what are you doing to prepare for the start of school??

school starts may 12 for me....

i am moving, taking cpr, making sure all of my shots are up to date, buying stuff (but restraining myself from buying too much) and running around like a chicken with my head cut off all in excited/anxious anticipation at the start of school!

what are you doing? Just wanted to do a fun thread...maybe it will give me ideas on things i need to do, lol :)

aww me too i dont know what to do for the first day of classes...

what to prepare are the things i dont know yet.. but im excited to buy my supplies...

let me ask:

what are the exciting things you do when taking Nursing classes...???:nurse:

My school has orientation the 28th, which is when I schedule my classes and buy uniforms.

So far, I've been mentally prepping myself for it and talking to people who are in it. One person, so far, said she loves it; two others say it's extremely stressful, and one said she cried her first day of clinicals.

I should start watching Scrubs or something that makes hospitals look fun...but then again, I don't want to have a rude awakening.

I have orientation this Thursday where we will get all the info needed to prepare for the program. NS starts in August for me. I was looking into what stethoscope to buy and how many uniforms I should get for clinicals and such. Unfortunately a surprise came to me in the form of a pregnancy not only was I getting my two kids and husband ready for me to go back to school, I now have to figure out a new baby into the mix. So now I am totally lost as to how to prepare. Scared, Frustrated, Excited, Emotional Etc... I need help on how to deal?????? I've been waiting to get into the program for 2 years and now that I'm in I don't want to give it up but at the same time I know I need to take care of myself and family. At least my baby will be due Dec. 27th Just as Christmas break occurs and I was advised by an RN (while giving me prenatel advice) that at least it is the first semester and that the duties are still the basics of learning versus going into the other semesters where it gets even more intense. Tell me if she's wrong or right? THANKS....

Haha! I'm so with you on that one! lol :grn::bdyhdclp::scrm:hahaah sorry I went a little bit overboard on the smilies...but they made me laugh so I just had to put them on here (for my own stress relief! :) )

I agree with both of you. That last line made me laugh as well. I think I should also schedule me a break down too

I am done til at least fall, maybe even jan '09. i will have my ADN. but i had to reply to this thread! i used to get SO excited about getting my books ready! i would tab things out, get my syllabus organized; do as many wkshts as i could to start, in pencil of course!! try and fig out papers i wanted to do.. all that stuff. i love the planning part, the rest....well..thats left to be said..lol

have fun guys & gals!

Well Thursday turned in my physical, hep B titers, TB test and proof of TDap. Should be set until orientation in couple of weeks which will tell us books ect. Our uniforms are plain black scrubs top/bottom and we will be receiving our patches to have sewn on shoulder to signify student nurse/ADN.

Reading a pathophysiology book:tbsk:in the tub!

HAHAHA!!! i love those smilies too!.. :D oh yea... incoming 2nd year this coming semester in June. i hope its gonna be more exciting but I think it will be more stressful, loads and loads of work. those smilies might work quite on me, LOL! its funny! when you think of it. hehehe

Just wanted to wish each of you good luck. I started NS last Aug. and I remember doing all the things you all are doing ( minus the lose weight part). This is such an exciting time, and I know how you all feel.

May I suggest something? Before I started NS I purchased the " Test Success Book for beginning nursing students" Let me say, this is an awesome book and will definitely build your test taking skills.

Well have fun and good luck. Time will fly.

good luck to everyone!! may you not be as tired as me at the end of your first year. my first semester was not as stressful as the second one. congrats on the baby!!

I start classes in Aug. I went to the doc today, got my MMR, blood drawn for a titer and stared my TB series. We have our clinical orientation the end of this month. I need to get my uniforms and lab kit. Waiting on the books to buy... I am so excited!!!

i have two weeks to get my life together if thats possible. :specs: i am first always lurking on allnurses.com to gain as much info as possible. but overall i quit my job, i am going to exercise 3-4 times a week over the next 2 weeks. catch up on some sleep and spend time with family and friends b4 i say fairwell and go in2 my 1 year accelerated bsn program. i have also started to take vitamins in hopes that they will give me extra energy, nutrition, & keep me from getting sick. :heartbeat
