. I am sitll in communication with some of the professors and they are all frantically urging students to enroll, i wonder why! i am continuing my nursing education after a long vacation (heheh!!) but i opted to enroll in another university. i have experienced several problems and discrepancies when i was getting my documents and just to site a scary example, they nearly lost my TOR.. that is very disturbing right.. and the system of teaching hasn't changed. I can say that i've had a good education/background which i am able to use now but the feedbacks i've heard from one of the professors there who also graduated there isn't really impressive. he opted to transfer to another school to teach for reasons which i decided not to discuss here. please take time to check all the schools you're considering like what i did and do visit them personally and try to talk to the dean or anybody from the college of nursing so you may get more info on how things are done. i suggest pamantasan ng lungsod ng makati.. one of the best schools i was considering and they also offer ladderized courses for 2nd coursers and working students.
  16. I also have spoken to several friends in school and they are all opting to transfer to lanting but based on my own experiences with the students before who i had the chance to interact with during OR duties, i was surprised at the range of their exposures or knowledge about the subject we were discussing. I do not mean to downgrade the quality of education the school is providing but i would like to ask the threadstarter to ask around and get more info regarding the school. most of my schoolmates are opting to transfer because most of the people they've talked to apparently told them that it's really easy to get high grades and pass the course in lanting. this is just my opinion since i believe the greatness of a student still relies in his ability to exert effort in studying. peace!
  17. i feel bad for those students who were unconsciously included in the controversy.. they shouldn't be discriminated especially if they didn't come from the schools included.. i just hope nothing like this would happen when i will take the board exam.. i still believe that being honest can make you reach greater heights and let you fulfill your dreams.. am sure those who were dishonest would be found out later on when they reach the hospitals.. they would surely be clueless of the things that they're not really familiar with.. haay..
  18. thanks.. will check it next time i pass by a bookstore... :)
  19. where do you think can i find one.. i think that's one cool book.. ehehhe!! would want to send one to my sister there in vegas.. thanks!!
  20. aaaw!! am green with envy.. hehehe!! if i can just make time go a little faster.. goodluck!!
  21. if you're a second degree courser you might want to check pamantasan ng lungsod ng makati.. i was told that they have a ladderized course for those working already so you can study without resigning from work..neat school as well... good luck!
  22. i know that my previous college located in taft is doing trimester already..it is the Philippine Women's University in Taft.. you might want to inquire there..
  23. hi guys.. am glad i saw this forum.. i'm currently enrolled and hopefully finish my course in 2yrs time.. i stopped during my summer internship several years ago.. i was supposed to be an incoming 4th year student when i stopped and decided to work instead.. hehehe!! i have no regrets though.. am enjoying my classes and am excited to go back inside the OR and ER.. am from pasig.... :)
  24. hi there!! i understand that you have been reading the newspaper but am just wondering why you haven't read about the incident on the board exams which is still being discussed until now.. the owner of that school PCHS was allegedly the one who sold out on the board exams.. would you want to study in a school that would hinder your possibilities of getting a license and much more hinder you from working abroad? I am currently looking for a school since i stopped during my 3rd year summer duties for some reason.. i am planning to enroll at UDMC/Southeast Asian College.. I tried going to different schools to see which one would accept and consider even the minor subjects that i have taken already and so far its UDMC and Delos Santos who seems to be willing.. I chose to pursue my enrollment at UDMC since i already have a cousin studying there and it would be much easier for me to travel to that area. @weebs21 - I suggest you look for other schools instead of PWU, that's where i studied before and based from my previous experiences and what i experienced just recently when i was getting a copy of my document, i can say that the school hasn't improved..it took me 4hours to finally get something out of them coz i think they lost my transcript.. I wouldn't suggest this school to anybody.. goodluck though if that's what you want.. you can try UDMC since i think they also have night classes..
