  1. LOL. i got a chuckle out of this
  2. physician assistant. as a matter of fact i'm thinking about finishing up my bsn and then going to PA school
  3. This is not always helpful. i called the nurse manager of L&D at this hospital i'm interested in and she directed me to apply through human resources. I know human resources will probably bypass my resume because of no experience, which is why I resorted to contacting the nm.
  4. WOW are you serious about PTAs making more than RNs?
  5. Just wanted to say Good Luck in whatever path you decide to take. i'm curious btw, is this valley health system in ridgewood nj? thanks
  6. does anyone know what good samaritan hospital in suffern NY starts their new grads with? thanks
  7. gosh..i'm in NJ and I really really want to get into peds. thats the only place i know if i get in i'll give my all 100%. i love love love peds. I'm a may 09 grad and i'm becoming miserable. I just dont want to jump at any job because i'm afraid i might end up getting fired because of lack of interest. this already happened at a nursing home job i lost after a month because i was getting bored. please any nj nurses working in peds help. I also applied for a PA and NY license. i'm willing to drive the distance JUST to get into peds.
  8. Congrats op! God closes one door and opens several others. I'm in a similar situation. Got terminated after a month orientation at a nursing home because apparently I wasn't initiative and they got feedback that I had a huge ego -_-. This was the first time ever since being on orientation that I got feeback regarding my performance. Had I had known before I would've tried to change. Sometimes I need outside help to figure out what I'm doing wrong.one of my coworker acted like I was doing fine yet go behind my back and tell the don how I have a huge ego because I'm a RN and what not..very hurtful. I guess that's a welcome to the world of nursing politics.
  9. is their new grad program posted on their website because i didnt see it. thanks
  10. what state are you in?
  11. jrhillborough, thank you for this post! i felt like someone wrote exactly what I felt like inside.
  12. i was told i was too slow to handle such an enviroment taking care of 20 pts
  13. i was fortunate to land a job at a nursing home subacute last month. but i was recently told that i'm not quite ready to be on my own taking care of 20 pts, my orientation can't be extended so they let me go. now the question is, should i put this job on my resume? i mean i learned alot from it. Also what would I say to an amployer if asked why i only lasted there a month? thanks for your help
  14. whats your patient to nurse ratio?
  15. wow, congrats and good luck! i'm also hoping to get into peds in the future. you gave me hope because i'm also starting out in LTC
  16. Hi all, After 4 months of job hunting, I recently got hired at a subacute facility. I'm currently still on classroom orientation. After reading numerous threads on here about how new grads quit shortly after getting hired in LTC, i feel very scared and discouraged . I will get 3 weeks orientation on the floor. I would have a max of 20 patients, or less depending on census. hospitals in my area job market will not get better until the spring supposedly. I was told by a hospital recruiter to get experience in subacute because they'll still consider that as relevant experience later on. so i figured i might as well get some type of experience til then, cuz its better than no experience at all. plus, december grads are coming out soon. Did anybody ever start out in subacute and ended up having an okay experience? also any advice please share. thanks
  17. do you know if hackesnack is still hiring new grads? i've applied there numerous times with no luck.
  18. hey guys, I hope i'm not too late. I'm not too sure about my resume. I would love to have my resume critiqued as well. Prefer to email it. Thanks
  19. i had to take a $10/hr job in a doctors office. i'm not working as an RN though, just an aid. i need some sort of income while still looking for a RN job.
  20. i'm sooo sorry to hear that..especially in this job market thats the worst thing that can happen. but to be positive, think of it as a better opportunity awaiting elsewhere. God closes one door and opens another.
  21. congrats on getting an interview. when is the interview? just explain to the recruiter that it will take time for the professors to give you one because school is back in session. they'll understand hopefully. or better yet go to your professors office in person. are u gonna be interviewing in a hospital?
  22. when did you graduate? usually RN residency programs don't accept those who graduated >6 months
  23. sorry for your loss
  24. Went to an open interview house for RNs at saint barnabas today. Before I could even get past the reception at HR, the first question I was asked was whether i'm a new grad..my response was yes. I was then turned away. told me to write my name and number on the back of some piece of paper and leave my resume, and I should be called when they're hiring new grads again..which is unknown as to when that will be. so much for driving 30min and paying for parking
