  1. Thanks....I think I will be very happy. I couldn't do it when my daughter was little....Too hard to see the ones there die to violence or abuse. I'm so excited, cannot wait for Monday to get here!
  2. Can she wear ted hose (support stockings)? Elevation and some support should take care of the problem. Also, the nutritional angle is something to look into too.
  3. I say leave it off! i had a similar experience. Only thing was I have been a nurse a very long time, but this particular job was only my third job in 10 years.. I went through the verrrryyy lengthhhyyyy (3 weeks) hospital orientation, took repeat ekg classess (even though i could read a strip backwards) etc.....I only lasted about 3 shifts. It was the WORST job ever. i walked in at the end of my shift, asked nicely to have a different preceptor. Needless to say they would not make the change. My reasons were valid. So I quit. Right there. I just got a job at one of the top children's hospitals in the country. I did not list them anywhere, resume or online app. There are plenty of nurses out there that have been in the same situation. After such a short time, its impossible for that employer to have a good idea with what kind of nurse you are. Do not risk it. People give bad references....That is a fact. No matter what you hear, it happens. Just start fresh! There are a ton of jobs out there.....You will find one that fits and that is right for you!
  4. I have been a nurse for over 10 years. I am finally going to work for one of the nations very best children's hospitals on Monday. I have no peds experience, and have been doing MDS assessments in LTC for the past year or so! Any advice on what to expect or where I can brush up on my peds info?? I do not even know the vs range for kids!! I am very smart and will catch on quickly. The only peds experience I have is from over 10 years ago, a few clinicals at the same hospital! Thanks For The Help! Becca
  5. good news. the lab urine result came back clear (yay)! That was very scary, I have never failed a drug screen before! So I am starting my new job on Monday. Hopefully I have found a "forever" position at this hospital!
  6. Yes, I am thankful that is was pcp and not something more common like pot or cocaine.....if you can be thankful about an "inconclusive" drug test. She said that this happens a lot, they send it to the lab, and that I should not worry.
  7. Yes nyquil cold and flu. I looked into that and it has the dextromethorphan in it. So, the one they sent to the lab will probably be + as well?? The employee health nurse told me not to worry, but I cannot help but worry!
  8. They did like an instant drug screen there....kind of like a pregnancy test attached to the bottle you pee in. There was no split specimen. She just put the urine bottle into a plastic bag and sealed it. It was sent to the lab for a more sensitive test. Im guessing that if the urine sent to the lab is + as well, thats when it moves on to the medical review person. This totally stinks. I have never had anything like this happen to me before!
  9. Please help! I had a pre-employment drug screen today. It was + for PCP!! i didn't even know what that is until I got home and looked into this. Anyhow, I have had a terrible upper respiratory infection and have been taking a lot of over the counter cold medicines, i used a vicks vapor inhaler nasal decongestant before going in, and I am on antibiotics. Everything else was negative, opiates, thc, cocaine, amphetamines, benzos, barbits, etc. I cannot freaking believe this! I am soooooo excited to start this job...So much so I have told everyone it is my last job. Has anyone ever had this happen to them??? I mean, PCP?? Really??? Who even does that? So what happens after you fail a drug screen? they sent it on to the lab, and also had me fax information to my doctor to have him fax to the "medical review" doctor. Becca
